I really liked this campsite. Beautiful fishing lake, the new shower block was excellent, very warm and clean although toilet paper ran out regularly. We used the cafe once for breakfast and had a yummy and cheap fry up. Good location between Coombe Martin and Ilfracombe which are both lovely, the pub in the village is spacious and does good traditional pub food. Overall I had a really good experience, helped no doubt by the one sunny weekend this summer.

Had 5 days here after we decided to make the most of the great weather and extend our stay - as our current campsite was fully booked we looked around the area and liked the look of Mill Park.
The new toilet/shower block was impressive and very clean with nice large shower cubicles giving you plenty of room to change, even with kids.
The bottom field was large and the pitches well spaced so even when full there is plenty of room between you and the neighbour.
The kid's play area is nice and what is great is that the river that runs through the campsite is safe enough for the kids to paddle in and play.
The on site bar is good enough, pub grub but can sit and watch the kids play whilst enjoying a drink, also the shop has pretty much everything.
One thing you may not get told is that they own Watermouth Lodges just up the road and you can use their facilities (fab kids play area and outdoor and indoor pool)with a pretty good restaurant, so great to make use of on way back from beach!
All in all, very nice campsite and def recommend over the 2 campsites that run along the main road near the harbour!

Well having just got back I can honestly say the campsite is lovely no complaints whatsoever. Having come from Leeds its a bit far for 5 days, the only thing that we didnt like was the fact that everywhere you go you had to drive . Im not lazy I dont even drive and my kids are used to walking but what a hike. It's perfect if you just want to chill around the campsite all day. My kids are 11 and 15 and I have 2 dogs and the area is more geared towards younger families and we found very restricting with dogs. All in all though a very beautiful place and well worth a visit if you live closer than we do.

Just returned from an enjoyable weekend. The facilities, considering the cost per night, are very good. Park is beautifully situated, owners are friendly and helpful, fishing lake is more than the 'duck pond ' that some sites offer and finally, local pubs excellent. Would recommend this to those who don't expect gold standard facilities, but enjoy a well situated, friendly site. We will definitely return.

Have just returned from a weeks very pleasant stay here. Situated in a valley you don't get the wind that other sites nearby suffer from. There is an excellent dog walking field, a fishing lake and a very well stocked shop, and in season a bar and restaurant. You can walk to Combe Martin by the coastal footpath. Very hilly and about 30 mins each way. And a very close beach about 1/3rd of a mile but 227 steps down to it so you have to be fairly fit. Well worth it if you make the effort as it is absolutely stunning! The village of Barrynarbor has a lovely pub which serves food and allows dogs, in the other direction is The Sawmills pub which also serves food but as they don't allow dogs we didn't try it.
The shower and toilet block is excellent with free hot water and hairdryiers at 20p a time, very good laundry room and reasonable too at £2 a wash and £1.50 for a dry. Plenty of washing up sinks with hot water and a disabled toilet and chemical waste disposal point. A very pretty site with very friendly helpful staff we will definitely be returning.

We visited this park in 2007 whilst staying at another site close by when the current owners had just purchased it. We were put off by the old toilet/shower block that was being used. However after seeing that the toilet block had been refubished we did not hesitate to book for the half term holidays. A very relaxing site with fantastic fishing lake and good size pitches which drained well considering the awful weather experieced. The bar on site and food was of good quality and value for money. Excellent washing machines and driers - but maybe not enough washing up sinks when the site is busy. However, a new toilet block was being built whilst we were there and nearing completion and looked fantastic. Would certainly return to this site again.

Mill Park is a camping and caravan site on the outskirts of the little Devon village of Berrynarbor, which is close to Coombe Martin on the road to Ilfracombe. The campsite is in a sheltered wooded area with a stream running through it. Amenities include the usual washrooms with showers, shop, onsite bar, restaurant; children’s play area and bizarrely a large coarse fishing lake. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Berrynarbor.
The site looks beautiful with pitches well marked out. It did rain virtually the whole time we stayed and the area round the tent did turn a bit muddy, but considering the conditions not as bad as expected. The bar is functional but not a bad place for a night cap. We did not eat in the restaurant whilst we were there as it was only open Thursday to Sunday but my parents who had been down longer said it was cheap, plentiful and tasted OK.
The washrooms again were OK, cleaned regularly and always had paper. I could imagine the facilities being stretched though when the site is busy.
Overall the site is well situated for what we wanted to do and well run. It was reasonably priced and we would certainly stay there again if we went to the area again.
Berrynarbor
Berrynarbor is a quaint little village full of white cottages. It has a post office, tea shop and a pub. The Globe Inn is a great pub with an enchanting old world charm. Furnished with rickety old furniture and decorated with bizarre local items it serves great pub food and has a good selection of ales. Well worth a visit. There is another pub on the main road the other way from the campsite, The Saw Mill, which is OK and does decent enough food but lacks the charm of the Globe.
Day Trips
There are plenty of places to visit just a short drive from Berrynarbor. It is just 5 minutes to Coombe Martin and 10 minutes to Ilfracombe. It is on the border of Exmoor national park and the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth and Clovelly are not too far. Below is where we visited.
Heddons Mouth/Woody bay
Heddons mouth is a small pebble beach with steep cliff’s either side. It has an old limekiln by the beach and is very picturesque. We drove to the Hunters Inn and parked in the car park there. It is well signposted from the major roads. It was a gentle 20 minute walk to the beach from the car park along a shaded river bank. We then decided to climb up the cliff to go to Woody Bay just a bit further along the coast. This walk was much more strenuous with a few fairly steep climbs. It was well worth it though with a spectacular views along the rugged coastline. Also spotted was plenty of the coastal birdlife, a pleasant waterfall. It took about 2 hours to get to the bay and take the road back to Hunters Inn for a well deserved drink. The Hunters Inn looks like a great country pub from the outside and is obviously very popular with walkers. The inside though did not live up to the outside with the décor tatty and not particularly atmospheric, although to be fair did serve good ale and looked as though the owners were starting a major refurbishment.
Tarka Trail – Barnstaple to Instow
We hired bikes from a hire shop at the train station and cycled the Tarka Trail to Instow. The route is fairly flat with scenic views over the estuary of the river Taw. Instow is a pleasant little place and we stopped in “the Bar” for a quick drink before heading back. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon and I just wished we had started earlier so we could have gone on further.

We recently stayed at Mill Park during the May bank holiday as first time campers as we have a little one now and thought it would be exciting for her. We certainly picked the worst possible weekend for camping at it poured non stop during our four day visit and though it was very wet for our stay there was no problem with the drainage etc on site. As camping virgins we didn't think we needed anything more than a sleeping bag but English winter nights can be very cold so fortunately a kind couple (Karen and Paul I think), lent us a portable heater. As they were parked next to us in their new caravan they must have heard our teeth chattering and our bones rattling away during the night.
The shop on site was adequate as were all the facilities. Showers were very good and very clean but to maintain this high standard they were sometimes closed (for cleaning)at the time one wanted one but hey what do you expect!
Now my gripe - when we booked into the park there was no welcome pack or talk to let us know what the site had to offer. What we did not realise (and found out as we were leaving the site)is the camp has a sister camp next door (behind the castle)where you can use the facilities. This included the use of an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, games machines and indoor/outdoor play area. Nice bar/restaurant with occasional entertainment and shop. Had we known this we would not have had to travel high and wide to entertain the little one.
Would I go camping again - Not in the rain
Would I use Mill Park again - Def Yes but this time I would make use of all the facilities

The main reason for going to this particular site having studied lots of reviews (other sites included) was the new shower block for Spring/Summer that is detailed on the Mill Park website - it hasn't been built yet (now August). Even though when booking, myself and several friends requested to be near the new shower block we weren't told it didn't actually exist! Having said that it is a lovely picturesque site with good facilities and the stream and play area kept the children entertained. The food at the cafe was reasonably priced and of reasonable quality with a good selection. The shower block that is there is a bit of a trek from the bottom field where the tents are and this is where washing up is done (we often just boiled the kettle and washed up by our tents to save carrying the dishes all that way. The showers were kept cleanand we didn't often have to wait, but there is a lack of mirrors (none at all in the porta cabin toilets near the bottom field - no soap and no hand drying facilities at this one either) no mirrors above the sinks which would be nice for teeth cleaning and would save having to wait for the only 2 mirrors that were there while the teenagers spent ages doing their hair and makeup. There is only one plug socket for hairdryers and one hair dryer supplied 20p a go. The other problem we had was MUD, now I know they can't help the weather, but if a stone track was laid for a road in the bottom field it would save so much mud. Where cars were trying to get in and out (some got stuck) the unofficial road they used became worse and worse and wider and wider making it difficult to get to the toilets without trudging through the mud. The site staff did try to help by putting straw down over the mud but it had limited success. The shop was well stocked and the staff friendly. The position of the site was good with lots of places and good beached to visit nearby. I would revisit but lets hope the new toilet/shower block gets built and that the rain is kinder to us next time!

The campsite is in a lovely setting in a tree covered valley. There is a stream and lake on the site. We were in the 'bottom field' which is apparently only open in the school summer holidays. This area is very picturesque and there are no marked pitches so, as part of a group of families, we were able to pitch as we wanted. Although we didn't experience it ourselves the EHU pitches looked very small and some had virtually no room between caravan and awning and the next caravan. The first week we were there was very wet and the bottom field became virtually inaccessible by car due to the mud. The owners were very helpful though and provided straw to soak up the mud at tent entrances! The holiday was somewhat redeemed by lots of sun the second week. The toilet facilities in the bottom field were basic consisting of portacabin toilets - no showers or washing up facilities - and it was quite a walk to the main toilet block (it took a few minutes). However despite the mud they were kept fairly clean. A few more mirrors (non in the portacabins and only 2 in the main block) would have been appreciated. Apparently they were going to be building new facilities for 2007 but ran out of time. We didn't use the bar/restaurant ourselves but friends of ours did and said it was very good. Playground was OK but obviously not the one shown on the campsite website (nor was the bar). The shop sold lovely fresh bread in the mornings. Surrounding area was lovely with plenty to do in both good and bad weather.
