We visited this site in 2002 and we have to say what a pleasure it was to go back, there have been a lot of improvements made. The new shower block by the camping field is excellent, large powerful and really hot showers all lovely and clean, there is even a playpen for the little ones. The other showers by the reception have also been upgraded and are spotlessly clean and piping hot. The shop has a good basic range of supplies and newspapers are available. Small children's playground next to a shallow stream. Nice sized pitches that all looked flat. There were plenty of fishermen at the lake side, we did not fish so cant comment on what was caught.
The Sawmill pub opposite the end of the site is friendly and will allow dogs inside, as will the Globe in Berrynarbor. Lovely location, Watermouth Cove and Castle within easy walking distance. The local buses run a frequent service, however a car would be more advisable, Tesco's supermarket about 5 miles away, lots of local butchers ect in Ilfracombe, all in all fantastic site and really beautiful location.

A pleasant site staff are helpful and polite.
If you are on the east side of the valley there is little TV coverage, analogue, digital or satellite.
The pitches are close together and I would guess in the height of the season with an extra 50 units on the lower site it will be extremely crowded
If you are not confident with towing a caravan the route via the A399 through Combe Martin may not be for you. The longer trip through Barnstaple may be easier and safer.
We had an excellent nine days on the site and would heve no hesitation in recommending Mill Park particularly out of the high season

We visited this site as I had been there as a child (30 years before) and had fond memories of it. It was lovely to see that it had not changed, the site has maintained it's tranquil feel whilst keeping the facilities up to date. My husband enjoyed the fishing in the evenings, whilst I enjoyed the
Ducks visiting throughout the stay.
The site is located centrally for visiting the surrounding area, and jsut walking around the site on an evening was relaxing.
It was busy at the weekends but apart from a guest leaving site at 3am each morning in his van it was very quiet.
The only downside was that during our stay was the shower block cleaning was sporadic but as soon as the weekend came along with the seasonal pitch holders they upped the cleaning and the bar & food facilities were only open at weekends which was not detailed in advance.

Actually went to this site twice in 2009 and enjoyed the site both times. The second time being in August when we took my dear old mum camping for the first time in thirty plus years.
The site is quiet and pleasant with good facilities, showers and toilets and the bottom field is a must.
Tried to visit again this year in June but for some strange reason they do not open up the bottom field until July and settled for the site over the road. ( More in a separate review)
Best to walk up the road to the pub in the village as the one on the main road is not much to write home about.
Watermouth harbour is a nice stroll in the evening and a nice walk is to be had into Combe Martin up and over the hill. Not a walk for small children though because of the hill and the busy main road.
All staff are now curtious although we did have a poor experience many many years previous at this site with a very rude girl working or living there. Now I would say is the opposite with two very nice chaps.
Hope for a visit this year but do book up as they fill up quickly.
Locally Ilfracombe is a half day visit due to the jaded nature of the place. It really could do with a scrub up if it wishes to attract visitors.
Woolacombe is a must but for the rip off car parks
Barnstable is a good day out and there is a great pub near the bridge in Bideford with a fantastic atmosphere and good food.
Combe Martin needs some decent food at reasonable prices but there is a small cafe which knocks up a great breakfast when you can't be bothered to produce your own.
Only poor point about this site is the traffic noise late art night if you are allotted a spot near the main road.
Also not a great site for children but this no longer affects us.

Having just returned from this absolutely gorgeous site, I had to write a review to sing their praises. It really is a lovely little site which is well positioned for touring the stunning north Devon coastline with great towns such as Barnstaple and the wilderness of Exmoor within easy reach.
The site is split into two area's, one for families away from the lakes and the other for those who want to fish or be nearer to water. The pitches are a good size and with lots of trees around, one doesn't feel claustrophobic. Even if the site were full it still feels spacious. It's well sheltered too for blustery days and really is a very attractive site.
The children's play area is a little walk from the tent area, 4 mins at toddler pace if pitched along the back hedge. The area is really lovely with slide, swing, sand pit and rope swing for the older ones over a little tinkling stream (this is locked at night). I felt very safe as there was a tiny pebbly beach where my toddlers could safely be at the waters edge and throw stones into the very shallow stream. Could imagine it is lovely to dip toes in warmer weather!
The facilities are great, lovely clean, warm and spacious toilet/shower block with laundry and pot wash area. There is also a pub though this is mainly open on Fridays (sometimes Saturdays) out of season. The shop is well equipped though doesn't open until 9am, however, Tesco's in Ilfracombe is only 5-10 min drive away.
Will definitely return to this site and at £9 per night (non EHU) it really doesn't get much better than this!

Having researched online, this campsite seemed to fit the bill. Bar, children's play area and shower block. Ideal! There were Electrical hookups, water taps everywhere, shop, toilet block were all excellent.
We were welcomed to the campsite, we were shown where to park and set up. We had a little walk around and the scenery was stunning.
We spent our first night sat by the play area having a quiet drink while the children played. At 9pm sharp someone came to LOCK the swing and close off the play area! The games room was also locked. The bar staff weren't the happiest bunch so we decided to make our way back to the tent.
The second night, having unexpectedly run out of milk we drove to the shop at the campsite down the road, as the shop here shuts at 4!
We didn't feel at ease here and although we felt as if we had to keep the children quiet the whole time. The residents from the more permanent caravan pitches, were clearly heard leaving the pub and having a good old chat right outside our tent!

We have just returned from 2 nights staying at this wonderful site. The scenery is stunning, being set in a wooded valley. The facilities are excellent, with a well-stocked shop, games room, and a bar which has a big family room.
The toilet/shower facilities are the best I've seen at a campsite, with the new block serving having spacious modern wet-room style showers.
The area is perfect for families as its very quiet and beautiful. We will definitely be returning in the next few months.

I was recently trawling the internet for places to take my young family on the May bank holiday, we have recently converted from tent to trailer tent and I was eager to try out my new purchase.
After much deliberation we decided on Mill Park as the online brochure and other reviews were impressive.
Sure enough they were all true to their word, on arrival I was met Andy the site owner who took me round the site on personal tour. I must say all the staff on site are extremely friendly and always eager to help.So much so when I had problems putting up my new awning they allowed me to use their PC to download the frame diagrams and phone the manufacturers for help.
The site itself is made up of three fairly narrow fields which are all excellently maintained and laid out, the roads are all nice and wide to help you get around the site and the pitches are very generous. The amenities consist of a very well equipped shop, games room, bar, restaurant, excellent toilet blocks which are spotless and two sets of pan bash which are of the same standard. There is also a good dog walking field and fishing lake which is available at a very minor cost plus a children's play area, with two pubs very nearby and and loads of local attractions available this is a must visit site.
The five days we spent at this sight were very enjoyable and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Thanks again Andy and all your staff for a very enjoyable weekend!

Found this campsite using this website, so I thought I would add a review. This is our first family camping trip though, so I have not got much to measure it up against.
We had a very enjoyable time here, the campsite was very picturesque with the river, lake and surrounding greenery. We piched in the main field, which was fine, with a mixture of tents, campervans and caravans and ideally placed for toilet/shower blocks to either side. The new block in the lower field was brand new and fantastic. The other block, by the main reception/shop area was ok, but saw more traffic!
The shop on site was pretty well stocked and stayed open until 9pm. However, it did not open until 9am which meant I had to trek off to Combe Martin for bread and milk one ill-prepared morning. But did stumble over a lovely bakery with the most fantastic bread which was open early!
We haven't yet invested in an electric coolbox, so the freezer pack service was very useful.
We didn't use the bar or family room, but it looked quite nice we would have been able to sit out and keep an eye on the children playing in the play area.
I think we would go back again, but in the summer (the lower field and new toilet block shut 1st September for winter) and after a spell of dry weather as the ground was a bit bogged due to all the rain we have had recently and as the site is situated in a valley would take a while to dry out (did mean nice and sheltered from any wind though a real plus when you are under canvas!).

Just returned from a rather wet week at this lovely site. Sited in a small valley so not too windy but as its in a valley and it rained all week it did become rather muddy. To their credit they came round and put bark chippings down by the tents and vans doors which was a nice touch.Toilets and showers were very good , free hot water and cleaned daily. The block down by the fishing lake looked quite new.Adequate shop with most items you would need.We ate a couple of times at the sawmill pub, worth the 5 min walk down the road. The site bar was a little on the small side but if you include the cafe seating its ok.The site is a little off the beaten track, very quiet, you will need to drive to get about
The only negative comments we have is that there is not a lot to do for young ones and no evening entertainment, if you like that kind of site this will not be for you.
