All in all, loved it and want to go back.
Facilities good, cleaned well and pristine with minimum of fuss. All rubbish appeared to be taken off site daily, so bins always clean and virtually empty. Loos are separate from showers. Laundry facilities are well set up.
Dishwashing has 4 or 5 deep basins, stainless steel all designed for cleanliness. Downside is that village apparently has intermittent drainage problem which affects site. It became smelly around the facilities block but this is situated on the seaward corner of the site.
Area is full of interest : castle, walks, exhibitions, toy museum, Portree. Glendale, an adjacent area to the west, is exquisite. Our younger campers did hillwalking nearby.
The nearby shop is a good bakery, along with its cafe which we used for a breakfast. An organic cake shop (Jann's) looked tempting and appeared well-patronised though we did not have time to try it. General Store has pretty comprehensive stock if you are eating in. Post Office very close to site.
Dunvegan Hotel - served us 3 very good evening meals without booking. Youngsters used the cellar bar and snooker and pool tables. Garage with mini shop, open Sunday. Fuel therefore in village. Erstwhile garage also still open, obviously looking for cycle repair work. A good area for bikes. Two fishing tackle shops with some camping gear in each.
During grotty weather over 36 hrs, we had superb support from the owner: replacement tent peg, use of portable cabin for those washed out, help moving unit to more sheltered spot. Gold dust.

My family and I visited this site for a weeks holiday in our touring caravan.
We had booked in advance and on our arrival a spot by the waters edge had been reserved for us, beautiful!
Colin at reception is a local man and one of the friendliest people you could meet. We have small children and for their sake we brought our tv but could get no reception. Colin set up a huge aerial for us within minutes, nothing was too much trouble for this man.
The only down side is the fact there is no play area for kids but to be honest I think it would spoil the tranquillity of this site. However, our son had no problem making friends with other kids and played happily in the rock pools when the tide went out.
The showers were spotless and free and there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, plus lines to hang a washing on to air dry.
There is a washing up room too filled with huge sinks and drainers, perfect if you are camping or your caravan sink is a bit small.
We will be back to this site again and again, can't wait!

We stayed at this site in a tent for a weekend in July 2012. What a beautiful site with everything you need. The proprietor was lovely and welcoming, the toilet/shower block clean and not busy, the views spectacular.
The mistake we made was to pitch our tent at the top end of the campsite - at the top of the hill. It was an extremely windy first night and the tent got quite wind battered so we had to move the tent for the second night into the small sheltered area at the bottom leading to a much better second nights sleep!
Neist point is worth a visit, even if just for the drive there. The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant in Dungevan served fantastic food at a reasonable price and was less than a 5 minute walk from the campsite.
We will definitely be staying here again.

Stayed here during a 2 week holiday touring the Lake District and Scotland - our first long break in our motorhome and we can say without a doubt this was the best site we stayed at for lots of reasons. Great location, great price (£18 per night for 2 adults and EHU), friendly people, great facilities.
We just dropped by and were originally only going to stay for 1 night but ended up staying for 2 and if we didn't have to start making our way home would have stayed for longer.
We had a pitch on the edge of the loch, the views were stunning. The facilities were all we needed clean toilets, showers and pot wash with plenty of hot water.
The owner and warden were both very helpful and very laid back, the only site rule was 'Enjoy yourself'. (In fact we found everyone on the Isle of Skye to be very friendly)
We walked to Dunvegan Castle and had a great time exploring the castle and the beautiful gardens - allow yourself plenty of time, there is lots to see.
We ate at the Old School House Restaurant a 10 minute walk from the site on our last night. It isn't cheap but the food is delicious and worth it! Make sure you book though; we saw a few people get turned away and it was a Tuesday night.
The Isle of Skye is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, there is so much to see and do. We had no idea and could easily have spent a whole fortnight here. (We read that National Geographic magazine readers voted it the 5th most beautiful island in the world - it doesn't surprise me).
We started our holiday in the Lake District which is renowned for its beauty and I loved it but it does not compare to the west coast of Scotland and the Isle of Skye for rugged beauty and its a hell of a lot cheaper!
Come to the Isle of Skye and stay at this campsite

We found this site by accident, and what a good accident that was! We were headed for the Camping Club site but on arrival found it very crowded with queues waiting to book in, so we got out the map and spotted the symbol at Dunvegan and headed on, thinking 1 night and move on: we stayed 2 and would have stayed more if time had allowed. Our pitch was on the edge of the loch looking along it to the Isle Of Harris, a spectacular view!
The toilet/shower/laundry/dish washing block is central to the site with more than adequate facilities (even though quite a busy weekend there were never queues) The showers seemed to have a strange layout with a curtain on the outside and a door on the inside, but this worked really well for keeping your clothes dry:- other sites should try this!
Shops, pubs and food were only a short walk into the village and dogs could be walked along the river just outside the site, but look out for sheep!
The manager was very friendly and helpful, amusing us with his anecdotes. In fact the feel of the whole site seemed relaxed and informal and inspired everyone to be friendly and cheerful.
On the receipt we were given was a list of site rules:- only 1 'Enjoy your stay'. We did and will be back.

This is an excellent site in a wonderful location! We spent 10 nights here from 11th. June with the most glorious weather. The site is on the shore of Loch Dunvegan just a short walk to the village.
Pitches are level and well spaced mostly hardstanding for Caravans and Motorhomes. The approach to the entrance is up a fairly steep hill following a sharp bend. Don't get caught in a high gear as you approach the bend! I strongly advise booking this site in advance it is very popular!
The owner or his assistant are on site most of the time and are very helpful. For pitches at the village end of the site it is a long trek to the waste water drain. Don't let your container get too full.
Toilets and showers are clean and a good standard. Electrics 16amp so overloading is unlikely unless you have a giant Motorhome with air-conditioning and a jacuzzi. We shall return!

Some will say that location is everything and if this is the case this has got to be one of the best campsites in Scotland. It sits at the head of a sea loch and is surrounded by some beautiful old hills but it's only a 5 minute walk into Dunvegan, where that are a couple of shops, a good restaurant and an excellent baker.
I'd never been to Skye before and I don't think that I could have picked a better site as a base for my first visit.
The site owner is a real character and gave us a great welcome and he even lent us a copy of a walking in Skye book so we could take it up the hill with us. The site is well spaced out with lots of good flat pitches for tents and when we stayed, although it was quite busy we still had half a field to ourselves.
The toilet block is clean and in the males section there are three showers and three cubicles - at no point did I have to queue to use the facilities.

The owner of this site has to be the nicest and trusting chap you could ever meet. The site facilities are spotless and the campsite is in a stunning location. The site is on a high point so if there is a hint of wind you will feel it. But this can be said of 80% of the sites on Skye. There really is not a great deal of things on site for kids to do, but then again our 2 played all day with a bat and ball they can entertain themselves so facilities not needed.
The village is a 5 minutes walk and has everything you need but on an island scale.
Would return to this site if we visit Skye again.

The site has an amazing position at the head of and beside Loch Dunvegan and almost all of the pitches have lovely views. There are plenty of hard standings (just about level) and 16 amp EHUs. The toilet/shower facilities are of a good, but certainly not lavish, standard and they were spotlessly clean during our 3 night stay. The owner was cheerful, friendly and could not have been more helpful. He even has a few TV aerials on poles for those having reception problems. We found a signal without one but who needs TV anyway with scenery like there is to see!
The local garage has most essentials, including papers and, for lunch, we strongly recommend the very small tea room/chocolate emporium opposite the equally small museum) for their most superb home made soup followed by the venison casserole. Kinloch Campsite gets our vote as the best site on Skye, with great value for money too.

Stayed 2 nights - lochside pitch - beautiful, especially the sunsets. Site manager could not be more helpful - lovely chap.
Toilet block is fine, although quite a long walk from some pitches.
The site is quite exposed, so I would imagine it could be very windy - but we were lucky.
Dunvegan is quirky (we struggled to find an English newspaper), but quite delightful.
We ate at the Schoolhouse restaurant, within walking distance - fresh langoustines from the loch were fantastic!
Would also recommend the Stein Inn on Waternish peninsula - fresh lobster.
If you have time, go to Neist Point - awesome!
