This campsite was excellent and such a relief after we had spent 2 nights in high winds elsewhere at less sheltered campsites, with our tent nearly breaking several times.
This one is very well designed. It is on the loch shore, but for tents the area is well sheltered behind the main house, and they have built up grassy earth banks to make sheltered and private tent pitches, and hedges in position to add extra barriers to wind.
There is also a shelter available in case of emergencies such as tents blowing down or whatever, but we didn't see anyone have to use it.
The spot is gorgeous, most stunning views of the loch and Macleod 'table' mountains.
The weather was very good, whereas poor on the rest of Skye, maybe as the loch is further inland to the island.
Facilities are all there: very good showers, toilets, sink facilities and laundry.
We had two problems while we were at this site: the dryer they have is really poor, it just eats 50p's like Pacman! It would be cheaper to buy new clothes! We got drenched one night and spent all day drying as the dryer is huge but only takes a small amount of clothes and hardly dries them at all for the money. We must have spent about £15 on drying. I would recommend taking pegs and a line to dry!
The cold taps in the toilets are a bit too powerful so you can get splashed badly, and the hot tap doesn't stay on after it is pressed, so some fine tuning is needed to these facilities.
Despite these things, this was one of the best campsites we visited all over Scotland over a 3 week period with 10 different campsites used. We stayed here longer than any other. The staff are very friendly and helpful indeed, excellent!
It's also cheap as they charge £6 per person, no charge for dogs and don't charge you for the type of tent you have.

What a great site! We loved the friendly atmosphere and the helpfulness of the owners. We pitched in a tent for 2 nights and after a visit to Harris went back for a further night.
Great prices (£19.00 for 2 adults, 2 children in 3 tents and 2 dogs). Very clean facilities, hot showers and a great washing (clothes) block. Owner always happy to charge up your mobile, psp, camera, etc for no extra fee.
Lovely position overlooking the loch, with a rocky beach that children love to clamber over. The local village of Dunvegan has a great bakers that serves takeaways on each night (Indian on Thursdays, fish and chips on Tuesdays - all very yummy and good prices).
Would definitely go back to this site.

Stunning views & location at this end of Skye & the campsite. On arrival we picked our spot & paid in the mornings (you can book but we just showed up). Pitches are large enough & you can have a choice of many great views over the loch.
The toilets & showers were good & clean. The washing dishes area was excellent as was the small laundry area indoors. The owner was helpful & obliging.
We paid £17 (incl elec) which we felt was ok value. The site could benefit from a kids play area of some description but other than that - great. The town is easily walked even with young kids & is fine for most requirements. We would recommend this site & would stay again.

WOW, is just about the only way I can some up this camp site. What stunning beautiful views there is to be had and Dunvagen is such a beautiful and quaint town. The toilet and shower facilities are limited but they are very clean and very adequate for what we needed. The camp site as a whole was very well looked after and kept in immaculate condition, and the plots for pitching are relatively flat.
Colin the guy who owns the site was friendly approachable and very helpful. If you don't have the ability to charge your phone you can do so in the offices they have and also re-freeze your freezer packs if necessary.
It gets wet so plenty of waterproofs are a must as is warm kit and more so for night times.
Dunvagen is very central and we found the whole island very accessible from this camp site. We spent 7 nights at this camp site and would gladly go back any time (only without the KIDS so we can go and do some serious walking).

Great site. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Skye. The facilities are very very clean and well maintained. The owner of the site is very helpful and a good laugh.
Dunvegan has loads to offer and is a very beautiful place. The campsite is on the shore of the loch and is a very peachful and quiet area to stay in.
The local shops stock all that you could need for meals etc. The Dunvegan hotel does some lovely food in the main resturant (wouldn't recommend the cellar bar though!)
Will be back again if on the Isle of Skye again.

Lovely site, camped on loch side beautiful sunset. Only able to stay two nights but would stay longer next time. Facilities clean and adequate, would recommend the site any one anyone touring the Isle of Skye to use as a base for the top end of the island.
Short walk into village, shops, pubs, food etc. Available. There is a bakers shop which we did not try but looks good!

We stayed here for the third year on the run this year after falling in love with Skye in 2008. The site is located on Loch Dunvegan in a very picturesque part of Skye right at the foot of McLeod's Tables. It is a quiet, peaceful and friendly site and Colin (the owner) is always happy to help with any queries.
The facilities are excellent, the toilets and showers are always immaculate, as is the dish washing room and laundry. Colin seems to have thought of everything: there are handy bbq stands, a laundry basket which you can use to take you washing to and from the tent/camper van, and even a washing line. You can charge phone/camera batteries, (we even charged our lap top) and freeze your freezer packs and make use of the fridge. There is also local info in reception. You can also use the Highland Wifi facility which is a separate service from the site which you can log onto and pay for through paypal or bank account (£20 for 7 days).
Dunvegan itself has everything: two shops selling groceries/papers, two restaurants, petrol station, tourist info, pubs, and a fantastic bakery that sells fresh bread and delicious cakes and pastries, and also does fantastic breakfast baps! You can walk here in 5 minutes. The castle and coral beaches are also a 10 minute drive away.
This is an excellent campsite that we will keep returning to again and again, and having seen it literally ALL weathers (gloriously hot to recently force 10 gales!) we know it definitely lives up to our expectations! can't wait to return :-)

We stayed here for an overnight whilst touring and will be going back for a longer stay. Time didn't allow any longer on this trip, shame really.
The location has to be seen to be believed, we pitched at the beach edge of the site, looking right out over the Loch and out to sea. Truly stunning.
We had great weather, but as your right on the Loch I'm sure this can change quickly, but its Scotland, be ready for it.
The owner welcomes you in a manner of an old friend returning and is very helpful. Everything you need in the wash block and lots of hot water, very clean and tidy.
A 5 min walk puts you in the village with two local stores, fuel and restaruant, everything at hand.
Well worth driving up past Donvegan Castle, stay on the narrow road till you end up in a parking area, after about three miles, and walk about half a mile down to Coral Beach, you'll be glad you did, take your camera.

Site owner is a delightful fellow and always there to greet you with a smile, offer help and deal with requests. He was absolutely open when I phoned to book and said he hadn't got a pitch I'd like on the day I wanted to arrive, but if I could delay till mid-week, he'd give me the best available. He did! It looked the full length of the loch and it was wonderful just sitting there, watching the ebb and flow of the tide.
But beware, weather on Skye can be quite 'ungood'. We were at Kinloch for seven nights and it was only on the last two days that the weather perked up and we no longer had clouds enveloping everything - and persistent drizzle.
If you're camping here, take something warm to wear. Lots of other people have said all there is to say about the site, so I won't repeat - apart from the fact that we loved it for its peace, tranquillity and friendliness of everyone we met. It does everything it says on the tin, the loos and showers are perhaps a bit basic - but they're CLEAN and everything you want is there.

We loved this site. It was fairly basic but showers/wc were clean and plenty of hot water and washing up facilities were good. The warden was very relaxed: we could take our pick as to the pitch and he gave a 'reserved' sign that we could use so others couldn't 'bag it' whilst we were out and about.
No play area for the kids but, to be honest, it wasn't really needed after a long day and we were just happy to sit and gaze at the views, which were stunning. We didn't want to leave!
Fantastic little restaurant (The Old School House) within walking distance, friendly local store, castle, Angus McGaskill's museum and a folk museum all within a short distance. Extremely memorable !
