So many positives about this site with the location right on the edge of a beautiful clean beach not being the least of these.  The site is only separated from the beach by fantastic sand dunes which the kids loved.  The seals visit the beach frequently and we spotted them at all times of the day.

The on-site facilities were not exactly state of the art but were more than adequate, there was never a queue for showers and plentiful hot water. The kids enjoyed the playgrounds and the £1 for crazy golf was the most expensive thing they could ask for.  Did not try the take away but it was certainly very popular.

Obviously a site favoured by regulars and yes, there were a lot of unoccupied caravans dotted around the site but assumed these were in position for people arriving in the near future.  We found the staff helpful and polite and shop and office open at times they were needed.

The only complaint I have about this site is the NOISE! at night.  This is not a site for you if you want to be able to sleep before 2 or 3 in the morning!  There were lots of large groups, not youngsters, family and friend groups who were outside tents making a lot of noise until very late/early without any challenge.  For this reason we will not be returning, noise until 11.30 or so is the norm on many family sites  but with young children who wake at 7am and not getting to sleep until 2am - we have returned in need of a serious rest.

Just back from a 3 night stay at Waxham Sands Holiday Park in Norfolk. We've stayed here a handful of times over the past 5 or 6 years and we tend to only stay for long weekends, (mainly due to the fact that we only live about 20 miles away.) A long weekend is usually enough for us on this particular campsite, as overall, we wouldn't rate the site too highly.
So why do we keep using it? Our main plus points for this site are: close to home and nice location next to the beach (separated by sand dunes,) seal/s almost every time we go to the beach. It always seems a friendly site, ample toilet facilities, large plots and a few (smallish) activities for the kids like mini golf (£1,) play area with small adventure play ground and loads of space to fly kites or play ball games.
Down sides are: although the toilets are kept clean, they could really do with being updated to include soap dispensers and hand driers, plus I only had hot water once in our 3 night stay. The site can feel a bit exposed when really windy, despite sand dunes on one side and trees on the other, but it is a big site so middle pitches will suffer most.
Overall I would recommend this site, providing you're not looking for A1 facilities. The charge for a tent with up to 4 people is £12 a night, which I feel is acceptable. We can fit our Montana 6 with canopy and 2 cars on a pitch (small charge for 2nd car.) They also seem happy to accommodate 4 or 5 smaller tents to 1 pitch but the tariff may differ. Electric hook up pitches are also available for an extra charge and dogs are accepted.
There is an on site shop which is well stocked for most camping essentials and a hot food unit providing fish and chips, hot and cold drinks and various other dishes at reasonable prices. The beach itself is very clean with a mixture of soft sand and stones, (and is a great spot for body boarding.)
The town of Great Yarmouth is around a 25 minute drive and has many attractions for all ages. The site is also in easy reach of the Norfolk Broads if you fancy taking out a small boat for a day or by the hour. The nearest pub is in Horsey village which is around a 10-15 minute walk and their is a tesco store in Caister which is around a 15 minute drive.

Hi everyone. I first visited Waxham Sands when I was around 8 years old, the site was pretty much like it is now, peaceful, simple but absolutely fantastic.
Its a place which makes kids use their own imagination to create their own fun, the site is located next to sands dunes which give access to an un-spolit beach. Shower and toilet blocks are on site, yes they are basic but your camping, if you wanted luxury you should be in a hotel.
The site has an adventure playground, miniature golf and fantastic Fish and Chip Van. The shop stocks all necessary products and you can even hire ice blocks for your coolbox !
I went to the site a few years running as a child and made different friends each year, now being a mum myself my two children have been a few times and love the freedom to play.
Waxham Sands is how a holiday should be, simple, relaxing and time for yourself. The site owner will not stand for bad behaviour and will help with anything you ask.
You have the choice of camping with or without electric hook up, hiring a caravan or bringing your own!
I couldn't go camping anywhere else, its a second home.
Anyone wanting to shut off to work and every day stresses should book in at Waxham, its an unspolit area of Great Britain - how it should be, you will not want to go anywhere else.

Arrived for a one night visit - in the pouring rain!
Got caravan set up and waited till the rain cleared - it did! Chips were a bit manky but edible all the same. All necessary facilities in working order. Kids loved it - near to the beach, dunes etc. Lovely place to cycle. Peaceful and pleasant. If you want action packed non stop fun then go to Butlins , this was the ticket for us. The dog was really chilled out - prices are really competitive and am going back this weekend for a week - fingers crossed the weather gets out for us!

We've just returned from a weekend stay here and wouldn't choose to return. On a positive note it is very cheap and about 2 minutes walk from a quiet, pretty and unspoilt beach -the pitches are also very big and it is child friendly, but the site was pretty ugly and just had a bit of a weird and tatty feel to it. The showers were really dirty on both days which put us off. It also felt a bit like we we were stuck in the middle of nowhere - the nearest pub or restaurant being a 5/10 minute drive away, and Great Yarmouth seafront about 20 minutes in the car. Also the the lady in reception was very rude and unhelpful as I enquired about getting tokens for the shower before the reception was officially open at 10 in the morning! Overall we were disappointed and wouldn't count this as a great place to stay!

Just returned from a 5 day stay 3 kids 1 dog and myself and hubby, lovely site so relaxing, beach a minute walk away over sand dunes. 3 toilet blocks and one shower unit which do get dirty but are cleaned at least 3-4 times a day and as the site is big and due to lots of dirty sandy feet they are bound to get a bit grubby. 2 parks for kids and big green to fly kites etc. In general site is well maintained with own security staff that patrol the site. No slot machines for kids to want money! small crazy golf that costs a £1 that doesn't break the bank! We will def be going back.

This is a lovely site we has such a great time here in August - The location and the laid back atmosphere really makes it - right on the beach which is fantastic for the kiddies - our boys loved it - you can sit and spot the seals come into the beach - the site is set in lovely countryside with the braords just up the road so a great base to explore Norfolk!

The site was full when we were there but it didnt seem that busy - the pitches are marked out and quite large and it all seems very easy going - The staff are really friendly and are on hand if you need them - Toilets and showers are not greatly modern but they are clean and didnt have to queue at any time - Childrens play area and geese roaming around and no club house thank goodness!

We will really look forward to coming back again next year

Location excellent having a brilliant beach just a short walk through sand dunes. Camping field large, well drained but boring with no trees, hedges or shrubs to divide pitches and give a little privacy.
Facilities are run down to say the least. Not "filthy" but grubby and of a poor standard. Showers cost extra, only 35p but an insult when you consider the charges are top dollar at £10 per night.
In europe I get five star sites with pools and heated shower blocks for 8 euros! (£5.60) The worst bit is though, when complained to by my daughter, the management swore at her and denied anything was less than perfect.

Flat, busy site with everything you need. Fish and chips, a shop with all the basics, electric hook-ups, enough toilet facilities and showers or all. Very reasonable prices. Lovely beach, walks and wildlife. I love going to watch the seal colony further along the beach making sure my dog is on a lead. The children on the site played for hours in the sand dunes sliding down into the hollows. We will return.

This was the second time we have been here. This place is convenient for us, just a 50 mile drive away. The campsite is just what we want, not too organised and the facilities are clean. We went to the beach early (6 am) on a saturday morning and watched a big group of seals sunning themselves on the empty beach. Managed to get within 15 yards without disturbing them and shot some fantastic video. As we have a greyhound we like the fact that the site is dogfriendly. The onsite chipvan is ace! We have no complaints about Waxham Sands and will be returning soon. A little tip for new visitors, there is a quality farm butcher just up the road going north from the site and it sells excellent meat for barbies. And don't forget to try the Adnams Broadside, a quality local real ale.
