This site was recommended by our friends so we thought we would give it a try. On arrival I thought, what have we booked! The site is very large, but the pitches are very generous and the site is well run. The toilets are dated, and do not have soap or towels so remember to take your own. However, the staff keep them spotless, with cleaning taking place at least 3 times a day. The showers are paid for by tokens, but we always had hot water and it ran long enough for me and the children to have a shower with only one token (even with hair washing with us all jumping in and out to rinse the soap off). Although there are washing up facilities at each toilet block, we found that the one near us almost never had hot water. A short walk to the shower block area, and that sink almost always had hot water for washing up. The boys had great fun, we hardly saw them unless they were hungry as they went off and found lots of new friends at the play area. The shop is well stocked but mainly with bits and pieces not with things for full meals. We tending to use the Tesco in Stalham. There is a good Indian takeaway (Cinnamon) in Stalham that will deliver to the site and a fish and chip shop (selling burgers too) on site for those who do not wish to cook.

The beach is nice, but not life guarded.

Overall, very good value for money, the facilities could do with being upgraded but they are adequate and keep the cost down. Nice friendly site with large level pitches.

Another great stay at this fantastically friendly site. If you are looking for an away from it all holiday not much could beat Waxham Sands; to hear the sea in the distance at night, with no noisy neighbours is just great.

The beach is a short walk through the dunes (but up steps or quite steep paths), and to see the regular seal visitors so close to the shore is fantastic. Only tip - in real heat the ice creams melt by the time you get them from the shop back onto the beach so take a cool bag/box! Helps keep the beach litter free as well - which it normally is even at very busy times.

You make your own entertainment here- normally enough room to play by the pitches; but in the height of season there is still a big field for games etc. & a decent children's play area. A crazy golf course is on site; as is a fish & chip van which also does burgers etc.

A wonderful location right against the dunes, with simple, clean toilet/showers for those not using their own facilities.

A real chill out site - great for a relaxing stay.

We have visited this campsite many times, and every time we want to come back again. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The sandy beach over the dunes is perfect, and it is mainly people from the campsite who use it, so it doesn't get over busy.

The campsite itself is slightly dated, but don't let this put you off as it makes the perfect getaway.

The toilets are kept clean and stocked with paper, although there is not soap to use, so it's best to take your own. Showers are again dated, but clean, spacious and plenty of warm water, which you need to buy a 50p token for 5 min shower time

There is a small shop with the basics, a hot food wagon opens in the evenings which is average priced and gives generous portions.

For younger children there is a small play park, and a larger play area for older children, plus a huge playing field

My family have just got back from Waxham Sands campsite we went from 25th-30th May 2013 and had an excellent time. We pre-booked the pitch and met with other family who booked the pitch next door. The pitch sizes are generous and the roadways between are large giving a nice feeling of space. The site is excellent value and is in the perfect position. The sea is just over the top of the large sand dunes, and the beach is usually nice and peaceful because the campsite is quite remote meaning the beach is only really accessible by users of the campsite. I have been to this site before and will definitely return again my whole family loves it. The kids have space to run around and love the beach.

The facilities are good, they look a bit old fashion, but the toilets are cleaned very regularly including through the night and the showers are large and warm (you do have to pay for the shower using 50p tokens). There is a small shop on the site which sells a little bit of everything which is very useful. There are also two play parks one for little kids and one for bigger ones and they are away from the pitches in large fields so plenty of space for ball games without disturbing others. There is also a little pitch and putt golf course. In peak season there is a chip shop on site which offers very good food and good value for money.

The site is monitored discreetly in the evening by a friendly security guard and in all the time I have camped there I have never heard any late night noise etc.

The only negative thing I can think of to add is that the toilets do not have soap provided, this is a slight annoyance as you have to remember to take some over with you (and can be a pain with the kids) but since it is the only negative point and is relatively minor, I would say that the site is the best one I have stayed on.

This is a good value for money site with no thrills.

Good points: beach is just over the dunes, children love it! No arcades so you don't get pestered by the children, clean and well kept and friendly owners.

Bad points; this is only a small criticism, it needs more amps for the err electrics.

Norfolk broads is on your door step, the gang hired two day boats (8 families). Tesco only ten mins away in Statham, I did mine online, and had it delivered I did ask the site prior. Fish and chip van is very popular but worth the wait.

Surrounding area is great for cycling. Just how I like it flat!

We are hoping to return again this year.

The park staff were friendly and helpful. If you like open field camping, then the site will suit you. The beach and walk are fantastic. A fish and chips van comes each night and offers a huge plate of good food. On the down side the electrics pop the fuse several times during our stay. Hot water in the shower blocks and at the plate washing station was not always available. This was a bit disappointing as you have to pay for the showers. Big open fields for children to play in, but not much else in the way of facilities, a well-equipped store. I will not be planning a return visit soon.

What a great camp site. Our first visit was in July 2011 and we returned again in August 2012. On our original arrival my initial thoughts were 'OMG what have we booked' as the site was packed, however we easily found our pitch which was suitably sized and level and I was able to reverse our large twin axle van in without any problems and although a very busy site it is spacious enough with enough facilities so your not on top of other people.

Some facilities could do with an upgrade, as mentioned by others the showers & toilets, and other small things like fogged windows in the toilets so you can't see people standing at the urinals!, but they were clean and well stocked all the time. Overall the site could do with some investment, but I'd rather they didn't as the dated environment keeps holiday costs down.

Electric hookup is limited to a 6A supply which means you can leave your electric kettle at home as there is not enough power to run it, but plenty for everything else (mobile phone charger, TV, lights etc).

Access to the beach is via footpaths over the dunes, which is easy for the young and mobile, however being quite high they are not suitable for the disabled or elderly. The dunes also create a sheltered site from the wind off the north sea.

Price was much lower than expected especially given the location and facilities, and once you have paid for your pitch you can put whatever you like on it, no extras for awnings, gazebos etc.

The on site shop was OK, but could be better stocked (like newspapers not having to be ordered the day before and useful things like food for meals rather than sweets & chocolate & toys), but there is a Tesco store about 8 miles away.

The site has 24H security keeping those noisy neighbours in check both day and night so no worries about noise after 11pm.

There is plenty to do locally.

The beaches are great, but at the sea line there is always sharp shingle to walk over. This is normally only about 3M wide and once you've passed it the sea bed is soft sand once more. At low tide you can walk out quite a distance as there are lots of sand banks some of which will be come dry.

Another great day out is to hire a boat for a day (or part of) on the broads.

Great Yarmouth is about a 30min drive, and if you take the coast road look out for the Maize maze in late August

TV and mobile coverage - Digital TV is very good but mobile phone reception on EE networks (Orange/T-Mobile) was weak and only 2G, however a walk up the dunes provided excellent 3G coverage.

This site may not be for everyone as it is dated, but for a family holiday it is cheap and excellent value for money. This is one of those hidden gems that once you've been there you'll want to return again and again

We have just come back from 4 days of camping in Norfolk Waxham Sands Holiday Park with 6 adults and 14 kids ! Highly recommend the place!

Cheap n Cheerful, big pitches, close to sandy beach, friendly staff.

Just be prepared for the old of toilets and shower blocks! But we found them clean and in good working order! Just remember to bring hand soap with you as there is none!

Never had an issue with no toilet paper or cold showers! (As some campers has mentioned in their feedbacks).

Although at first glance it seem very over crowded it didn't put us off!

Play areas were good for the children but if you have children under the age of 5. You may want to go and watch them as the play ground for the younger ones is situated across the reception. Cars that are leaving the site are using the road between the playground and reception

Other than that I would highly recommend the site! We will be back soon. Next time with my husband!

Overall a good site very close to the beach. Dog friendly, with lots of open space to exercise the dog and children. Great play areas for all ages, The shop is ok to.

The showers are very dated (1980s) and not very clean, they also charge you to use them. There is not even a mop to clean up after or before you use them. They are also set at a temperature which was ok for me and my wife but much to hot for my 3 year old girl.

There are 4 toilet blocks which are again very dated. No soap or hand drying items. The hot water is hit and miss. Again not very clean.

Just come back from a 5 night stay at waxham sands, myself my husband and 2 children 5 and 3.

What a fantastic time we had. The campsite is very big with 2 parks 1 for the young children and 1 for the older it also has a crazy golf course which the kids enjoyed.

The beach is just over the hill side there is a few path routes to take but not good for people that find it hard to walk up hills and down the sand bank at the other side. The Beach was very good and you can often see seals swimming in the sea which we enjoyed. They also come on the beach in the evening and are there in the mornings.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Washing up area was small with only one sink but didn't find it to much trouble.

Shower block is dated with old showers and only set at one temp which can be hot for the little ones.

Shop on site is very good and prices ok.

All in all had a great time and will be going back again.
