12july 2003 Really liked this site. Alas the wildfowl area is no more. However there is a pair of peacocks who wander freely and the male will feed from your hand. Rather unusual birds as the male spends all night on top of the chimney of the nice house in the grounds. Very odd sight. The warden is very friendly and the few of us left on the sunday all knew each other when we left and it took about 2 hours to leave by the time we had all chatted. I agree that the facilities are not really adequate, 2 toilets for men and 2 for women and only one very tiny wash basin for rinsing hands and others trying to use it to wash etc. Not very good but as the site was so nice we stayed but I am not sure how the tent dwellers coped but they seemed to be enjoying themselves but we were only there for a weekend. 10/15 mins walk across fields to pub.

June/July 2003 Waterfowl Park now closed - but watch out for the Barn Owl hunting (and catching) voles in the field with the two railway carriages in, just below the rally field. During our final evening it made repeated visits and did not seem concerned that we were only 20 feet away.

June 2003 A beautifully maintained campsite with 2 fields dedicated to tents alone. The fields are both of ample proportions and the friendly proprieter encourages people to set up around the perimeter of the fields to allow for ball games and other activities within the centre section. There is a main road (A346?) that runs parallel to the top field, but the noise is reduced by the shelter of trees surrounding the campsite and you will find yourself awakened by the fabulous dawn chorus of a multitiude of songbirds instead of the distant rumble of traffic.
There are 2 public footpaths running through the grounds of the campsite and there this is a Duke of Edinburgh approved site which means that things can get quite hectic at weekends (however, the DofE group present when we were there were impeccably behaved).
There are a multitude of 1 hour, half-day or full-day walks along public footpaths available within a 3 mile radius of this site (usually with a nice pub en route to reward your hard work!), but there are also plenty of tourist 'honey-traps' like Bourton and Moreton within easy reach should you be so inclined.
A small gripe is with the shower, toilet and washing facilities. There is only 1 sink (with a shaver point and hair dryer socket), 1 very small handbasin per toilet and 2 showers (50p for 5 minutes). For a campsite of this size it can mean a considerable delay to your day just to complete the daily essentials of shaving, showering, cleaning teeth, washing up etc..
However, this is ony a very small minus to an otherwise fantastic campsite. It is possibly one of the best I have visited in this, or any other country and is well worth the £8.50 per pitch per night.

July 2002 This is great campsite and I would highly recommend it. Quiet and peaceful, in the middle of beautiful Cotswold countryside. Relaxed and friendly proprietors. Fantastic walks directly from the site.

June 2002 Jack's and Helen's weekend visit to Folly Farm - June 2002.
The site is small easy to find, pretty, relaxing, well kept, reasonably level with a nice mix of tents and vans. Ground good for tent pegs. Main area has large mature trees giving wind and some shade, as the site is high up. Two level open overflow fields for tents only. Fantastic bird sounds at dawn due to adjacent Waterfowl Park, but did not find this detrimental. Facilities as web site. Washing up sink and drainer with mirror, shaver socket and socket for hair dryer, in area at end of block, which is open on two sides but under cover. The two showers require 50p pieces for 5 minutes use. Men's and women's toilets clean, each with having two WC cubicles with commercial size toilet roll dispensers, one small hand size wash basin and auto electric hand dryer. The surrounding area is well served with public footpaths. We had two walks. One to Cold Aston, the nearest village, which has one pub. Not open all day. Main meals only on Sunday lunchtimes i.e. no baguettes or sandwiches. The other to Bourton-on-the-Water via the Windrush Way. Stop at 'The Famous Mousetrap Inn' on the road that takes you into Bourton beside the river Windrush, unless you like lots of day-trippers, fish and chips and crowded pubs. Found that the public footpaths were not always 'waymarked' adequately. Ordnance Survey Explorer Sheet OL45 essential walking equipment. Garage in Bourton had adequate supply and was open at 7.30p.m. Friday evening. Found a number of public footpaths blocked by waist high standing crops. Prepare for diversions. Even the Monarch's Way, a National Trail, was blocked thus in two places South of Bourton. Stout walking stick required. Verdict: Will definitely use this site again.
