Booked this site just before the August bank holiday and was told by the site manager "turn up and we will find you a place" The site was vastly overcrowded with several vans and tents being attached to the same hookup, which kept tripping several times a night due to overloading. The washing facilities were unpleasant and we only used them in emergency circumstances due to long queues first thing in the morning.Loud partys going on till 2 in the morning. Will not be going back to this site.

Lovely camp site with several very level fields.
Great welcome from the owner. He came round later to see if we were okay and had everything we needed, which was nice.
We did find the facilities very basic and not very clean. But then it was very busy as during half term holiday. However there were only two showers and one outside unisex wash basin, very disappointing on such a lovely site.
It's very close to Bourton on the Water, so ideal for touring the Cotswolds.

When we go camping, we normally go in a large tent and take everything including the washing up stand and toilet. We decided that we would try and go for a couple nights with basic equipment and our small 3 man tent. Folly Farm looked ideal, so we gave it a go. We arrived on the Sun eve and left on Tues morning. The site is easy to find, as per the directions on their website. The approach is via a tree lined avenue, which leads to the three camping fields. The first is mainly for caravans, but can have tents, especially if you require electric hook up. I am assuming this field can accommodate 17 units as per the ukcampsite,co.uk listing. The 2nd and 3rd fields are for tents, which are well mown without any marked pitches. We camped in the third field, our only criticism was that we were kept awake by a group of youngster talking until the early hours. As other reviewers have mentioned the facilities are "Basic but adequate" but was does that mean? The toilet block sits in the corner of the 2nd field, which makes it easily accessible from all fields. It is built of breeze blocks and painted to tone it down. There are two ladies and two gents cubicles and 3 unisex showers, two at the front costing 50p and one at the rear which is free. All three are instantaneous electric water heating, so no problems with hot water supply. The front two have been lined with a rigid white perspex type lining to make them more comfortable, whereas the rear 3rd one is plywood lined, hence free! There are three washing up sinks at the rear with plenty of hot water. There is only one sink for personal washing, which is outside on the left of the building, which maybe a problem for some, due to lack of privacy, especially if you have a family. We took the public footpath to the pub in the afternoon, but would not like to try it at night, due to nettles and mud. Unfortunately we cannot comment on the pub as it was closed at the time. All in all, we enjoyed the site and would definitely go again. It may not be to everyone's taste especially if you like plush toilets, but they were clean and certainly adequate. Ian

Just came back from a lovely (but chilly) weekend. All of the staff were v.helpful. Facilities adequate but basic, maybe a little updating would be nice. Would recommend taking a good windbreak as we were in the second field and the wind certainly does blow up there, but once we were snuggled behind the windbreak with the BBQ going it was fine. It was lovely to hear the cockerel in the mornings after all that's what camping and being in the countryside is all about. The site is very dog friendly and is quite happy to let you have dogs off the lead as long as they are well behaved. The walk to the plough is nice and short just a shame they shut at 2.30pm! No objection was made by either Manager or other campers about us and other campers staying up late talking etc, which was good as we felt like we could really relax.

What a beautiful location! Just a stone's throw from Bourton-on-the-Water and really easy to find. I did phone in advance but I recommend getting there early to find a good pitch. Our pitch was on a flat, well manicured, lawned corner of a corn field with lovely views sweeping across the Cotswolds. The well drained site is sheltered by dry stone walls and it didn't feel overcrowded even though there were definitely more than the 17 pitches shown on the UK-Camp-Site listing. I assume '17' refers to the caravan pitches. I saw a few tents in the caravan field but the tent fields were caravan free. There was a warm welcome from the friendly organisers who were always available and often seen strolling about the site. There's no shop, ice-block freezing facility or similar mod cons but that adds to the charm. There are small, movable concrete blocks at various spots around the edge of the field to use as barbeque stands. The site wasn't too noisy but is certainly wasn't silent. Dance music and raucous laughter could be heard into the small hours but not at top volume, just summertime banter. The walk through the fields to the pub in Cold Aston is a must but I recommend booking in advance if you plan to eat there (and take some mints for the horses). Don't be put off by the "footpath diversion" sign in front of one of the renovated farm buildings. There is no such diversion as the sign goes on to explain. If I had to find fault with the site the only critisism I can think of is that the facilities are very basic indeed. Although there is free hot water at the outdoor sinks (3 for washing up and one for stand-up washing) the showers are on 50p metres. I wouldn't have begrudged paying 50p for a warm shower but what you actually pay for is for the water to be switched on. Whether or not the water is hot depends on the demand for hot water at the sinks outside. Naturally, both washing-up and showering tends to take place in either early morning or late evening so you're guaranteed a cold shower unless you want to shower at midnight or midday. The cool shower was welcome on the hot weekend that we were there but I imagine the novelty wears off when the weather isn't so warm. The 50p pays for 5 minutes, which is cumulative so if 20 people take just 4 of their 5 minutes the 21st person gets a 20 shower for free! A simple site, value for money.

Folly Farm is well signposted and easy to find. It is a pretty and quiet site. The owners and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are basic but still adequate. Only two main showers, but if you don't mind a cold one nip around the back where there are two more (even more basic!) showers. We stayed in the main caravan field. We did find the ground rather stony underneath which made pitching a little harder. The cockerel / peacock is no more, apparently "eaten by a fox". A good base for visiting the Cotwolds. We would definitely stay here again.

Wow, we have just come back from this fantsatic campsite, having had a truly wonderful weekend! The campsite is situated in a lovely area, with plenty of trees to give shade. The facilities are basic but functional- there is no camp shop, so make sure you bring everything you need like gas, milk etc (unlike us!) The warden is very friendly too. There are plenty of places to go to within a few miles - Bourton-on Water was a favourite for us. Seems like the cockerel has been boiled or shot recently as we didn't hear it's morning call (a relief!) Highly reccomended Try to get a pitch in the lower field - more shade and privacy

This must be one of the friendliest sites we've been to. It's certainly great for exploring the beautiful countryside. Since our last visit there hasn't been any improvements regarding the lack of toilets & showers, but once again this is only a minor gripe. We spoke to so many people there during our stay and we didn't hear a bad word about the site. Charlie who runs the place is doing a grand job as ever. We'll be going again this year. Finally, the peacock which has been mentioned in other posts is no longer a problem as a fox killed it a while ago apparently!

Our first camping trip, so didn't really know what to expect. Arrived at 4pm without a booking, and saw that it was quite full so assumed we would be turned away, but we couldn't have been more wrong. Site manager was very helpful, said we could camp in the caravan field as long as we didn't mind being under the trees. He was very cheery and friendly, let us set up first, then sorted payment, told us where both the toilet blocks were, the pubs and local places of interest.
We only stayed one night so didn't use showers, only had to queue for ladies loo once, so not bad for price, but would be nice to see it upgraded a bit. Didn't get much sleep though, as baby on one side, young couple who came back late on other, and a cockerel and what sounded like geese first thing in the morning. All in all a nice site for seeing the Cotswolds, and if we went back would know to take earplugs!

Just back from our first visit in our VW Campervan to Folly Farm over Easter and had a great time. Excellent for quiet and relaxation. Didn't hear the cockrel everyone had written about. Facilities are basic but to get away from it all I think are adequate. Charlie the site manager is so helpful, he goes out of his way to make sure you are having a good time, he makes this place a success! Made the walk over the fields to The Plough, easily accessible. The surrounding Countryside is beautiful. The Falconry centre at Moreton in the Marsh definitely worth a visit. Be aware though, this is not a site for action packed activities but one for relaxing, early nights and chilling out!
