This is a good basic campsite with clean toilets, two showers and outside washing facilities. I would think it is normally reasonably peaceful as it is out of the way and doesn't have any games rooms etc.
However be warned - if you don't want to end up in the middle of several groups of young people doing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards (esp at weekends) then check with the owner before you book. They get up at 6:00-6:30 am and break camp about 9:00 am returning in the late afternoon to put up camp crashing exhausted by about 9:30-10:00 pm.
The basic facilities suffered with in excess of 50 young adults (boys and girls). Feeling that we were in a school playground at break time but it lasting several hours was not our idea of a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

A pretty little site. Ideal base to explore the Cotswolds.
Staff very helpful. Toilets very clean although very basic. This site was ideal for our children to explore as not to big and we could keep our eye on them. Chickens on site so fresh eggs available.
There are a couple of footpaths from the campsite. Once across the farmers fields you can cycle down the country lane via Cold Aston (very pretty little village) to Bourton on the Water town centre (although you may need to walk the bikes if you have smaller children once you reach the main road (approx 6 miles round trip).
Would definitely visit again.

Follys Farm is a lovely little campsite. The grounds are well maintained, the amenities were clean and the tents weren't stacked on top of each other.
There are plenty of toilets and showers and the site manager was very friendly.
The site is only a couple miles to Bourton-on-the-water and is well sign-posted on the road. We would happily stay at this campsite again.

We have just returned home from Folly farm (myself, my husband and 2 children aged 6 and 2). We booked at short notice (the day before we went) and after booking we read some reviews on here which concerned us a bit, but as we promised our children we were going camping we still went.
The campsite is basic as the website suggests, the toilets and washing areas were clean and kept clean throughout our stay.
The staff were friendly and the grassy camping areas were well kept, clean and reasonably level. The site was very peaceful and spacious and enjoyed by the whole family.
We had such a nice time after the 2 nights that we had booked that we stayed for a 3rd night as well. I wouldn't hesitate about visiting again and I'm very happy that I didn't let previous reviews put me off.

I agree with the other comments, the site was cramped when we stayed, so very close to others! However, the campsite was lovely.
Very well maintained, clean, and friendly. Showers are a bit dear at £1. 00 considering they are quite basic.
Everyone was very considerate regarding noise etc, and I was glad to see a great number of families on the site, as we took our two year old son.
Very isolated in terms of walking distance to anywhere, especially as the local pub in Cold Aston was shut, but Bourton and a number of supermarkets were only minutes away in the car.
Good location for day excursions around the cotswolds.
Will definitely stay again!

What a fabulous campsite, plenty of space and the grounds were immaculate. The campsite is in the heart of the Cotswolds ideally situated for Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold.
The staff were very welcoming nothing was too much trouble. Toilet and washing facilities were clean and tidy and at a good standard.
Electric hookup is available for tents / caravans / motorhomes.
Delighted that I could take my dog it was great that other dogs on the site were not a nuisance. There are great walks from the campsite into the surrounding countryside.
The best camping holiday I have had and will definitely return.

Be advised that this one is a 'turn up and squeeze in wherever you can' type site. Wasn't a problem for us but some people may not appreciate it. Charlie is a great character and I get the feeling that he will never say there is no space for you even in the height of the season.
Consequently the site did feel very busy so if you are looking forward to an empty site this isn't it. It was very quiet though and most people very considerate of others.
We arrived and all spaces around the edges of the two camping fields were packed. We ended up camping on the edge of a crop field which gave fantastic views out into the countryside and of a beautiful sunset.
The earlier you arrive the better choice of pitch you get. The pitches all seem quite flat although the ground was a bit stony where we pitched.
There are no lights on the site and it has a very rural feel to it. It is also a bit hard to spot coming from the West as the sign is invisible until you are nearly on top of it.
I would recommend bringing provisions with you rather than relying on going out for them. I found a co-op a 15 minute drive away towards Cheltenham which was good value.
Facilities are basic (think washing sinks outdoors) but I thought this added to the charm. There are no lights in the cubicles which may not appeal to some. Showers are £1 per time which seems very steep to me.
Overall a good spot at which to stop over and decent value for the Cotswolds at £15 per night for two.

We stayed two nights at this site. We would have only stayed one, but the ground was so wet and the pitch heavily slanted that when we tried to move, the van just slid all over the place, so we had to stay.
We had phoned on the Monday (stayed Fri/Sat) and asked if there was availability and was told it was full but then told we could probably be 'squeezed' in. We appreciated the offer and accepted it was likely to be a pitch that wasn't going to be the best, however, with our nearest neighbours only 3ft away it felt rather intrusive and, as they had obviously booked for the week, I wouldn't have been best pleased if I were them, having us turn up late on a Friday night in the pouring rain and sliding to a halt (after Charlie towed us to the pitch) 3 ft from their front door. There was another Motorhome less than 10ft in front of us and he had booked on Tuesday! (Also told he would be squeezed in).
There must have been at least 5 caravans with awnings around the close perimeter of the site (about 20ft away), which were probably in storage, but for how many years, was any-ones guess as their paint was dulled and many a tyre was flat (not a pretty site).
The showers blocked the first morning we were there with the queue of 10 left to try and wash in cold water. The toilets in the caravan field were old and more large spiders and webs than I cared to share with and we were told we could empty our grey waste either down the chemical point or spread it around the edge of the trees, which were already sopping from the continuous downpours.
I'm sure this site is charming in the summer, but in damp and claustrophobic conditions with the same charge (£17.50 pn) for all, we did not feel it was value for money.
The warden Charlie was indeed, very friendly, but had his hands full with so many campers there (granted, he was the one who'd 'squeezed us all in!) and drains to sort out + dogs everywhere with owners who didn't seem to mind that their dogs don't clean up there own mess.
Stars? Yep, bet they were there, as it is indeed very dark on site, but with so much rain that w/e we didn't see any sparkle anywhere unfortunately .

We (My husband, myself and my beagle) have just arrived home after a one night stay at Folly Farm. We really enjoyed it! The pitch was flat and well maintained and the campsite owner was always around to speak to if we needed anything. He was very friendly too. The toilets/washing area and water supply were all adequate - a bit spidery for the ladies, but the campsite is in the middle of nowhere! We didn't use the showers as we were only there one night, but plenty of other campers did.
The feel of the camp was family friendly, no big groups of lads drinking so was a nice quiet place to sleep. There are NO lights apart from inside the toilets so take torches/lanterns so you do not trip.
The stargazing was amazing as you are in the middle of the countryside with no street lights or anything. The campsite is made wonderful just be that! We did not really venture off of the campsite as we only live half an hour away, but there was loads of space to walk our dog.
The Pitch cost us £13.00 For one night which I thought was a little bit much as the tents were packed quite close together and the toilet/wash facilities were small, other than that Excellent campsite!

We read the website and it said basic and peaceful. We thought that is great just what we need, a quiet weekend.
The website is out of date. It states £1 for a shower and when you get there its 50p. The problem here is not having the correct money when you are undressed and just about to put the money into the box. On Sunday morning when I went to shower, I put my money into the box and no hot water came out.
Definitely need more toilets and showers 2 showers and 2 toilets for all those people was not enough.
If you decide to go, make sure there are no large groups. I feel when we called the campsite they should have mentioned this to us beforehand and we would not have made the trip
