We couldn't think of a single bad thing about this site! It has to be one of the very best Club sites in the country. The amenities are new, beautifully fitted and kept immaculately clean.

The wardens were simply outstandingly helpful and friendly.

Many of the pitches are screened by hedges, providing shelter from the wind and unusual levels of privacy. On some pitches there is a view of the sea from inside the caravan.

Television reception is excellent, with a strong digital signal. There is WiFi, but we found that our pitch was a little too remote for reliable connection.

Highly recommended :o)

This a site not to be missed if you have a family. Arriving at the site you pull up neatly in one of two lanes then go to reception. The people in reception told us when finding a pitch not to miss the 'middle section' of the park as most people drive past that. So, we ensured we drove into that part of the site. Problem was, we have a front wheel drive car and as the grass was a bit damp, we did struggle there, so moved on to a very nice hardstanding pitch at the far end of the site. Smaller outfits or rear wheel drive would be fine.

The bar area is fantastic, with a tented extension to it with lovely and warm heating, not what you really expect at all. The food was great, albeit I thought a 'little' on the expensive side. Dogs are allowed in the tented area, if well behaved. The main bar has entertainment each night.

The shop is very well stocked.

Toilets and showers are spotless.

Our week was Easter week and the site ran a competition for the kids to find easter egg vouchers that had been placed around the site, really good fun for the kids.

We will be going again for sure.

 Excellent campsite, highly recommended!

Warm welcome on arrival, and as newees to this lark everything was explained fully. You can pick your own pitch, most of which have hedges which add that extra bit of privacy.

Toilets and shower block were spotlessly clean.

Clubhouse/restaurant serve great food and drink and not at a rip off price!

Swimming pool looked inviting even though it didn't open until the end of May.

Bus stop at the entrance (remember to ring the bell when you want it to stop as they don't just stop at a bus stop - might sound weird but our buses stop at every stop en-route)

Everywhere seemed to accept dogs as par for the course even the clubhouse where you can sit in a marquee with them.

Games room available for kids and bigger kids!

Will definitely be returning!

Stayed here for a week over the Easter holidays, thought the site was going to be busy but only about 50 pitches taken out of 270? where was everybody!
Excellent site, varying sizes of pitches most with beautiful sea views, very clean toilets and showers and very helpful wardens.
Good children play area. Spar shop on site and a restaurant.
Food in here just ok. Beautiful area good 2 mile walk to beach it is downhill so remember its uphill back. We did it with 2 children 9 and 7 and they just about did it. Recomend the 'Round Robin' which is steam train from Paignton to Dartmouth then cruise up the river dart to Totnes and then bus back to Paignton. Overall an great site with plenty of space for the children not sure how it would be in high season. Be warned it can get very windy so be careful where you pitch and face your awning ours got blown off.

We've just come back from a week at Hillhead and we were so impressed that I felt I had to put a review on here. The site was very clean and tidy with good facilities. The toilet/showers were immaculately clean with plenty of hot water. The pitches were a good size, a mix of hard standings and grass. Some are separated by tall hedges so they're lovely and private. There's electrical hookup and an aerial point on there if you use a TV.

The onsite bar was great. Our children were made welcome. The staff were friendly and the entertainment was very good. There was a covered area in the courtyard which would be lovely to sit in when the weather is warmer. We didn't eat in the bar but the food looked tasty and they did take out too if you fancied a night in without cooking.

The site is in a good place for all the many things to do around the Torbay area. If you look in the information room onsite you'll find details of lots of the local attractions. There's a bus stop right outside the entrance. You can catch the bus into Brixham or go the other way to Kingswear and then go across on the ferry to Dartmouth (I would recommend using this bus as parking at either of these places is limited and quite expensive).

The wardens were friendly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We had a problem with our water pump and had a day when the awning nearly took off. Both times the wardens went out of their way to help us. We took a box of chocolates in for them on the day we left and they said 'you shouldn't have, it's all part of our job to help you'. How lovely is that!

I can highly recommend Hillhead. It's a Caravan Club site and the high standards of the club really show here. We've already booked to go again later this year.

This was the first outing for our folding camper. The weather at Easter was very cold particularly with the biting North wind.

The site was first class. The toilet facilities are very modern and ultra-clean. The site was almost full despite the weather but the staff coped with the demand with great efficiency and were very friendly.

Television reception is excellent through an ariel connection on the electric hook-up post. 25 metre cable can be bought on site.

The dog run is also very good. The walk to Mansands is only for the fit and hardy.

Overall, this is an excellent quality site

Just spent a wonderful Christmas here. The site is kept nice and tidy and the toilet block is always spotless.

The dog park is perfectly adequate with lovely views towards Torquay (I think)

This site is mainly for children as it has a fantastic pool, amusements, playground and clubhouse for entertainment. The bar food at Nico's is excellent and really good value.

The staff did an excellent job at Christmas and they did a lovely Sunday carvery which is highly recommended.

They also held a competition for the best decorated caravan/motorhome. The wardens went round taking pictures of all the entrants and put them on a slideshow for all to see before they announced the winner, it was all very good fun.

I can't wait until they allow you to book Xmas for this year. March I think.

We have just got back from a great two week stay at Hillhead, I would recommend the campsite to anyone. Although the site was full the staff were very helpful and the showers and toilets were always clean and tidy.
There is a great park with a skate board ramp a field to play games with the most fantastic views of Brixham ,there is also a great dog walk with the same views! We made great use of the swimming pool and bar areas the food was good too.
I have to say if you are looking for a family campsite in a lovely area than I would say give Hillhead a try I don't think you would be disappointed.

This site dosn't seem to have an arrivals policy i.E. Not before 12:00 as people where arriving for 08:30 as the reception opens.
The drive to the site from the M5 is ok but can get slow at busy times due to roundabouts and traffic lights enroute.

Our visit at the end of July was just as the bad weather started to clear but as this site has a lot of grass pitches, some where in a poor state. We had a grass pitch for the first two nights and I requested a move to a hard standing when one was available due to heavy rain on the first night and the pitch being a mud bath. The pitches are very close together on this site which reflects its previous commercial nature.

Wardens are very helpful and the site is the usual CC standard with excellent facilities for families. We only ate once at Nicos and that was a Pitza but the food looked ok and plentiful.
Sunday carvery was £8-9 And there was plenty of takers.
Drinks where £2.55+ depnding on what your poison is and a kiddies Fruit Shoot was £1.20 so a tenner won't go very far.

Our grandson loved the play and paddling pool area but the games room is full of games machines not suitable for kids under 7 I would say and most where 50p a game. The entertainment was good, but I thought the kiddies hour was again aimed at the older kids, just goes over the head of the toddlers.
There is a ferry to Torquay from Brixham and Brixham is a lovely harbour town and is a must visit as is Dartmouth. I suggest you use the bus to both especially Dartmouth as parking is limited in both space and time.

Torquay is a lovely place and has a good shopping centre and if you get there early, you will probably get a free 3hrs parking spot on the sea front near the harbour end.

Would I visit again, no, its a good family site but not to my liking, and the journey was 7 hours for me due to weight of traffic on the Saturday we arrived.

This was our first visit to Hillhead, but it will not be our last.
The site is well laid out, although some pitches can be tricky to get on and off if the ground is wet, we were lucky enough to bag a hard standing.
The wardens were friendly and helpful, as were all the staff.
Shower and toilet facilities were excellent, very clean, and heated which in this July's weather was a plus.
The swimming pool was a huge hit with our 4 year old daughter, although the weather was hit and miss.
The restaurant and bar "Nico's" was perfect if a b-b-q wasn't on the agenda, with a good selection of reasonably priced food.
The children's entertainment was brilliant, just enough to keep little ones happy before the bingo started, they had their work cut out at times, but managed to pull it off.
There was plenty to do in the area, Dartmouth is an absolute must, just beautiful. We covered all the attractions in the area to please the little one, be warned most attractions have a pay and display carpark, so not only do you pay an entrance fee you also have to pay to park.
Also don't take bikes if you don't like riding up hills.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay we'll be back soon.
