This was our third visit to Hillhead and as previously, everything was of a very high standard. Unfortunately, we had car trouble on the way down to Hillhead and arrived on site on a low loader. The wardens' couldn't have been more helpful. They towed our touring caravan onto our chosen pitch and back off at the end of the holiday.
All amenities were of a top class standard and the local bus service was very easily accessible. We would recommend the site and will definitely be returning.

Just spent xmas & new year at this lovely site once again the wardens were very helpful, on arrival as we were late due to traffic, they waited for us so we didn't have to go to late arrivals, but could get on a pitch which was much appreciated the club/shop was open most days, xmas day/new years eve were tickets only, we never went on xmas day but were told everyone had a good time & lovely xmas dinner. we went on new years eve and had a wonderful time, every thing from the very large buffet to the fireworks was spectacular as this is a cc site the facilities are as you would expect, spotless clean and plenty of hot water. hopefully we will be returning again in 2010

Booked this site with my parents and their van, arrived together and was very limited to the pitches available. The first ones we couldn't accept as we have a 6 berth van and the pitch was way too small, so was told to have a look around, we managed to find 2 more close to each other, however you do need levellers, we spent a week out of level as that was the highest we could get to something like, my parents pitch was much better. The facilities are brilliant though and its location is fantastic, the kids loved the slots and playground, would return next year but carefully choose where to pitch.

We visited site again as we enjoyed our time so much in June.
Being august I thought that the site would have a different atmosphere, I was wrong it was just as good as before.
The only complaint that I have from both visits is, Why can the wardens not be strong enough to send new arrivals away if they arrive before noon, I noticed various arrivals from 9am onwards every day that I was on site.
This does not take away how good this site is and how friendly the wardens are its just a small problem that I think needs sorting.
We will be returning in the October half term.

We visited this site for the first time this year. What can I say, we have always stayed on CC sites so knew what to expect but this site is exceptional. Throughout our stay the site was kept clean and tidy. The wardens were very helpful and pleasant. Some of the pitches can be a little small, we have a fairly large van which didn't allow us to park in the ordinary fashion, however by turning the van side on, we had ample room for awning and carparking. The pool was excellent and whenever we visited there was always a lifeguard on duty. The only downside was that people seemed to save the sunloungers with towels and then went missing for a few hours, which I found annoying, therefore we took our own chairs up. The food was of a good standard although a little on the dear side. The entertainment went on all night up until 11pm, we didn't find this a problem as the entertainment is located at the top end of the site near the entrance. The site is very close to lovely coastal walks and secluded beaches. There is also a bus stop right outside the site. I would definitely recommend a stay at this site and will be returning myself.

As we've come to expect from a CC site, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the Wardens, who remained helpful throughout our stay
The facilities were well maintained and clean - there were two toilet blocks, each had two family rooms, a baby room, laundry room as well as the normal facilities.
The site has in addition a club room which had different entertainment lined on each evening; they also served food and drink all at reasonable prices. There was also a games room as well as a shop. The site also has a child's swimming pool as well as a deeper pool. It was advertised that a lifeguard was always on duty when the pool was open but I didn't see any on duty when I was there.
As for negatives I did get the impression that pitches were 'shoe-horned' in and perhaps the CC should look at re-organising some of the pitches, especially as levelling blocks are definitely required for this site and some pitches were virtually impossible to get into! Another bug bear I had was that new comers were let in before the noon deadline for leavers and I actually saw new comers approach people who were leaving so that they could bag the pitch.
I would go back to this site though, if only for the surrounding views.

This was our second visit to Hillhead this year. The site is of a very high standard with immaculate facilities and large pitches. We opted for a grass pitch in an area of only four outfits-very private and quiet.
Entertainment at the club was good with an exceptionally good 80's duo performing on one night.
Local public transport is very easily accessible with bus stops directly outside the site and timetables available from reception-we hardly used the car while on site.
The site was very busy when we stayed but remained quiet with a lovely holiday park atmosphere. We would definitely return and are recommending the site to other holidaymakers.

Arrived at this very large site to be met by friendly wardens. As it was our first visit was advised by wardens where to park caravan and walk round to find a pitch that we wanted as there are a lot of cul-de-sacs. we found a lovely pitch with a sea view.
The facilities are usual cc standard, the swimming pool although we never used it looked lovely with a nice splash pool for kids and lots of sunbeds. The club was also very clean with reasonable beer prices and the food is excellent the entertainment was ok!
Brixham is just 5 mins away by car or the bus stop is right outside the entrance. Pretty little place to visit. If you like coarse fishing there are two lovely lakes 10 mins drive away, New barn farm fishery and town parks fishery. Would highly recommend both.
The Sainsbury you pass on your way to site is the nearest supermarket but the mini mart on site is very reasonable and does most things you would need. Can't wait to go back have already booked a return visit

Just returned home after a most pleasant week at Hillhead.
Staff: Couldn't do enough to help.
Pitch: Grass, plenty of space.
Facilities: Top notch. Restaurant/pub very pleasant and food to a high standard and reasonably priced. Toilet/shower blocks immaculate. Good child play area.
Local area: Plenty to do and see. Dartmouth and Salcombe worth a look.
Overall an excellent site, we'll be going back for sure.

Just arrived home from site after an extremely enjoyable 6 days.
The site was quite full so choice of pitches was not great, but we were lucky and found a large pitch with sea views at the top of the hill. Some pitches do seem quite small and would be quite difficult to get a large unit on to them.
Toilet blocks were immaculate (No need to say any more)
Pool was fantastic and very warm, but a few more seats around the pool area would help.
Bar area is great but can't comment on food as we did not eat there.
There is entertainment every night, and the two nights that we saw the entertainment, it was of a good standard.
When we had dealings with the wardens they seemed very helpful and friendly.
The surrounding area is just beautiful, great beaches and great fresh seafood in Brixham harbour.
This site is a must and we will return very soon
