We visited this site for my partners 50th birthday. We planned a meal in Torquay and a trip to Cornwall on the Sunday. We arrived at a very quiet site on the Friday. We were told to choose a pitch. We chose one with a distant sea view. A breezy afternoon as the site is quite exposed. That afternoon we waited forty minutes for a bus to Brixham as one did not arrive. Arriving back at the site early evening we went into the clubhouse, which is really nice. Won the quiz ( a plus), . All well until being awakened at four a. M by the worse thunderstorm Ive heard and seen. Shaken by wind and rain for several hours we couldn't sleep and packed up early morning to go home. A much planned weekend ruined. I cant blame the site for the weather but wanted to point out that if the weather is bad the site is exposed and you will know about it!

Very large 250 pitch Caravan Club site located on exposed hilltop location between Brixham and KIngswear. Some pitches are fantastic sunny South facing with fantastic sea views, however most don’t!
Nearest walkable beach involves a 2 ½ mile trek with 170m steep hilltop decent (plus climb back!), however a regular ½ bus service runs directly outside the site to Brixham and Kingswear.
Unusual for the Caravan Club this site has a small shop, restaurant/bar and seasonal opening outdoor swimming pool. Also the site has a children’s play area, games and recreational field.
Two facilities blocks to a very high standard with the usual laundry and washing up.
Personally with a large motorhome this site is too large and is not in a convenient location for either direct walks from the site or cycling due to the busy narrow roads and lack of footpaths. Need either car or bus pass to make the most!

Excellent site where staff make you welcome, work hard to maintain site and are very helpful. Travelling with a 7 year old boy and friends who have brought a dog we can commend pitches, views, atmosphere, quiet at night, shop, outdoor pool (clean and perfect temperature), staff attitude exceptional (follow reasonable rules but flexible and helpful beyond anything we have experienced elsewhere), Shower blocks perfect (clean, plentiful, good size cubicles with wet & dry area, proper pressure and not only can you choose temperature, you do not have to push button every 10-30 seconds. You actually get a lever with constant water! If you are new to campervanning trust me, this is the first shower of this type I have found in 2 years!) park, field for sport or kites, dog walking and bar. If you like evening entertainment or eating out on site choice is limited and quality not the best, but better than nothing. If you like to walk to resort from site also not for you. However e bus and taxi services to town, regular and quick. Apart from those 2 minor things, we cannot fault site, have been twice and will return over and over without question.

We stayed here for 5 nights. This site was very hesitantly booked for us. We don't like large sites, if it has a club house, we steer well clear & if it has a pool, it's a no no. However, we needed to book somewhere last minute and you can trust the Caravan Club so booked Hillhead. Well we were pleasantly surprised!
Although there are a lot of pitches, you aren't overlooked and it never ever felt crowded. Some have a fab seaview.
Toilets/showers/washrooms always clean and the staff ever so friendly and helpful. We went to the clubhouse once & it was good. Also used the pool, which was again really nice too.
I just really liked the peacefulness of this site despite so many facilities and pitches.
It also seems to attract the friendliest of campers.
Would recommend to anyone.

We have just got back after staying at this site for 5 nights over Easter 2013. Although the weather was very cold it remained dry. Because of the expected influx of extra campers over Easter the second toilet block was opened. What an experience that was. I have never been so warm in my life, the under floor heating was great.
I can't tell you in just a few words how helpful the staff were. I would need to write a book. They were great.
Having turned 60 we decided to make more use of public transport, it couldn't be better. The people in all the places we visited were also great. A really good time was had by all.
A very convenient site for Brixham, Totnes, Buckfast Abbey, Paignton and Torquay.
A truly 5 star site. Well done.

This site is a fantastic site, clean and tidy, the staff are extremely friendly and also not as militant as some caravan club sites.
We arrived and parked up on a plot and put up our awning in a really strong wind, hence it was only put up to a fashion. We found that the plot was not level which threw out the awning by a long way and also due to the position the van, it was being buffeted by the strong winds off the sea. We requested to move which they allowed us to do without any hassle at all. The view out over the channel and also from the dog fields was great. All the plots have plenty of room for the setup, and some more.
The entertainment for the time of year was good, ideal for kids and adults alike. The toilets and shower facilities were fantastic, the cleanest I have ever had the pleasure to use.
Nearest town of Brixham is a nice place to visit and Paignton is not too far either for a day out. But be aware the torbay road is constantly gridlocked during the day and we spent a hour trying to get the other side of Torquay.
complaints are, the plots were not all level and can cause some problems but with blocking the van up etc it can be worked around. And the dog field Was not really big enough with the amount of dogs using it, and found people were going away and coming back when it was less busy due this fact.

Very nice, secure touring/camping site with plenty of level hard standing pitches (many with sea view). The best thing about the site has got to be the excellent toilet/shower blocks. Many spotlessly clean showers, toilets, and individual sink cubicles. Cleaned daily. These are as yet the best facilities we have come across in 2 years of touring.
Constant water flow by tap and full temperature controlled showers add to this, as do the separate shower and dressing area in each cubicle. If, like us you think the cleanliness and standard of the toilet/shower blocks is very important then this is the site for you. Keep your side of the bargain and follow the friendly instruction on the wall to mop your cubicle after use with the supplied mop and disinfectant filled bucket.
Excellent play area for the kids with many things for them to play on, a fenced off dog run/exercise area of considerable size and plenty of water/waste/bin areas. Very good bar area with dog friendly covered terrace, arcade and entertainment (which is a decent volume and not ear piercing like some sites!).
Sited half way between the Dartmouth car ferry and Brixham you have plenty of places to explore.

This is my teenage daughters favourite site and we have been 3 times now. She loves the games room and the pool and there are always plenty of other teenages to make friends with. She also enjoyed the go kart track nearby.
We like the entertainment in the clubhouse especially the quizzes although this year some of the entertainment was a pretty poor standard.
The public transport is good and we love getting the bus to Kingswear then the small car ferry across to Dartmouth. Alfs cafe is great and we enjoyed getting fish and chips from Rockfish and a beer from the Dartmouth Arms and sitting on the front watching the boats. We also enjoyed eating at the Seven Stars in Totnes.
The main problem with Hillhead is it is desparate need of more hardstandings. There had been heavy rain before we arrived and during our stay and many of the grass pitches were waterlogged. It was like musical pitches all week and as soon as one group left a hardstanding, another family relocated from a grass pitch. We had a nice hardstanding in a cul de sac but even we got stuck on the grass pitch opposite trying to reverse onto our pitch as it was very tight.
Its also getting very expensive costing nearly £300 for 2 adults and a child for 8 nights. My friend paid a lot less than that for 7 nights at a private site in Devon that had the same facilities and she has 3 children so we may try that next year instead.

Great little site but because they allow dogs you get non stop barking even at night! Whilst I don't mind dogs why are owners so inconsiderate? The bar area is quite small and if you want a seat you'll need to get there very early. Entertainment wise everything is alright if you like a bit of cheese! Pool is small and gets crowded pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and On hand to help. The hard standings are pretty poor on the bottom of the site which are literally on the road. So if you have small children absolutely you need to avoid. You will be scared of letting your children play! great children's play area. Very good. Apart from that a good site but they need to ban dogs.

Those of us who regularly use the caravan club sites have come to appreciate the cleanliness, helpfulness of the wardens, modern facilities and this site lives up to those standards in every way.
Sadly, the extremely small plot sizes and the dip down on to a number of the pitches that cause problems and for the first time I was unable to manoeuvre my caravan onto the pitch due to the size and slope. There is just not enough room fit your car on the plot if you have your awning up. I have been to many CC sites and never seen one as bad as this. One of the main reasons I use club sites is for the space but this site is sadly well short
The location is a bit too far to walk into Brixham but there is a bus stop outside but I believe is expensive to use so no real incentive to leave your car on site. This site reminds of those commercial sites that squeeze as many in as they dare and are more interested in income than amenity, not what you would expect from the caravan club.
On the plus side as with all CC sites wardens are very helpful and accommodating it has a good swimming pool and club house with a good restaurant and bar and a well-stocked shop also both toilet blocks were spotless.
It’s also a good location for the South Devon coast. This is not a site I will be rushing back to there are far better sites in and around the area.
