Very pleasant surrondings with fantastic bluebell wood adjacent. There is lots for kids to do in the wood with adventure playgrounds and a "PlayTrail" Good fry up at the on site cafe and nice little gift shop with a few food essentials.
When we were there they were building a new toilet and shower block, which they would need at a busy time I think. The water in the showers was hot but the pressure wasn't very good. Apparently they are working on that too!
The pitch we were on was huge, even for our Hartford XL. They seem to be doing so groundworks to plant little hedges in between some of the pitches.
Not far from Trowbridge which is a nice little town and worth a visit.
Good site which will be further enhanced by better toilet blocks.
We enjoyed it despite the awful weather and will return!

Camped here for three nights. Came especially to visit Longleat, which was ten minutes drive away. Brilliant site, very clean toilet/ washing and shower facilities. Lovely setting. Ten minutes stroll down the road is the Kicking Donkey, a small country pub with good ale and fantastic food. Well worth visiting. We will return again.

We have just returned from a long weekend on this site, there were 2 caravans in our party and 4 children aged 10 - 14, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the woods, though "Adventureland" which was for older children was only just still suitable for the 13 and 14 year olds. We thought the site was a little pricey at £20 a night as the showers were extremely unpredicatable, the water dribbled out of the shower head and although the water was on a 5 minute timer the temperature varied considerably in those 5 precious minutes, (you needed a buddy with you incase your 5 minutes ran out whilst under the water as the switch was on the door jam outside the shower). There were 2 extra showers in a portacabin but these only had curtains across them not doors!. Could do with more washing up facilites, only 2 sinks. Apart form not being happy with these facilities we found the site very friendly and family orienated. Wouldn't rush back.

We stayed at this campsite just so that we could visit Longleat which was about 20 mins away from here. The campsite does sale tickets discounted about £2.00 each.
The campsite is level and you do get a decent size pitch, so you didnt feel cramped at all. The staff were helpful although very strict. Having a 2 and 4 year old, it was a shame it was a no scooters or cycles policy.
The walks around the park were lovely with lots of play equipment for the children to play on. If you had slightly older children at least they would be occupied however there was no actual play equipment in the campsite.
I thought the £18.00 per night was a bit steep for the facilities provided. Toilets/showers were clean although could do with more, the queue was long in the morning and night time and water pressure was very low. One woman I heard said she couldnt get her hair wet enough to wash it.
My main point to warn all campers though was the overwhelming stench from the toilets. I don't know what was going on there but it drifted across the campsite and all around the toilet block even by the shop as you booked in. If I were in pitches 1 - 7 I would have asked for a refund and left. Pitch 1 - 2 is right by the toilets and washing up point. I wouldnt want to stay there.
Generally the campsite was OK. I have been to far better for less money. The only draw for this campsite is the park. If you are going to be busy sightseeing I would opt for another. However if you have children of an age that they can go and play independantly from you and you are planning not doing a whole lot, then your children will make the cost worthwhile.

Visited site in early August and was very happy with what we found. The site wasn't too big, with space for around 50 caravans and 20 tents. Although there is a road adjacent to the site, we didn't find this a problem and heard very few vehicles driving past. That said, however, we were on the opposite side of the field and there was only the 2 of us. To be honest, we found the site lovely and relaxing and very peaceful. The only thing to disturb the peace and quiet whilst we were there was when I ripped our brand new porch awning and the air turned slighty blue. I put this slight calamity down to the fact that we had been put on a pitch with a hard standing with a very very hard surface. Guess who didn't have any hard ground pegs? Unfortunately neither did the small shop, but their directions for the camping shop in Trowbridge were excellant. I even managed to bend 1 of the new pegs the next day! The toilets, whilst a little small, were kept very clean. The only exception being the bin for the waste paper towel, which should of been bigger and emptied more often.
As I said, we found the staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed for 3 nights and found the site ideal as a base for doing the touristy bits. We went to Bath (about 20 miles away) and Longleat (about 10 miles away) during our stay. We bought 'passport' tickets from the shop for Longleat saving £4 which we were pleased about.
Overall, I would give this site a definate 8-9 out of 10. We didn't get to see much of the park, but I wish we had. I would certainly recommend ths site to anyone who wants a base to travel out from or as a lovely location to spend a quiet and peaceful weekend.

We had high hopes of this campsite having read the other reviews but were rather disappointed in the end. The park itself is lovely with a lake and plenty of places for the kids to play but the campsite seems to have been an afterthought. Arriving at the field we were amazed at how many pitches were crammed in. The pitch we had was half hardstanding, half grass up to a hedgerow. We had hoped to park the motorhome and have the awning on the hardstanding to enable us to sit out on the grass, but we couldn't get tent pegs into the hardstanding as it was about 2 centimetres of gravel over brick! So we had very little space outside of the awning (which only just fit on the grass). The new toilet/ shower block was lovely and warm and there is a new portacabin with four more showers. Unfortunately the old showers had no power behind them, and the new ones cycled between boiling hot and freezing cold (everytime someone flushed the loo I think!)The blocks were kept clean, but supplies of soap and paper towels were a bit hit and miss. There was an unfortunate overpowering smell from the septic tank which extended from the campsite over to the shop and cafe, which was probably partly to do with the glorious weather we had for most of the week, but did put us off from eating outside the cafe. The shop is open every day in season and supplies mainly toys/ souvenirs but provides a small amount of groceries and camping supplies. There are supermarkets within a few miles for further supplies, and an excellent camping shop in Trowbridge (BCH camping)for those forgotten items. The surrounding area is beautiful, and there are plenty of local attractions. The Kicking Donkey pub is within walking distance and does fantastic food - well worth a visit. We still enjoyed our week - the other people visiting were very friendly and we had lots of interesting chats in the washing-up area! - but I don't think we'll be returning.

This was our first camping trip and we would agree with some of the other comments. The site was kept nice and clean. The shower block was clean but a little on the small side, not much room to move round or put bags of toiletries in the sink area.
The field was nice and level and even though it chucked it down all day the second day the only realy wet areas were on the road (huge puddles). The site was quite busy on the friday night but everyoone was very friendly and not too noisy.
The only problem we had was the shop and cafe opening times. The shop did not open untill 10am and closed at 5pm as did the reastraunt. This wasn't much use to us as we went out for the day as I presume do a lot of people. It would be good to know these opening times before you get there as we arrived at 4.30 so by the time we'd set up the shop had closed, thank god I drink black coffee.
The walks are lovely and the playgrounds are fun for the kids so all in all a nice site.

July 2005 We camped here with our tent last July and are booking again this year. Me and hubby, and our children of six and one and a half years old had a fantastic time. As seasoned campers I can honestly say this is one of the best camp sites we have ever stayed at.
We found all facilities clean and well looked after by the visitors and the staff to be warm, helpful and friendly. There was a new toilet block when we stayed there, along with gift shop, tea room etc catering for our every need. You can also hire a barbeque from the shop to use at one of the picturesque spots dotted around the lake side, no barbeques are allowed on the camp site, the campsite promotes conservation and preservation and they take it very seriously. This is not a site for those fond of commercial entertainment, the enthasis here is one of good old fashioned fun and fresh air!
This is indeed a beautiful location, the site got its David Bellamy Award for Conservation and its not difficult to see why, set amongst ancient forest with a wonderful lake there is plenty of scope for numerous walks and exploration for the nature lover. Brokers wood have lots of play sites, one for toddlers and one for older children plus a visitors centre. A miniature railway goes into the woods to another adventure playground for those who do not wish to walk, for those who wish to walk the walking path has numerous play equipment dotted amongst the trees to add interest for the children - no moans were heard from our children, every walk was an adventure!
There is enough to entertain here for free, but we also found the site to be conveniently situated for travel to Westbury, Longleat Park, Bath, and more. Longleat is around 15 minutes drive away and we purchased a passport at a reduced rate from Brokers Wood allowing us to visit the animal park one day and went back on numerous days to visit the other attractions, very good value all round.
For those who wish to eat out, there is pub within walking distance from site which we heard very good reviews about but ourselves didn't visit around four miles away was an excellant hungry horse pub which offered great value food.
Couldn't fault this campsite in any way, give it a try.

July 2004 Site was quiet, pleasant, clean. We weren't too happy about the road on the other side of the hedge though.
Only 5 showers, 2 men, 2 women & 1 disabled. Really needed more. Clean though.
Staff very friendly and helpful. It would have been more useful if the shop had opened a little earlier than 9am.
Good to take the children on evening walks through the forest and on the play trails which finished up in an adventure playground, suitable for 3years and up.
Miniature train running from 12am till 5 ish. Cost £1 for return journey between the two adventure play areas.
Lake for fishing. Picnic areas in trees.
Summary. Enjoyed it and would go again to this site, mainly because of the park to occupy the children.
