Despite being the hottest weekend of the year the site was only about 3/4 full mainly families with lots of younger children. Most of which kept running around the back of our tent kicking the ehu lead and guy ropes. Pitches quite small but still enough for our 7x4 tent plus windbreaks and dogs. All seemed very flat. The ehu can be a bit far from some pitches too.
Road along back of site quite busy by day but quietens down at night. Also had 2 big low flying planes overhead first night followed by a helicopter. All around 11pm.
Very relaxed about the rules though which may suit some people. 11pm quiet rule not adhered too as we could hear people laughing and talking til midnight which included a group of about 8 pitches having a big party all day Saturday. Didn't really disturb us but rules are rules. Also saw firepits even though none are allowed, plus dogs not tethered. No wardens seen about after 5 so probably why.
Facilities block reasonably clean but could have done with an evening tidy up as more than once the toilet seats had urine on them. No urinals in mens but in main block 3 cubicles and 3 showers for male and female. Why the put a second block behind the main block is a mystery though. Put it more central as its a good walk from far end to facilities. 3 washing up sinks again only cleaned once per day.
Water points few and far between.
Only 1 refuse/recycling area by facilities block, could do with some smaller areas around the site.
Toddlers playbarn at site entrance well equipped with another play area for older kids which ours loved but not as much the second play area in the middle of the woodland park. £1 return train or a 7/8 min walk to get to it though. Both parks are open to day visitors so smaller children obviously need to be watched.
Didn't try the cafe really apart from a takeaway tray of chips which weren't worth the £1. 50 in my opinion. Shop sells icecream and some other touristy bits.
The woodland park is just that, woodland with a fishing lake ok for a walk but not much else to do.
Narrow single track roads leading to site so careful if you have a big caravan.
2. 5 miles to asds/tesco and some other shops.
O2 phone signal hit and miss.

We had a great time here over the Jubilee weekend and into the next week, despite the almost non stop rain! We had a pitch with electric hookup which was of a reasonable size and very well drained - no puddles formed while we were here, but I did notice some other pitches starting to look very muddy.
I didn't find the road a problem at all. It is a country lane, with a car passing every hour or so during the night, but on the other hand I wan't pitched right next to it.
The toilets / showers are fine, and the woods and play areas are great, our kids loved them.
The only negative I would give is to the rather strange signs saying that all children under 12 must be escorted to the loos, however this wasn't enforced, that I could notice, so I didn't have to spend my whole break escorting my 3 kids up and down the field.
Pubs - I found the beer at the kicking donkey nondescript to poor and very expensive. The pub a bit further away (the full moon I think) had much better kept beer and cheaper (I can only speak for the real ale).

As we had visited Longleat on this day we had needed somewhere to camp afterwards (we did NOT want to do the drive back to Devon after such a long day), so we found Brokerswoood to be close and with available pitches.
Over the phone the staff were patient (I had a lot of questions) and friendly, providing us with information and help very readily. We'd informed them that we would be arriving late and they were more than happy to arrange entry for us.
However when we did arrive and started putting up the tent we had a visit from 'someone' of the site, who did not give us the warmest of welcomes.
The warden, on the other hand, was very friendly and helpful - showing us where we could park the other cars and and giving advice on what to do should the cars start slipping on the grass.
The problem was that we were pitch right next to a hedge which separated us from a busy road. This meant that my wife barely got any sleep as there were cars that would, essentially, drive rather fast right past our heads. It would've been nice to inform us of this at the time of booking so that we could've brought earplugs with us.
The next day I visited the now open reception and gave our car registrations to the staff - although we were leaving after just one night I felt is was best to give them the relevant information. They were just as friendly and helpful in person as on the phone, which was nice.
The cafe which was adjoined to the reception was nice, the food and drinks available were lovely, and again the staff were great.
Although I didn't end up using the showers (we forgot our towels and were heading home that day anyway) when I entered the facilities in the morning I could tell that the water was hot as steam had warmed the building.
Included in the price of the pitch is entry to the rest of the country park - which is brilliant in my opinion. Although we did not see the rest of the area we walked past a few displays of different logging techniques used over the years and a great play area which I know the nephews had great fun on!
Just down the road from the campsite are several pubs; The Kicking Donkey, The Full Moon (as was it half moon?) and one whose name escapes me. Although the kicking donkey had no tables I have it on good authority that the food there is good. Since they had no tables we had to go to the Half/Full Moon. Here the staff kindly re-arranged the tables and chairs to suit all 15 of us. The food was WONDERFUL, And helped finish off a tiring day.
I summary had we not been pitched by the road, or given warning before hand, the nights sleep would've been much better. Apart from that the rest of the area and facilities were great (excellent for the price). On the whole the staff were excellent!

Arrived on the 22th Oct for a week, we were given a pitch by the road; this part of the site did not get sun until the later part of the day. While on the opposite side of the site where the caravans were, had the sun from early morning all day. This impacted greatly on drying the tent from the early morning dew and there were a quite a few empty non electric pitches that had sun which would have better to offer than designating a pitch for tent that offered no sun I know this has been highlighted on a previous review as an issue. The pitches were 10ft which for our tent did not leave any space, we were lucky that that there were no other campers to park our car – if there had been we would have had to park the car on the car park. The pitches were not very good at drainage as we had a puddle underneath the tent.
The showers and toilets were of a good standard and were very warm, the idea of separate sink stalls was good and provided privacy however I can foresee in the summer holidays that there would be a queue for showers and toilets. The road was very close to us and the speed of the traffic was blowing the tent at times which was startling.
The space in the country park was lovely to walk around and the pub close by ‘kicking donkey’ made us feel welcome and provided lovely meals. We spent 2 days at Longleat which was reason for being in this part of country which was absolutely brilliant and the house was magnificent.

A Beautiful place to visit.
We have just spent a wonderful week at Brokerswood and it has beautiful grounds including a lake, various wildlife and a working sawmill as well as woodlands.
The site itself has all you need although the shop has limited supplies so you need to go equipped with all the essentials. There is a cafe on site and the meals are quite a good selection.
The sawmill is educational and there are also well equipped playgrounds for children of all ages.
The site welcomes coaches but you can only access the site with a security code so you feel secure.
The shower rooms have everything you need and having used them at all times of day and night they were always kept clean, they also have baby changing facilities and hairdryers in them.
The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble in fact we had a problem with our vehicle on the last day and needed to be towed home so we left some things on site and they were good enough to say they would hold onto them until we return, which we definitely will.
The laundry room is just one washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board but I don't go away to do those mundane things I would do at home so it depends on your needs.
We visited Bath, Trowbridge, Frome and the Cotswolds and everything was within 30mins away or less.
Make sure you have a torch for going in and out at night because the lighting is minimal.
Dogs were welcomed as long as they were looked after and we took our 2 dogs who loved the woods and the walks, some people did not take as much care about ensuring their dogs behaved but these people only stayed short term, thank goodness, but I feel if we needed to complain the owners stated they would remove such people from the site so you can't ask for a better service.
This site is a must if you need a break, an education, enjoy walks, or just to chill out.
We will definitely go back, you must visit it or you will be missing out on a very special site.

The pitch sizes on this camp site are probably the smallest we have come across. The road that runs alongside is also quite busy and noisy so would recommend you pick pitches away from the roadside.
The shower block facilities are OK. There is a newish shower block and an older one behind with outdoor washing up facilities.
The main criticism I would have with this site is that they do not allow families of more than 2 tents to pitch together.
For us camping with 3 other families all with children under 7 years this means you cannot relax in the evening and have a chat with your friends unless you leave your children in a tent on the other side of the site which is obviously a bad idea!
For a park that promotes itself as child friendly the attitude of the park was uncompromising and unfriendly on this matter.

A nice site in a country park. Ideal/perfect for families with children of less than 12 years old. The Park has 3 play areas and a small train. The park is open to the public during the day, however early evening we had the play areas to our selves.
The staff are very helpful, even to the point the lady wanted to go home and get me an onion as the shop didn't have one.
The pitches were Ok, we were on the hardstanding and there was space for the caravan, car and awning. There was space at the rear for sitting and BBQ's.
The road along side is quite a minor road and we did not hear much traffic.
My only negative was the toilets and showers. They were in the wrong place at the entrance to the field and needed to be in the middle. The tents at the top of the field had a long walk on a dark site at night. Also the time switch on the block caught me and other campers out quite a few times. They were always clean and we had no waiting time.
I would visit this site again and I would recommend any one visiting Longleat with a dog or Children to us it. We also visited Bath and took a boat out for the day on the Bath & Avon Canal. The Information shed was the best I have ever seen for local information.

Small friendly site next to woodland park. Just a short distance from Longleat and Bath. Price includes entry to park and use of brilliant play area for kids of all ages. Separate under cover area for under 5's. Small train runs through woodland to another play area at a minimal charge of £1 return. Great place for families and dog friendly. Wellies a must. Nice cafe on site with small shop. Good size pitches, we had hard standing but grass is available for tents in the summer. Two shower blocks clean and tidy, only criticism would be the closure of toilets and showers between 9 and 10 in the morning. As a family we love this site, it's open all year round and the staff are the best of all sites we have visited in our 9 years of caravanning.

We visited the site for 3 nights with teenage children we wanted it as a base for going to longleat and Bath which were both close by as described when I called to book.
We went in a very busy period at the start of the school holidays so obviously there were a lot of young children on site.
I found the pitch we were on to be very close to the ones either side of us and also the ones behind us The road was just in front of us too with more tents opposite so it felt very cramped. With no room to sit outside in comfort.
There was a no noise rule after 11pm but with no body to enforce it
The facilities were very clean with plenty of hot water the staff were lovely and helpful and the adventure parks were great for the kids. The lake and woodland were beautiful
We would stay there again but would go out of school holiday period.

Left disappointed !
The pitch sizes were snug to say the least, to many for the size of the field. We have a large tent and found it difficult (if not impossible) to park next to our pitch.
Unfortunately the pitch we occupied was next to a Blue wooden train for the kids to play on, which was to close to several pitches. This meant constant noise / screeching all day and upto 10pm at night. NO respect was given for the pitch, and we returned from a day out to a broken guy rope.
Apart from the welcome on arrival, not sure how this site has got such a good reputation.
The bathrooms (men) had three showers and three toilets and three sinks in the new front block. Shower units were large enough for two (ie Adult and a child)these got very busy. Was also two family bathrooms that could be used for a fee ! The old shower block, two showers, two toilets and one sink were a lot smaller. Hand dryers were less than useful as they blew air, but not adequately enough to dry hands.
Two good play parks and walks in the park, got very busy though.
If you want to base yourself in the park, and let your kids go and enjoy the play parks, and can put up with small, noisy pitches then you will get what you are looking for.
Unfortunately we will have to find another site to finish our exploration of this part of England.
