Overall a decent site. Pitches were large and level. A few observations:
- It's quite a hike from the far end of the site to the toilets and showers. It would be good to see another block at the other end
- Washing up area has 3 sinks, meaning over the peak weekend it's mayhem
- Although the park has two play areas for kids, it would be good if they built a better (small) play area in the site. There is just a small train thing.
Obviously the main draw is Longleat, however it's great to explore the whole area. Bath now has it's much improved shopping area.
There is a pub within walking distance (The Kicking Donkey). It's got a good garden that catches the late sun, but the beer and food is not up to much. There's the full moon in Ridge. Again a good garden, and better food, but the stench of a septic tank in the garden somewhat took the enjoyment out of it.

My partner and I stayed here due to the site's proximity to Longleat. For that it can't be faulted. It's also close to lots of other attractions and there are plenty of pubs and supermarkets a short distance away.
As the site is within a country park there are quite a few rules and regulations, with wardens around to enforce them.
We didn't really see any staff after booking in, but the ones we spoke to were nice and helpful, and explained about the shop and cafe on site. Can't comment on either of these as we didn't use them.
The site is flat with large pitches, with one side of the field right next to the road, which was a bit of a nuisance for noise. As it is a very family orientated site there were naturally lots of children, so if you're looking for peace and quiet I wouldn't recommend staying here.
The toilet blocks are nice and clean, with another block which opens when the site is busy. However, my partner commented on the lack of urinals in the gents which naturally caused quite the queue! The washing up area is also much too small when you consider the size of the site.
We wouldn't stay again but that's more because of the family nature than anything against the site. If you've got young kids then it's ideal.

Phoned up the day before to check for space, the site had about 3 tents and 10 campervan / trailer tents so plenty of room. When checking in and out a very friendly group of wardens making you feel wanted.
Price is a bit high but the site is clean and tidy. I reported a problem with one of the shower cubicles and this was fixed the same day. The country park car park was very busy the day we left due to an event happening.

We stayed here over the Easter Break. So paid High Season £29 a night which I don't think was worth it. It had rained heavily for few days before so most pitches had an inch of rain on them that had not soaked away. Therefore it was difficult to find part of the pitch that was not a puddle to put awning on.
Pitches were large 10 x 10 but on some there were some large tunnel tents that took up most of space so you were very close to the neighbours.
When we were leaving they were filling in the potholes on the road.
Toilet block was modern, clean despite the amount of mud around, and nice and warm in the evenings. Showers were busy in the morning with queues building up. They did have 2 separate family bathrooms, but they were an extra £2 and you had to book them for a half hour slot.
Shop didn't sell any essentials food which was disappointing. Friday night at the cafe is take away fish and chips which were nice and cooked to order.
Country park was nice to walk around, plenty to occupy the kids but very very muddy, don't think I would have paid £12( family of 4) for a day trip visit there, there are nice and cheaper country parks to visit.
As you come off the A36 and drive down to the site you do pass 3 pubs, unfortunately we didn't get to try any of them.
We stayed at this site due to location to Longleat. Its only about20 mins away and a nice easy drive.

We have just spent a week at this site. Although it was wet for most of the time we stayed the Country Park is really lovely.
The site had a lot of pot holes which may be cause for concern if they are not filled in before the summer season really starts.
The bathrooms were very clean, warm and enjoyable to use.
The shop was a little disappointing as it does not sell any thing but Gifts and a few sweets, and the cafe was a bit hit and miss as the weather it was open or not and when they would cook till, I did think 3pm was very early to finish cooking hot meals, but it was very quite on the Country park so we did understand. It would have been handy to have maybe a notice board up to inform people of the times of opening that day??
We really enjoyed walking through the Country Park and would recommend a visit to anyone as they have a lovely area by the lake with built BBQ's and Picnic area I can imagine in the Summer this would be ideal for family's.
We took our 3 dogs with us and they were very welcome but word of warning the Park dose get very muddy and by the sounds of it does not completely dry out so watch out for dirty dogs if you take them, ours loved running through the woods.
We would love to return to this site in the warmer weather just to get the best out of it, and to catch some of the places we missed because they were still closed for the winter. So much to do round here.

A very nice location and the bonus is - open all year! I like winter camping so this is a must
Clean and modern toilet/shower facilities with lovely hot water, another must for the winter and very close by the tent area
A lovely area to visit and well worth a look at the Westbury White Horse and there's a castle very near by
Very reasonable prices at £11 the night for 2 persons, tent and car and we were able to come and go at will with the security number for the barrier
The whole country park is well set out and could see how enjoyable it would be for a family. I photographed the lake with very good reflections as the sun was just going down for the night and even spotted the White Horse in the distance
It was nice seeing all the birds feeding so near the camp area and hearing the woodpeckers in the trees behind
I would definitely visit this site again if down that way as you couldn't wish for better

An excellent campsite for all ages. The site has an 80 acre woodland with lots of trails through it, 2 adventure play areas, one for young children and another more suitable for 6yrs plus but little ones were enjoying it too. Our girls (14yrs & 12yrs) loved the zip wire/death slide & the assault course. The woodland was extremely muddy and 'old' clothes and wellies were essential.(Behind the Cafe you can find a 'Welly Wash Area', fantastic!) There were also an adventure trail which had lots of climbing frames etc en route, a pretty lake with picnic & BBQ areas around it & a little railway through the woods.
The Shower Block was the best we have ever come across on a campsite, it was always clean and warm no matter what time of day we visited it. The Showers were always hot and powerful, 3 each in the Ladies & Gents, but another Block opens at busier times.
The hard standing pitch was gravel which did drain eventually but the road was like a sticky clay, wellies essential at this time of year.
The site has a lovely quite exclusive Gift Shop and a Cafe which we didn't try, but Friday night they did Take-Away Fish & Chips.
The Staff were all very friendly & helpful. We were able to pay £5 for a late check out which meant we could leave any time in the afternoon instead of the departure time of 11am.
We visited the lovely little town of Devizes, home of the Wadborough Brewery & Museum & the Calne flight of locks leading in to the town. We drove up to the White Horse by Westbury and had a wintry walk in a hail storm on the hill top by the horse, fantastic views.
There were only 2 negative points, (i) the lighting in the shower block was on a timer and sometimes you could be caught out showering or on the loo in the dark with only emergency lighting and (ii) the electric hook up point may be a long way from your pitch but you could hire hook up cables with a refundable deposit.

Just spent 4 days at the end of half term week at Brokerswood.
The site has much going for it, the woods are great, the lake is pretty, the play areas are excellent, and the little train was a highlight for our daughter.
The facilities are generally ok. The toilet block was good, despite outward appearances, but I was less keen on the combined fresh water fill / waste emptying points. The chemical emptying point is at ground level, which some might find an issue.
We stayed in the Caravan Club CL part of the site, which is inside the edge of the treeline. However, it is between two areas of car parking for day visitors, and despite 'residents only' signs, the road between the pitches was used by both site staff and visitors as a thoroughfare. This and the noise from the car parks did much to spoil the sense of tranquillity you might have expected in the woods. The close proximity of the estate sawmill and workshops finished off the rest!
The pitches themselves are small. There are runs of paving slabs for the van, and a stone chipped hard stand for an awning, but nowhere for your car if you have a full awning, unless you park across the front, which would leave you partially in the access road, which would be a concern for the reasons above.
We also had noise issues on 3 of our 4 nights there. On the first night the alarm on the workshops sounded 3 times, the first at 0230, and then twice more through the night (seemingly just as I had dropped off!). The on site warden did not hear it. Apparently it happens when there are power cuts (note to add, there are power cuts!)
The second night was broken by the sounds of cars racing somewhere in the locality. The last night was shattered by an explosion around 2230, and then several smaller bangs. We found a burnt out van a short distance outside the site on the way home, which we presume was the source of these.
Obviously the site cannot be responsible for such things occurring offsite, (although the alarm is their issue) but to have 3 in 4 nights was very unlucky for us.
We looked at the main camping field, and as has been mentioned previously, the hardstanding is like a large layby, with no demarkation of pitches. However the whole site seemed clean and tidy.
All in all, not bad, and certainly if you want to go to longleat, then the site is well placed. We visited several other locations, getting details from the site info cabin (which could use an internal light, and something to stop the damp making the leaflets go all curly!)
If we were to return, it would be as day visitors to the excellent country park.

Spent 2 nights here first w/end of November. A really nice site. Stayed on one of the Caravan Club places. These are to be recommended as they are in amongst the trees, which given the weather was a great advantage. The staff are really friendly. The toilets and showers were fine.
There is a cafe on site which serves good food, a little bit expensive (£5 for breakfast), but very handy if you have an urge for a 'Full English', they also do a veggie version. The Kicking Donkey is a 10min walk away, a nice local with real ale and cider.
If you fancy going into Westbury for a beer,a taxi is £7 each way.
A previous review talks about traffic and rail noise. We did not have any problems with either, and I am a light sleeper.
All in all a very happy stay, and will certainly be returning.

This is a nice little camp site. There are good signposts out of Trowbridge so it’s easy to find and even though it is situated up some very narrow lanes, it didn’t deter those with larger units than ours. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and given good directions to the pitch. The pitches themselves were I thought, a little compact but this wasn’t too serious. The hard standing that we had was firm and level but a little close to the road perhaps. The male toilet/shower block that I used was clean and warm but the hardware is showing some signs of a need of a facelift. Also, the automatic lights never seemed to switch themselves on. Having said that, the shower units were extremely powerful and the water was wonderfully hot. Moreover, you don't have to keep pressing a button every 20 seconds or so to switch them back on as they are as constant as you want them to be. My wife thought the ladies block was fine and later informed me that there was a second male block and so these may well have been better in appearance. The shop is basic and there was also a nice looking café on site but we never used it. I bought a Camping Gaz 907 refill here and it cost £18.50 which is very reasonable. There is also free access to the on-site country park which has plenty to keep kids occupied but as we had Longleat passport tickets and this was the main purpose of our stay, we didn’t actually use the country park. Longleat was about 20 minutes away on very good roads and there are many other activities and sightseeing opportunities in the area. I would use this site again without question.
