The approaches to the site are narrow country lanes, but well worth the time and effort to spend a fabulous break. We spent 9 days walking the woods and feeding the ducks. The site was quiet this time of the year during the week. On the weekends it was Full of families having a great time on the train and the play trails, which are spread through out the woods, with climbing frames, swinging apparatus every where.
The Kicking Donkey pub is how you would want all pubs to be and only a short walk from the park. Good food and real ale.
The camp site is kept spotless, the wash blocks are like new. The on site shop and cafe seem to have everything you would need. The staff are friendly and helpful, leaving you alone to enjoy your stay. The site has 5 CL pitches, we were on no.5, these pitches are secluded by trees. Lots of shade in summer, no fun in October with falling leaves and rain, drip drip on the van. You would think after 20 yrs. camping we would know better. One of the Best Sites we have stayed on in all that time. Will return soon.
PS. The dog thought she was in Doggy heaven.

We loved this campsite. It is situated in a Country Park with acres of beautiful woods to walk in, kids play areas and a little train which takes you on a short ride through the woods. The cost of the pitch includes free entry to the park. It would have cost us £12 (for a family of 4) for a day in the Country Park, and was only £5 more to camp so we felt it was real value for money.
The toilet/shower block was clean and reasonably close (but not too close!). The only issue was that they were separate male / female blocks which some may prefer but made it more difficult for us with the kids. However, there were family bathrooms you could book (I think at a cost of £2 per half hour) which we would have done had our stay been longer.
There was a kids play area, but this was part of the Country Park rather than the campsite, so it wasn't visible from the pitches, and was next to the road into the park. It wasn't ideal for the kids to play on while we pitched the tent, and certainly younger kids couldn't play unaccompanied.
There is a lovely cafe in the park, with the best bacon butties ever, and a decent little shop.
They will freeze your ice blocks, but there is a cost of 25p per block per day.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. There was only one other group of campers when we stayed, and for some reason we had been allocated the pitch right next to them. Not ideal since we had noisy kids and they were a more mature couple. However we asked if we could move and the staff were happy to allocate another pitch for us.
All in all a great little campsite and we spent a really enjoyable couple of days exploring the woods and enjoying the unexpected October sunshine.

Stayed here on a wet weekend, many of the pitches were waterlogged. Site is OK, toilet block is OK (although one male block was closed all the time we were there).
Woods are good, although bikes are not allowed which takes some of the fun out of it.
My main problem is most of the tent pitches are next to the road, which although not very busy, any car going at 60mph 5 yards from your head has an effect.
Because of this and bikes I would probably not be going back.
On the plus side staff are very nice, as is cafe. Model railway for the kids is fun, and they liked the play areas

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the site with 3 and 4 year old girls.
On the positive side the customer service was the best we have experienced, after a confusion with the booking the problem was quickly sorted, the lady on the phone was extremely apologetic and we were compensated with a free night and an extended last day, fantastic.
The pitch was spacious and flat, away from the toilet area as requested which did get a bit smelly from time to time. The toilets were fairly clean and obviously cleaned each morning however the site was busy and it was muddy, the toilets did not remain clean for very long. There was a mop and bucket available to wipe muddy footprints but this was filthy dirty when we arrived and stayed like this for the 4 days. No hot water in the toilets for the first day.
The woodland park was not as spacious as expected, the undercover area for toddlers was a small converted outbuiding at the side of the roadway into the parkand would have been full with more than 6 children in it.The toddler area was fantastic my girls loved it but again this was at the bottom of the camping field opposite the carpark for the daytrippers. The playground for older children was a short walk or a train ride. The zip wire was really popular but this area did not have as much in it as I was expecting.
A word of warning about the cafe. The Wood does get busy over the weekend we were due to leave on the Saturday and called into the cafe for a quick bite to eat before leaving. After waiting 40mins we were told that they had run out of one of the dishes, our food finally arrive after an hour.
To sum up. I feel the campsite and Woodland area was a little rough arond the edges, facilities not as spaced out as expected and a little expensive however we did enjoy it, the girls loved the playarea, the short walks through all the mud and washing their wellies in the small streams. An excellent site as a base for Longleat.

We arrived early afternoon and checked in at the little cafe/shop and was met by some very helpful staff. We were allocated a plot for our tent which seemed strange as we were the only people there with a tent. After checking in we went to look for our plot and found we had been allocated a pitch next to a hedge that ran adjacent to the road. We didnt think this was a suitable spot so asked if we could change and they were more than happy for us to choose our own. The facilities on this site are excellent, The shower and toilet blocks are spotless as we noticed they are cleaned by a proffesional contractor every night. There is a lovely cafe that serves good food. There are also 2 very good adventure play aras for the children that our 2 and 9 year olds found great. There is also a very big fishing lake which I was hoping to use but found on arrival that it was closed season much to my wifes glee but my very own disappointment. There are lots of places to see of interest in the area and there is a great little pub down the road from the site called the kicking donkey which serves excellent food, Real ales and has very welcoming staff. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay, We would recommend the site and hopefully we will be returning in the near future.

We stayed on a UKCS meet and had a really good time. The site is spacious and the hard standing pitches are a good size.
The toilet block is lovely, clean and warm, and the showers are free but £2.50 to use the private bathroom for half an hour was a bit steep, in my opinion.
The country park attached to the site was excellent, with adventure playgrounds for children and plenty of space for them to run around, great for walking the dog and a huge lake for fishing. There is also a café and a gift shop.
The Kicking Donkey pub, just down the road, is dog friendly too.
I would stay here again, but only in low season as the tariff for the high season jumps up considerably.

Just spent a super 7 nights on a UKCS meet, the toilets were always clean and warm, even when the temp outside fell to -6, they also have bathrooms for hire £2.50 for 30 mins.
We had a hardstanding pitch, great, no muddy feet in the awning.
The country park was great, the kids loved the play areas and the train, small shop onsite, but only selling gifts and a small selection of sweets, didnt use the cafe, but did have takeaway chips & cheese :o)
Wellies a must in the country park, as it was very very muddy.

Camped on pitch next to my brother and his family. His tent is ENORMOUS but there was still enough room, though pitches are mostly unscreened and adjacent. I haven't camped in years and was pleasantly surprised by the facilities. Both shower blocks were ok, although showering with my 3 year old was easier in the new one as there is changing space in the cubicle. Both blocks were spotlessly clean and cobweb and spider free. The site was pretty full on Saturday night so it was noisy, but not enough to keep us awake (other than some bloke effing and blinding at 2 am!)
The playgrounds are ideal for toddlers and up - and is in the woods adjoining the field (so little ones must be accompanied, but my daughter loved it).
Cafe very nice, yummy cream tea, delicious brekkie, and ice creams for when hot, as well as free use of toys and colouring stuff to amuse the kids. Also sells bird food to feed the moorhens, ducks and geese on the lake.
Trowbridge 10 mins drive. Kicking Donkey pub just down road with play area in garden (not suitable for very small children though) and good range of food. Can see Westbury white horse from garden.
This was my brother's second visit and certainly won't be my last - my daughter's on at me to go again already!
I am a nervous driver and this was the easiest drive ever as it is just off the A36 - just a couple of miles down a lane.

Arrived at this site after visiting near by Wookey hole, the staff are friendly and informative.
We found our pitch - nice and level and hard standing as requested.
The toilet block is neat and tidy as is the whole site in general.
There is plenty for the kids to do in the adventure playground ,and for a small fee (£1.00 each) a train takes you through the woods to a second adventure playground.
There is even another enclosed playground for the little ones.
The near by lake is stocked with Carp for fishing or just feeding with bread from the bankside.
The shop has only a limited stock, but the cafe breakfast was very nice.
The site also encourages re-cycling of waste (why aren't all sites made to do so)
Brokerswood is also handy for Longleat ,Cheddar and the white horse.
The pub (kicking donkey) is also only down the road and serves good food and beer-get there early though.
Would we go back. We will indeed
