Just returned from a weekend at Delamere Forest. We went with friends who have never been and they loved the site. Its on the edge of the forest which we went for a bike ride with the kids and went to the visitor centre cafe. We love this site, its our second time visiting it and we will be returning next year.

The toilets and showers are immaculate, only niggle with the showers is they only last around 6 secs before you have to press the button again, a bit annoying but they were warm and welcoming.

A fish & chip van came on site on Saturday night which was a nice touch, we found a £3.50 carvery at Winsford which is only 8 miles away. There are lots of pubs in the area that do reasonable meals.

This site is a credit to the wardens who are very friendly and helpful and keep it immaculate.

Just returned from this site after a 3 night stay,The wardens were very friendly and asked if I needed help un-hitching (never been asked before)
the toilets and showers were very clean and the site itself was spotless. The pitches are a very good size and level,
there is a general store about a mile down the road and a discover leisure caravan shop a bit further along. The surrounding woodland is spectacular.

Stayed here several times because it's close to home so its more accessible to us for weekends away. Staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are spotless.

Being right next to the forest you can walk and cycle several way marked trails directly from the site so no need to use the car to get anywhere.

Noise from traffic and trains is only very minor and to be honest you hardly hear it over the general hum of campers.

I only have on minor criticism of the site and that's the showers are of the push button type. I find them a pain when trying to have a good soak especially when you are trying to shampoo long hair. That's just a minor personal issue though, my hubby thinks they are great.

Our family plus the wife's mother stayed on this wonderful site for a weekend and from the moment we arrived, we knew our stay would be good one.

We pulled up just after 12pm and were checked in by the very helpful warden and shown to our pitch in quick time. The wardens made sure we knew where everything was before leaving us to it.

Delamere Forest is right at your doorframe / tent flap and a couple of access gates gives direct forest access from the site and from these paths you can pick up the Delamere loop and woodlands walk.

This site had no playground or field for the kids but the forest is on your doorstep and the kids loved it there.

Delamere station is almost at the campsite entrance but please check the manner for which the trains call as I believe its a request stop only (i.E, you wave the train down).

The Go Ape centre is minutes from the site via the campsite gates and the bike riding paths are endless.

The water points are common and well spaced around the site but perhaps the only downside of the site as a whole was a lack of waste water points.

The toilets are clean, new and wonderfully hot and have a good pressure.

There is an on site shop which sells fresh eggs and milk etc but for those wanting more, there is a late opening store a mile to the south of the site stocking most items required.

The nearest town to the north is Frodsham and even if you don't wish to visit Frodsham for its rich history, then visit it for its wonderful chippy. Always handy for the first night.

Chester is not to far a drive away and unless you use the 'park and ride' system, then prepare to do battle with regards to the parking.

'Go Ape' was our reason behind staying on this camp-site. Its 10 mins from the 'Go Ape' station which was brilliant for us 40 somethings, as we have been known to get lost in Asda.

The campsite: idyllic and beautifully kept. The shower / toilet facilities: immaculate, but closed between 11am and 12.30 for cleaning which was inconvenient - departure time 12pm.

Main gripe, strictly, after 11pm, no talking above a whisper and definitely no laughing.

Would recommend this site to the over 60's only, not big enough site for families with children.

This was the first site we have used as brand new members of the Caravan & Camping Club being new to family camping.

We booked two nights at this site as it is close to home (in case of disasters with weather etc) and because it looks great in the club brochure. We were not disappointed.

The site is lovely and is very well run by really pleasant & friendly people who are there if you need them but leave you alone if you don't - the perfect blend. Very relaxed. Other things to note:

> The toilet/shower blocks are immaculate and the facilities overall are well kept and clean as a whistle.

> The pitches are level and well prepared

> There are baskets of flowers on top of the wooden bollards between sections of the site - a really pretty touch.

> Ancient Citroen Pizza van (with it's own chimney!) on Saturday nights is a great idea and good value.

> Go to the butchers in Kelsall for your barbie meat / sausage / burgers etc - the nicest we have had for some time, especially their home-made sausages.

> Delamere Stores close to the site in case you've forgotten anything, plus the site shop has a small selection of essentials.

> The information 'Summerhouse' on the site is has a wealth of really well researched and presented local information - even though we are from down the road, it proved very handy.

> Very close to and within a couple of minutes walk from Delamere Forest - brilliant waymarked walks, cycling etc and a lovely environment. (Our 5 yr old walked there in her Crocs, did a 3 mile walk in the forest, and walked back with no great issue as the paths are so well prepared)

> We didn't try it, but Go Ape (a short walk away in the forest) looks fantastic - next time!

> Snugbury's Ice Cream at the picturesque Railway Station - beautiful and guilt free if you have walked there! (2 minutes away on foot)

> Very little on the downside. The road that runs alongside the site can be a little noisy on occasion during the night as it's fast and straight, so take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Not a major issue at all - just be prepared especially if you are in a tent.

> There was a small issue with noise after 11pm from one group of campers on the first night, but this was dealt with very well by the site team and the second night brought a wonderful night's sleep.

Overall, this site gets 9 1/2 out of ten from us - a very high standard all round, very well run by lovely people and in a beautiful area. Go there.

Just wanted to say, lovely little site but management were rude!

Toilets great, clean and well stocked.

Forest right on the doorstep and fantastic for walking bike riding and dog friendly.

Would visit the are again but unfortunately not this site.

Local area is fantastic, loads to see and do, right in the heart of Cheshire, close to Chester and Frodsham being a great place to eat out.

 First visit to this site.

Great location parked the car on arrival and spent the week getting out and about on bikes buses and trains.

Very handy for train station and short trip into Chester. Friends and family railcard well worth getting for the amazing savings even on the shortest of trips.

Lovely bike rides around the forest & well marked out.

As for the campsite I found it to be very clean and tidy, lovely hot clean showers.

Just a few Gripes.

The keypad entry system proved to be a pain initially as it required reading glasses & paper with code on to be found prior to mid night essential visit (soon memorised keypad)

This is probably essential due to proximity of the site to visitor centres and train station but does remind you of being at work!

My main gripe is that all facilities are closed for an hour and a half from 11am for cleaning. Not sure what the reason for this is, usually not a problem as off site by then but on packing up day it would be nice to freshen up prior to departure that is due to be before 12.

I gather this is standard practice for many sites but does seem odd.

Would visit the site again as plenty in the area still to see.

Just got back from this cracking site. Staff friendly but not too intrusive. Toilet, shower and dishwashing facilities were immaculate. Pitches seem to be mostly flat. Non-electric field at the front of the park did seem to be a little prone to flooding in the middle but then again we did have some very heavy showers. Eleven o'clock curfew very well observed and as far as I know did not have to be enforced. A few too many caravans for my liking but yet to find a site where there isn't. Overall 9/10, nothing can be perfect.

Only spent 2 nights on site as a stop over on our way back to Devon. Wardens were very friendly and helpful, showed us to our site and pointed out all facilities on our arrival. Lovely clean toilet and shower facilities.Good little shop but not open very long hours. Great walks in forest adjoining site, ideal for dogs. Ideally situated for visiting interesting areas in Cheshire, ei. Anderson Lift well worth a visit.Would certainly recommend this site for a longer stay.
