I loved this site. It is literally on the outskirts of the Forest, you just walk through the gate and there is 70 miles of tracks to enjoy, plus a Go-Ape, if you like that sort of thing!
There was a wee bit of road noise but not intrusive and the trains from the adjacent station bothered us not at all. Wardens really friendly. When we arrived it was fish and chip night, delicious chips, the next night was pie night! We only stayed 2 nights but I understand Saturday is pizza night!
We caught the train to Chester (about 20 minutes and really cheap) and had a great day out. Loads to see. You can also catch the train to Manchester if you prefer.
There is lots to do in the area so we will be back.
The only minor gripe was that the showers were the push button variety and the flow seemed to last only for a few seconds. It would make a more comfortable bathing experience if these were adjusted but that is just a minor niggle. Go.You will enjoy it!

This is a very nice site, just a little near to the main road. The adjacent railway line produced no noise at all. The staff were very very helpful and friendly.
The toilet block was very clean if a little small and a nuisance when you have to push shower control every few seconds. Chip van on site on Fridays, get a free raffle ticket and the winner gets money off to spend on chippy van. All in all 8 / 10.

Just returned from 5 nights at this site and what a great site it is. The people who run the site are all very friendly and helpful. The facilities are spotless and the showers were always piping hot. A fish 'n' chip van visits the site on a Tuesday & Friday night and Thursday is pie night. Oh yeh pie night.
It is a 2 minute walk to Delamere station were you can get the train into Chester, Manchester or Liverpool, just use the cafe or get a lovely clotted cream ice cream.Great after a long bike ride. There is direct access to the forest from the site for cycling or walking so no fear of having to cross busy roads with children.
I do feel the site would benefit from a small play area for the kids as no ball games are allowed anywhere on the site other than a small wooded area, which for the more paranoid amongst us does not feel like the safest place for kids to be. There is a bit of noise from the road outside the site but you soon get used to that. All in all a lovely site which we will be visiting again.

This site is well worth a visit. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Pitches are very adequate we had a hard standing.
We also have a very long unit but it fitted onto the pitch well.
We backed onto the woods and didn't really notice any road noise. We went for long walks in the woods and relaxed on site.
There was a fantastic pizza van on Saturday night all cooked fresh in front of you, delicious.
The toilets were very clean and the showers were nice and warm although could do with a longer auto switch off. You also had plenty of hanging space on the back of the door. Something many sites fail to allow for.
If you can get a pitch it's well worth the visit.

It has taken us two years to get a pitch on this site, and it was well worth the wait. The site facilities were excellent and site well maintained.
Being within Delamere Forest there is a lot of walking/cycling activities and the highlight of our stay was completing the Go-Ape just 5 minutes from the site. The staff at the Go-Ape were top-notch, friendly and professional - strongly recommend.
There is a train station again 5 minutes from the site with hourly trains between Manchester and Chester - well priced tickets and our first visit to Chester was brilliant.
Site staff were very friendly always making you feel welcome, and the campers were really friendly too, we enjoyed the England v Germany match with a group of campers age ranging 21 to 74 - fabulous night. We will be returning.

Just had 3 nights here. A nice compact site, staff very friendly and all facilities clean and tidy. Be warned though, if you are a light sleeper the noise from the road etc will be a problem. Pitched on the grass, we had loads of room.
Great location for the kids, right in the forest, ideal for Chester etc. We will be going back hopefully this year.

Our second visit to this superb site, and we will be visiting again. We have stopped on both sides of the site and have not been bothered by any noise from trains or traffic.
The facilities are well kept and up to the usual club standard. For dog walking the whole of the Delamere Forest is available from the site without having to walk along any roads. Beware pools in the woods that are covered in duckweed if your dog has not seen it before, our dog thought it was solid only to find five feet of water underneath.
The 13 mile footpath, the Baker Way, starts from the station alongside the site and ends at Chester station, an interesting and varied walk through woods, fields, quiet lanes and canal towpaths with a convenient 20 min train ride back to the site.
For those wanting to stretch their uphill muscles, Old Pale, the highest hill in Cheshire is nearby and has a surfaced footpath to the summit as well as a more interesting route through woodland.

My wife and I loved this site great staff great for dog walking, some of the pitches were a bit small and tv reception is poor but all in all we loved it.
The mobile pizza van comes on saturday evening and is the best pizza I've ever eaten in the UK bar none and I've eaten a lot of pizzas.
The toilets and showers were spotless it is one of my favourite sites.

Visited for a weekend to combine trip with kids to Chester Zoo and to wander around the forest.
Would agree with the comments of the majority in that it is very clean and well maintained.
Special mention for Steve who was very understanding when we turned up and wished to use an extension which made us slightly too big for a standard pitch (they do not have Jumbo pitches). He happily sorted us out.
For tents it should be borne in mind that the noise from the road and train line is a factor late at night.

Just returned after 3 nights at this gem of a site.
The wardens were very helpful and we was shown to our pitch and he instructed were all the amenities were. The toilet and shower block along with the rest of the camp were immaculately clean and all the pitches were well presented.
The site itself is surrounded by Delamere forest with great walks just across the road.
At the edge of the site this is a short circular walk that's great for taking the dog round and this also serves as a short cut for accessing Go Ape, a tree top adventure that goes around the woods.
Next door and well within walking distance is the visitors centre (leave your car on site and walk parking is costly) again there are good walks that are well marked.
The train station is directly out of the front gate were you can catch the train to Manchester or Chester they run every hour.
There is a shop approximately 1 mile from the camp and the nearest Supermarket is in Frodsham four miles away, there is a pub one mile either way and both do food though we never ate in them both pubs were very friendly.
There are plenty of places to go and see as well as Chester the Anderton Boat lift is only a few miles away.
All in all a great site with plenty of inexpensive things to do, if you like walking and biking this site is for you.
