Thoroughly enjoyed this site. Well-spaced pitches on a good, sheltered field for the tents. It's right on a fairly busy road; but the hedges help cut some of the noise; and in the other direction you walk straight into Delemere Forest itself.

Very clean and well-maintained toilet/shower block, plus washing-up room.

The couple who run the site, apparently very new to the place when we visited, could not have been more pleasant and helpful.

As well as a stroll in the Forest, we enjoyed a visit to nearby Beeston Castle - fabulous views across the Cheshire Plain - and the Old Fire Station chocolate shop/cafe in Tarporley.

A lovely campsite perfectly located for exploring the forest. I took my 4 year old and our dog.

The staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived showing us to our pitch. They put us half way between the dog run and the loos which was great.

The facilities were spotless and the showers lovely and warm. There's a very small shop in the reception which sells essentials and, much to my little boy's delight, ice cream.

The pitch was nice and flat, no stones and the site is very well kept. There isn't a kids play area and no ball games allowed, but given where you are I don't think it needs it.

There's a gate straight on to one of the forest trails from the edge of the site so we spent most of our time exploring there.

The field we were in was quite close to the entrance so you could hear the traffic, but it didn't disturb us and I didn't notice it at night at all.

We'll definitely be going back here.

Site staff brilliant- very helpful in siting our van close to facilities- thanks.

So we were close to road a little noisy

Facilities were all heated, very clean and plenty of hot water for pot wash!

Sited beside Delamere Forrest great for cycling walking or kids with great additional facilities for all sorts

Stayed on this site for 4 nights with my son. It was the first week in September and most schools had gone back so it was fairly quiet. The site is ideally located for walking in the forest or getting a train to Chester (we did both).

As it is a C&CC site the facilities were up to the expected standard. Clean, warm toilet block, never had to wait. Good washing up area with hot water did have to wait but not for long. No play area so not a lot for kids to do and as most in school was a bit quiet for my son. He decided to be gate monitor and opened it for every car that came on site. Thank you to the person who gave him £1 for doing it as it made his day :)

Pitches looked tired and muddy but it was just after the main season so to be expected. The warden told us to pitch right on the edge of the space to get us on grass and not mud which was appreciated. Chip van one night and a portion of chips was huge, would probably feed 3 and we made the mistake of buying 2 portions!

Would go back anytime, loved the site, loved Chester, loved being able to open a gate and walk into the forest. Brill :)

I just cannot believe some of the reviews of this site. It is in a beautiful location on the edge of the forest, handy for trains, pubs, sightseeing etc. And is kept in a lovely condition by the hard-working wardens. We have stayed here many times both in peak and off-peak seasons and have enjoyed every visit. All right, there are no facilities for children but has it never occurred to people to do some research before they book? And there are no more signs on site than there are on a private site; I was actually present when the warden put up the 'do not leave the cubicle unless fully dressed' signs and this was due to a 'gentleman' who seemed to enjoy parading around the shower block naked - not a pretty sight for children's (or adults!) eyes I can assure you.

Just had 2 nights here and it wasn't particularly enjoyable. The site was full, however we were surrounded but tent groups - the pitch beside us had 3 small tents, 3 cars, and a central area where everyone in the group got together for loudest voice competitions. At most they covered a pitch and a half. So despite all the many rules, they don't seem to adhere to some pretty basic ones.

The family room however was LOVELY- which was great news as the toilet block had a number code on it which 2 of my 3 children could never get to work, either because they were physically too small or it was too stiff. The facilities were too small when the site was full - first time I've experienced a queue for the dishwash.

Also, despite the sites many rules regarding all other forms of fun, the place was full of kids on bikes whizzing around everywhere which can not only be disconcerting but with the amount of tent lines etc it's not safe.

Sorry, didn't get any peace and quiet here at all

Our return to camping after years of boating: close to home, beautiful spacious site, wardens spent some time showing us a variety of level pitches. Noticed only a few other tents but an abundant crop of caravans and motor-homes. Ample showers, toilets, wash basins, laundry room, electricity points - just like home! Perhaps just a tad too much like home? No playground, or at least I didn't see one, for children and there were notices banning ball games. No notices banning notices, though.

Ten minutes walk, turn right out of the gate, to Delamere station, trains to Manchester and Chester, and a small café. Five minutes drive in the opposite direction to Hatchmere and The Carriers, excellent for evening meals at about £12 per main course. Some very good fish dishes.

Usual CC&C efficiency which verges on the regimented at times - a new one to add to the list of 'Don't' signs (seen in gents' shower block) 'Please do not leave this cubicle unless you are fully clothed to avoid offending other guests and children'!

The site was vey well placed for the forest and the Go Ape adventure park and quite a pleasant walk with the dog.

We stopped here for 2 nights as it was convenient for us and our itinerary - not sure that we would particularly stop here again, but can see that it would have it's appeal for location.

We booked for 2 nights and were looking forward to a relaxing stay near a country setting. Having been asked if we had a preference for pitches, we said something with more grass for our dogs, and were shown what seemed an appropriate pitch, next to a small clump of trees. However, as the site filled up, this attracted a number of children who were playing with sticks and trying to climb the trees, very close to our car. It was only later when we walked the site that we realised there was no play area. Perhaps this also explained why other older children (young teens) were racing round the site on bikes, ignoring the speed limit and one way system, and performing skids on the gravel, until well after 10pm. All of this disturbed our dogs and we are always mindful of keeping them quiet so as not to disturb others, but this is made difficult and stressful if parents don't also keep an eye on their children. We decided to leave after one night to avoid a repeat of the same, and it was disappointing that the warden on our departure not only didn't ask if our stay had been pleasant, neither did she ask why we were cutting our stay short. Sorry to say, this was not relaxing for us, though it probably is for the parents who let their children go unsupervised in the absence of a formal play area, and we are not likely to return.

Stayed 2 nights in March in awful weather. Very heavy rain.

Very friendly and helpful staff who helped us with one or two setting up issues, as we were very new indeed to caravanning (try, first time out!)

Good sized pitches on an open site.

No play area for kids which was a pity, though there were central grassy areas for tents which weren't being used which could run about on.

Very close to forest.

Toilet and shower areas were spotless and impressive.

Will probably go back now we know what we are doing and when the weather is a little better.

Thank you to some of the other caravanners on site, who took the initiative to volunteer help with our attempts at putting up awning for the first time. Your tuition means it now seems easy!
