Very nice site and in a great location. The railway station to Chester or Manchester was about 50 yards away (didn't hear any noise though). The forest had quite a number of marked walk / run / cycle paths. Surprised it didn't have a little more for families really.

The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy. Also located next to the reception so it might be a little trek for some but fresh air and exercise never killed anyone.

Those looking after the site were helpful and friendly but weren't exactly overly keen when we enquired about checking in early (despite it being the 3rd weekend in September so not exactly busy).

So would happily revisit and recommend to others.

What fab location sort of. Adjacent to the forest which has miles of walks, cycle tracks Go Ape and much more. If you have dogs it is heaven. Staff as usual with this club really friendly. Facilities are ok but very clean. Downside well it is next to a very busy straight road which seems to be a challenge for every motorbike in Cheshire to go faster than the previous one. Also it is next to the train line and station which again you will hear although not many trains. So absolutely fab forest on two sides and noisy train line and road on the others. You decide. Nothing close by so as we do not drive out in the motorhome once we have parked at a site make sure you take everything with you. We would return for forest walks. Oh yes you must try Hollies farm which is about 4 miles away and has a superb farm shop and cafe - would drive to Cheshire to visit this place anytime

Hi all. After deliberating as to book this site in spite of me personally thinking £17.00 a night for a solo camper, a small tent and no ehu was a bit steep, I went ahead and decided to try it out. Well. I still think its way to dear. For instance a lad next to me and his young son were charged £25.00 a night for a small tent and no ehu. We were on field right opposite the site office and the way in and out for motorhomes and caravans plus we were near the main road although not too busy you could hear every car and motorbike or wagon passing by. In hindsight for what I paid I should have asked to be moved into the main field it may have been a bit quieter. Also if your thinking of taking a gazebo. Stand alone shelter. Cooking area. Forget it as they are frowned upon. For the size of pitch. A corner of a field I squeezed into I think that for the silly money I should be allowed to put up a gazebo etc. On my way there I bought a small tarp from decathlon. I was allowed to put it up. But on condition it went partly over my tent only and not away from it. Would I go again. Yes. But only if I had to meet up with friends and the pricing policy was looked into. Now the positives. Helpful male and female wardens. Clean toilet/shower block, , friendly caravanners and campers. The negatives. Too dear. Near busy (ish main road).

Usual friendly greeting from the wardens that you get from a camping and Caravanning Club Site. That was the first and last time we saw them.

It’s location in the forest is pretty and the lake is a beneficial walk. As the site is C&C Club spotless toilet facilities, flat and well groomed pitches have become the norm and this applies to this site. There is not a lot pubs or shops within a mile so go prepared with your eggs bacon sausages and wine/beer IE. essentials.

This site is next tio the railway station with direct access to Chester and Manchester. Trains run every half hour and return to Chester was about £4.00. Chester was a great couple of days out. Open bus tour very good for history well told with humour ten out of ten. The train noise did not worry us at all in fact did not notice it. Overall a very good stay for three nights and if we were going to this area we would certainly stay here.

Visited for bank holiday weekend, wouldn't normally have used camping and caravan (we tend to prefer something with fewer satellite dishes) but it was all that was available in the right location.

It is a beautiful location, the forest is pretty and the lake is a worthwhile walk. The site itself is standard c&c - clean, safe and secure, short grass and level pitches are guaranteed.

Facilities are clean and reasonably abundant, there isn't a lot by the way of pubs or shops within a mile or so and the site shop was a bit sparse. The chip van that visits on a Friday was just ok.

What was really interesting was the enthusiastic application of the large number of site rules by the staff. On arrival we were escorted to our pitch by two staff who gave us a precise location, which we did our best to adhere to. We were visited during pitching to see how we were getting on - and were advised that we were half a metre too close to our neighbours but that they would 'let it go this time'.

On our second night, we were visited by an 8 month pregnant family member who, understandably, wanted to park near our tent to join us for a bbq. She had been on site less than 30 seconds when a staff member appeared, like mr Ben´s shopkeeper to advise us that she could not park on site. Anywhere. So we had to move the car to an off site, public car park, at night. Not an unreasonable request I know, but they could have been a but more accommodating especially given the circumstances.

The site overall is not unpleasant, but the over application of rules could easily make it so. For us, the ambience is not improved by signs reminding campers of the rules (and sinisterly autographed HSM, like some Orwellian leisure organiser) on every surface.

Of course the best kind of fun is safe fun, but at Delamere they have gone little too far.

Not the first time to this site but the first review. A Camping & Caravanning Club site located in the heart of Delamere Forest. Although the site is located next to the Manchester / Chester railway line, don’t let this put you off visiting this site; trains are infrequent and noise is not an issue.

What to expect when you arrive. ? Basically what you’d expect from most other club sites – the site has all the usual facilities: toilet / shower block, washing up & laundry facilities, chemical disposal and drive over motor home waste disposal, all maintained to a high standard by the friendly wardens who can’t seem to do enough. There is no children’s play area on site or dog walk but due to the proximity of the forest (you’re in the middle of it), these are not needed.

Pitches are a mixture of grass or hand-standing with electric hook-up with an area in the middle for tents. If I had to make any criticism at all, the showers block could do with being bigger but having said that, it didn’t cause me a problem during our stay. As a side issue, a mobile fish ‘n’ chip van visits on a Friday night (saves cooking).

Within the forest itself, there are miles of tracks for exploring both on foot and by bike or you could always catch a train to visit further afield. There is also a high rope activity course located within walking distance from the site and a cafe located next to the train station and also one at the nearby visitors centre.

Final comment – can’t wait to be go back. !

As already said great site clean and on the forest doorstep. Great for walkers and cyclists.

Yes showers need to be pressed very often but clean and hot.

The only negative and this is not the sites fault is that it is situated next to an unlit busy fast road! In the summer it would not be so bad to walk to the pub down the road or the Chinese but in the winter when its dark at 4 its very dangerous. We went to Chester on the train £8. 40 return for two adults, trains run every hour, this was good value and an excellent day out a must if you have never been. However when you arrived back at 6. 00pm in total darkness you still have a short walk of about 75 mtrs along this dangerous road to the site entrance and you WILL need a torch !

This is the only downside to this site but we will be returning again very soon.

We had a short four night stay here at the end of October, but will try to return again soon as we loved the site and the location.

Really clean well tended site with friendly and helpful staff. Good showers with plenty of hot water and a squeegee plus mop and bucket, unfortunately these seemed too technical for some members judging by the number of people who walked away without cleaning the floor after their shower.

Great location for exploring the forest on foot or on a bike, or you can catch a train into Chester and explore the city.

If you fancy eating out there's a Chinese restaurant a couple of mins up the road, we had good food in nice surroundings, or you can ring up and collect a carry out. There is also a pub which does food a little further up, but we didn't try it so cannot comment.

The station cafe is well worth a visit, nice food at a reasonable price and it is much friendlier than the cafe in the forest.

You can have an active break or a relaxing one at this site, the pace is up to you, but it is well worth a visit.

Pleasant site with well maintained facilities. I would echo the comments about the timing of the shower push buttons, you almost have to keep your hand on all the time.

Large site with plenty of sizeable hard standings. Although quiet when we arrived, it filled up for the weekend, even in the low season.

Excellent Chinese restaurant not far from site and useful village shop in the other direction. Site is also visited by a fish n chip van and a Mobile Pizza van on regular nights.

The site is located within the forest and all the pitches are in a clear area allowing plenty of light throughout the day. The facilities and grounds are well maintained and in excellent condition.

The site is ideally located to travel to Chester, Liverpool or Manchester as the railway station is just outside the site if you do not want to drive. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pressure switches for the showers require setting as a single press lasted approximately 5 seconds.

The forest provides opportunities to cycle, walk or take part on the Go Ape high ropes course. For people who enjoy walking longer distances it is possible to walk to Chester from the site on a marked footpath called Bakers Way, this follows forest tracks, roads, crosses farmers fields and then follows the canal into Chester.
