I have just returned from a weekend at Delamere. Good clean facilities suited to the size of the camp so no queueing! We sampled the delights of the fish and chip van and the pizza van (on consecutive nights of course)! Great if you don't fancy cooking but rather pricey, particularly the pizzas!very tasty though!
The camp was rather noisy this weekend with children shouting and screaming from about 6am! We have visited the site before and it was fairly peaceful so this would not put us off.
Great proximity to the forest, couldn't get much closer! Also the railway station is next door with trains running to Chester and Manchester.
It looked as if there were plenty of nice pubs in the vicinity although we have not sampled them yet! Maybe we will on our next visit to Delamere! Looking forward to visiting this site again!

A lovely site set in a wooded area with a nice feel to it but the tv reception is very poor, probably due to the trees. There's some good woodland walks direct from the site but alas no pubs within stumbling distance.
There's a village shop about a mile away. A 5 minute walk from the site is the train station from where you can catch a train into Chester for £4 return, good value.
Chester's got great shops, pubs and of course its tudor style buildings, fantastic.
The park has far too many grey squirrels for my liking, being from Cumbria I'm more of a reds man myself.
Discovery caravan centre just over a mile away for all your bits n pieces.

Very warm welcome by the staff, who showed us to our pitch and helped with the reversing of the caravan.
We parked next to the railway line which didn't bother us, only two trains and hour and they stopped through the night. The road at the entrance to the site seemed much noisier.
The toilet blocks are very clean and have a code to enter them. The lock is quite high, so young children or those that are short are unable to go to the toilet on their own! The showers are not on long enough and you are constantly pressing the button.
The site does not allow ball games but the children were more than happy with the woodland that this site is situated next to. Be warned that they come back very dirty from the black peaty bogs. And the dogs are equally dirty.
The site has a fish and chip van twice a week, and fantastic pizza van, which has its own clay oven inside on a Saturday and also a pre ordered pie deliver service on a Wednesday. The village shop is one mile away and caters for all your needs.
We had a great time at this quiet site, with lots of walking and cycling and only used the car to visit Chester.

First time to this site and our first outing with a trailer tent. We were welcomed onto the site and shown directly to our pitch which was ample sized to fit our trailer tent and our sons pop-up tent.
Good basic facilities available on site and a small shop.
The toilet and shower block are well maintained along with the washing up area.
No play area was a bit of a down side but we were there with friends so our children played together without issue.
A fish n' chip van visits this site on a Friday evening so it's worth enquiring before arrival what time he's there if you're not fancying cooking on your arrivals day. There's a Chinese restaurant and a pub just up the road and both do food and drinks.
Good travel links as the railway station is only a short walk down the road and will quickly have you in the middle of Chester without the hassle of parking.

This site is 12 miles east of Chester by road; if you want to visit Chester, I suggest either using the park-and-ride, if you want to drive, or a train from the station close to the site.
The site itself abuts a road which is not especially busy but can be noisy if you are close to it. There is the usual mix of grass and hard standings.
Not having been to the site before, we had booked a hard standing as the 'safe' option in case the weather was wet - we like grass, but if it's wet some sites can be messy. This turned out to be a bad move. The pitch we had, and several other hard standings, do not drain well and in fact we had a 'run off' through our awning after a prolonged heavy shower and the pitch never dried out after that - we had to take the awning down early. The pitch became somewhat muddy as well, so if you do go for a hard standing choose your pitch carefully if you are given the opportunity.
The wardens were very friendly and helpful. They constantly mopped the floor in the facilities, without which they would have become quite muddy in the wet conditions - all credit to them. In fact I cleaned it myself on a couple of occasions too. The facilities themselves were adequate and in good condition (the site is only four years old) but I do not like the push button showers - especially when the 'push' only last for 7 seconds! There are laundry facilities, but no playground - children on bikes were a hazard at times.
Given that it is a newish C&CC site, we weren't bowled over with it. Our visit was spoiled by the unserviceable pitch and the 'flood'.
We tried a nearby pub, the Red Bull at Kingsley - the local CAMRA pub of the year in 2010. It's a friendly pub with good beer, and the fish and chips were excellent in quality and quantity.
If you like visiting National Trust properties, one of our favourites is at hand - Little Moreton Hall near Congleton, a Tudor house as near unchanged for 400 years as can be found anywhere. There's also Dunham Massey, a palatial Capability Brown job, and Tatton Park nearby - if you only visit one, make it Little Moreton.
Chester itself is a 'black and white' town with many old and more or less picturesque buildings, but we didn't find too much of interest on our brief visit after we had walked all the way around the walls (allow an hour or so). Had we had longer we might have sought out a museum, or visited the cathedral.
The point of the location in a way is Delamere Forest itself. We weren't there long enough to explore it unfortunately. The site is perfectly located for it, and provided you get a decent pitch (or dry weather) it's OK. If you want to be at this location, give it a try - otherwise, the C&CC has better sites in our opinion.

I stayed here one night after Cycling across the Cheshire Cycleways. On arrival I found the staff very friendly and helpful. As I was In a one man Tent ( Classed as a Backpacker. ) I was given a pitch facing the office and entrance. On a small triangular grassed area.
The Facilities are kept spotlessly clean. The Showers ( Need a longer Timer for water Flow ), washroom toilets. Lovely decor. In the same block is a laundry and washing up area with adequate sinks.
Also there Is an Information hut, with plenty of leaflets, In the wardens office there is food, & commodities sold as well. The Site Is lovely and clean and well laid out.
Surrounded by trees and paths leading to the Forest walks. The road noise Is tolerable and not much noise from the Main railway track.
The Staff on site work very hard to achieve a very high standard. And are very accommodating and attentive ( They are a credit to The CC)
The Campsite Is Set in a beautiful area. And has a lot of places to visit nearby. ' I would Highly Recommend '.

Very well laid out site with large pitches, modern shower block and w/c's, all very clean. Poor tv signal if you're down near the exit next to the woods, no road noise down there, great walks with the dog in the woods. Didn't like the hardstanding as when wet it was very was dirty, unlike the washed gravel on some other sites. Friendly staff, can get very busy, didn't eat out so unable to review pubs. Motorhome service area. Only negative comment is, lots of unsupervised children of all ages using site roads as a race track, no fault of the site staff.

Our first visit to this site and our first to a C&CC site.
The site was very good and level. Toilets blocks were clean and very nice. Showers as previously mentioned by others are of the push button type and could do with a bit longer for each push. Plenty of hot water.
The warden was very helpful and always smiling.
Great access to Delamere Forest from the edge of the site.
The site is next to a main road and seemed noisy at first but soon forgot about it. Same with the trains which never bothered us at all(About one every half hour or so).
What I didn't like was that our trailer tent had to be inch perfect on the plot and our friends in a neighbouring plot were requested to move thier tent by about two feet as it was out of place.
We were not allowed to burn logs in the BBQ. There is no children's play area. You are not allowed to play ball games, frisbees, kites or model airplanes ('expensive caravans and motorhomes around').

We had a lovely time here and the weather was good. Our pitch was large and sunny although we were close to the railway station it did not bother us to much.
There was some road noise and also planes overhead. Great for going to Chester on train.
Toilets and showers were clean and tidy. Pub was not to far away and meal was good but not cheap.
The site does have recycling bins but were overflowing. Tv reception was good we got all the digi channels.
This site is very popular so book in advance.

This is a nice site, with clean shower/toilet block sited next to the office.
There was some road noise, but this was not a bother once tucked up in sleeping bag!
Great walks from the site, miles and miles of forest tracks.
Or if you don't want to walk, take the train at the station next door!
A walk along the Sandstone trail is a must. You come to a village where there is a lovely pub called The Boot Inn.
Shop at end of road, sells essentials. Fresh fruit and veg etc and hot pies! Chip van £2.10 chips.
Next to the site is a lake where birds were nesting and at dusk squawking for all they were worth- an amazing sight and sound!
The station next to site has a cafe and also sells lovely ice-creams, refreshing after a walk up to Old Pale and back.
We drove to Chester, about 9 miles away and then on to Talacre beach in Wales. A fantastic day out
