Full marks for cleanliness of toilet block. Reception staff were always helpful.

Site location next to the railway station is a huge advantage. We had a very relaxed rail trip to Chester, just two stops down the line. It avoided all the bother of driving, hunting for a parking space and going three times round the bypass.

Chester is full of interest, whether you go for the Roman amphitheatre or the shops. Trains go to Manchester in the opposite direction. We'll try that next time. It could be a good place for camping entirely by public transport.

Camping club sites tend to be very well run and well organised and this one is no exception.

Ideally situated right next to Delamere station, on the line between Chester and Manchester, its a great location right in the middle of Delamere Forest.

There is a really good little local shop a mile away with all the basics and a few other good things such as fresh croissants early am. There are two cafes nearby at the station and the forest visitor centre, and in Hatchmere there is the very good Carriers Inn. Good beer and great food which is about a mile so walkable.

Delamere Forest is of course the other great attraction for bikes rides and walks and the site is right in the middle of that.

As for the site, hot clean showers, very basic shop, dishwashing area etc, its all there. No kids play area, but this site is small and there are lots of places to play and ride right next to the site, with even a Go Ape 2 mins walk away.

We've been to this site now lots of times and we will be going again!

Stopped off here for a couple of nights after our main summer holiday stay in Cornwall. Site is very handy for the train station and we took the train into Chester for the day. Nearest decent sized supermarket/shop we found was in Shrodsham (once in town turn right immediately after going under the railway bridge) about 4/5 miles away.

We were on a hard-standing pitch on the site, which was huge. Easily enough room for the caravan, awning (we didn't put ours up due to the short stay) and car side by side. Site is right beside the woods, with gates into it, which was great for walks with the dog. A bit muddy in places though due to the wet 'summer' weather. The welcome was good, with one of the wardens on his bike guiding us to, and onto, the pitch.

The other facilities are pretty standard. The toilet block is good, as long as you can wash with one hand as the push-button showers last 10 microseconds before needing pushed again! Maybe an exaggeration, but there was no way our youngest son was going to manage to shower himself so I'd to try to hold the button for him without getting soaked myself. Pity though as the water flow was strong and warm when it was flowing. There must be a market for a device to hold these type of button showers on! Some type of clamp or strap.

Overall a good site I'd liked to have stayed at longer if we'd had the time.

Just got back after a weekend break at this site. My husband and myself are new to touring with caravan and this was only our second time out. I chose this site based on the reviews I read.

We have a small dog and took her with us, the forest was ideal for her to roam about it. There were lots of other people with dogs and they were all well controlled.

On arrival the staff at reception were very helpful, explained everything we needed to know. We are not club members and we didn't feel un-welcomed at all. We were taken to our pitch by a staff member and again the hook up and facilities were explained.

The toilet/shower block is at the reception area as are the laundry room and dish washing facilities. All of these were very clean. The only 'problem' as such with the facilities is that they are not central to the whole site, if you are based at the bottom of the camp it is a bit of a walk up to use the facilities.

We were at the bottom of the site, right on the edge of a wooded area - ideal with the dog! The size of the pitches were great, we had the the caravan, awning and car side by side, and there was still space between us and the next caravan, we didn't feel crammed in at all.

There isnt a shop on site, although I noticed in reception there was a fridge stocked with milk, pop and some other very basic provisions. There is a very well stocked shop about a mile down the road, on leaving the site turn right and it is straight down the road. It is a bit on the expensive side so I would recommend you take all the food and drink you will need for your stay. On a Friday evening there was a fish and chip van which visited the site and on the Saturday evening there was a van selling pizzas. We didn't buy from these but they were very popular.

No ball games were allowed on site and there is no play area for children. The children were playing in the road way on their bikes or scooters. Yes, the forest is on the 'doorstep' but if you have young children I think a play area would be ideal. I noticed the type of families this site attracts are families who enjoy cycling as most had cycles with them. If you have young children who need supervising and are planning on just going for an occasional walk in the woods I think the children would get a bit bored as there are no facilities for them, no park, no play-area etc.

It is an ideal site for families who enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, cycling. Or for people who want a nice quiet retreat to get away from the hussle and bustle.

There is a train station right next to the camp and the site is on a main road, the cars do travel at some speed on the road. There are also planes which fly over quite low, the flight path to Liverpool airport. The noise from all of these can be heard but to be honest it didn't bother us at all, the noise from the traffic was not a nuisance as I had read from other reviews.

There is a site wi-fi for internet connection, you have to pay for this, can pay daily or weekly. I managed to get my phone to connect to the internet off 3G but it was very slow and I couldn't get full coverage.

If you are looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend away I would thoroughly recommend this site. We totally re-charged our batteries, had a lovely relaxing weekend and nice walks in the forest.

Usual CC&C club facilities. The key code toilet makes life a bit interesting but the facilities are spotless. The staff are very nice and friendly and always wandering around and saying hello. The pitches are a bit soulless, but the North side of the site has paths that lead directly into Delamere forest walks.

I admit I chose this site specifically so my Manchester friends could come and see my 'van. In this respect, this site is brilliant - an easy half hour journey by train into Manchester, a train every hour and the station literally a 5 minute walk from the site. You have to be a bit more energetic if you want a drink though - 20 mins at a brisk pace to the nearest though its beer is good and it does food as well.

The forest walks are very nice. Broad easy paths you can take a stroller down. A very silly amount of gulls in the lake.

Easy to find, easy to get set up, will stay again.

Lovely warm welcome from site managers who showed us to pitch and explained everything, just as you expect from a club site. Super location with the forest and Go Ape next to the site. Great for walking, biking and enjoying the forest.

Loos and showers spotless at all times. Key code entry to the facilities, which was awkward especially if you have a teenager who keeps forgetting the code!

There is no play area or field for games, but with a huge forest on your doorstep there enough to find to do.

Delamere train station runs along the back of the site which is handy for trains to Chester, but if your pitched at the bottom of the site you can hear the trains which run about every hour.

The road past the sight is a busy and very fast road, and road noise can be heard.

We booked hardstanding, and felt the pitch was more hardcore than gravel, however the size of the pitch was great and well spaced.

We arrived just after 7 on the Friday night and the warden was very friendly, explained where everything was located and then took us to our pitch.

The pitch was grass, flat and spacious with a hook up point shared with the pitch next door and next to one of the forest entrance gates, making it ideal for walking the dog.

Toilets were always very clean and the wardens always friendly and willing to help. The dishwashing area was clean and tidy and plenty of sinks. When we stayed the site was full but we never had to queue for anything and the site felt peaceful and well managed.

The information hut behind the toilet block was always open and had full details of all the local attractions, shops and pubs with lots of menus for all the different places to eat.

A lovely site that we will definitely return too.

The wardens at this site were really friendly and accommodating. Our motorhome is quite long and they ensured we had a pitch long enough. A really pretty site surrounded by woodland and I'm sure on a less rainy day - it was almost horizontal - we may have taken advantage of all the local walking. We only stayed the one night but we were made to feel very welcome and to make as much use of the facilities as we liked. Helpfully there is a small shop to get some basics like bread & milk as well.

We would recommend this site and would definitely stay here again when in the area. There was a train running back and forth but not too intrusive at the far end of the site where we stayed, but it didn't disturb us at all.

A very well maintained and managed site.

The camp was very easy to find, but they weren't very happy that 5 tourers had arrived before 12 noon even though it was 11.55am and mentioned bringing back the early arrival charge, but that apart they turned out to be very helpful, our gas, electric or water was a bit of a problem and they helped us to get them all working and position the van correctly as this was our first time in a caravan.

The noise from the road was constant during the day, but did go quiet as the day went along, the trains could be heard through the night.

Not too sure what's on offer for children apart from the woods so cant comment on that. Didn't visit the showers because we have our own.

The dog walk into the woods was ideal for quiet walks and wide open space, squirrels, cuckoo and owls (at night) and different birds in abundance too.

We went to the Anderton boat lift, but found this to be very expensive so called at the Book store not too far away and bought a couple of books at reasonable prices.

I will be coming again in the not to distant future. We really loved the relative peace (in the evenings)

Nice little site in the centre of Delamere Forest. It has the usual C&CC facilities including toilet/showers, dishwashing, motorhome service point etc. Codes for entrance and toilets. Think about what pitch you want, those closest to the toilets are also closest to the road.

There are gates for walkers and cyclists from the site directly in to the forest. Alternatively you can walk or cycle out the main entrance past the lovely little railway station to the Delamere visitor centre.

Discover Leisure did have a big caravan and motorhome center nearby, but they went bust last month.
