Well what can we say! another wet but peaceful 4 days, we have made many visits to this site, over the last few years. The owners can't do enough for you. The site has come on leaps and bounds, a credit to Chris & Wendy. Free hot showers, heated by solar panels, toilets always clean, flushed by water from there own well.
The kitchen with its double sink and drainer's is more than adequate for washing up those dirty dishes, there is a chest freezer and a fridge situated in the information room, plus a double power point should anything need charging up.
The recycling area is well organized. For people that like back good honest camping. This is a little piece of heaven, The village itself is idyllic, real ale pubs, co-op but a bigger supermarket(Harry Tuffins)at Churchstoke
We love the place, for £6 per person per night, its fantastic value for money, we look forward to our next visit.

Stayed here for one night. Allowed to chose own pitch - basically choice of 3 fields with panoramic views.
We were alone on the field apart from a tent the otherside of the field. So able to let the dogs off to play ball for a bit. Had a BBQ - they have free blocks / slabs to used to put bbqs on to protect the grass - handy.
The shower block was basic - 3 showers. And push control - my husband counted and it lasted for 20 seconds. There is an eco feel to this site, recycling is encouraged.
Short walk to Bishops Castle - a nice village on a hill, up hill walk back to camp. Lots of pubs - OH was very happy as they were in the 'Good beer guide'. Lots of nice other shops.
My dogs loved this site and it was very quiet - just what we wanted. Good value in reflection of the price.

We have just returned from this lovely camp site and are planning to return soon. The site is friendly and welcoming with a really lovely atmosphere especially in the evening with campfires.
The shower block and wetrooms are fine, although the floors could do with a more regular wash down as they tend to get a bit muddy, but that's a small issue. The town of Bishops Castle is a short delightful walk through fields with quaint little shops and pubs serving top ale's. The fish and chip shop is a must.
The camp site owners are lovely and they encourage recycling on the site which is great!
The views are spectacular!
We will be back!

Wonderful. Cracking location, beautiful views, lovely owners, all around top scores. Only very, very minor quibble was that the dish washing facilities could have a roof on them, but other than that wouldn't want to improve it one bit.
We were pitched on the top of the hill with huge panoramas (when the rain came at night you felt the exposure) and had one of those wonderful 'open the tent flaps' moments each morning as the Shropshire Hills greeted you.
Went weekend of the Bishops Castle Beer festival and had no noise or rowdiness and two excellent nights sleep. Lovely walk down the hill into town too with takeaways and pubs (and lots of real ale at the festival). Great value too.

We have just spent a glorious weekend at Foxholes and strongly recommend it.
The showers and toilets are clean and the water was hot at all times. They also have 3 wetrooms which are particularly good for families or the less able bodied.
There is a communal fridge & freezer in the kitchen at no extra charge and the owners are happy to advise on the local area.
The only draw back is that there is no shop on site so you need to walk down the hill to Bishop's Castle town centre and then back again which is quite steep.
At £6 pppn this campsite is very reasonable and I would certainly recommend it.
The views and the surrounding area is breath taking!
Who could ask for more.

We were not disappointed. The site is very good. The toilet/shower block has 3 wcs and 3 large shower cubicles, 2 urinals and 3 wash hand basins on the Gents.4 showers 3 WCs, 3 WHBs on the ladies side.
The showers are free push button type with plenty of hot water. The block is clean, well maintained using solar heating and recycled water / rainwater for flushing the WC so good environmental awareness.
My only criticism is the lack of hooks in the WC/shower block so take your own suction hook. The Owner of the site was always busy doing things around the site but had time to chat and answer our questions regarding facilities for our disabled friend who is thinking of visiting. His response was to welcome them, just phone him and see what you need.
There are 3 large wet rooms, 1 with easy wheelchair access a 1/2 acre field close by and a local Ring and Ride service if needed.
There are several different fields to camp in.The large tent field is gently sloping being on the hilltop but level pitches are easy to find. The views from this field are amazing-the Shropshire countryside at its best. A fantastic area for walking, The Stiperstones are good and the homemade cakes at The Bog Visitor centre are second to none.
Bishops Castle is 10 minute walk through fields along the Shropshire Way. Lots of good places to eat and drink. The Castle Hotel has good food and the 3 Tuns Pub brews its own beer - well regarded by many it claims to be the oldest pub brewery in England. The Co-op is open late if you need supplies. Bishops Castle is pretty town but a bit hilly.

Foxholes is a beautifully located camp-site within walking distance of Bishops castle, a lovely village, with one of the best gastro- brewery pubs in the country - The Three Tuns. The campsite is on a hill overlooking all the other rolling hills in the vicinity - it is spectacular (though can get a bit windy.) The facilities are very good, with an emphasis on recycling.
However in a two day stay, we were told off twice - for possibly singeing the grass with our BBQ (we hadn't it was on stilts), and for not checking in with her (we had already checked in with her husband who was very friendly.) We even overheard another camper saying they had been told off by her for not recycling properly! Perhaps she was having a bad week!
A bit more of a friendly manner maybe helpful in dealing with us campers (we are customers after all) - to what is really an excellent campsite in the main

On our drive towards the campsite we watched an amazing storm brewing over the Shropshire hills and just as we'd checked in and started to pitch it hit us - leaving us abandoning our tent pegged out and sheltering in the car for half an hour! However, after a short wait we were able to get pitched and get on with our bank holiday break.
The site was busy as would be expected of a bank holiday weekend. Most of the sheltered and flat(ish) pitches had gone by the time we got there late afternoon on the Friday but we found a suitable patch of grass and staked our claim.
Nearly all of the tents seemed to be sent to the top field which was on a hill (amazing views and superb kite flying though) and it was a bit of a free-for-all. Proper camping!
The staff were very friendly and the owner regularly walked about the site to ensure all was well. The site dog was a huge hit with our 1 year old daughter.
The facilities block was extremely clean and although we had to wait a few times for loo's and showers, it was never for that long and you expect it on small sites on busy weekends. The pot wash area was outside but as I said, this is proper camping!
There is a short cross country walk into Bishops Castle which is worth a visit for it's eclectic shops and several pubs (2 brewery pubs!).
As this site is so close to our home we will definitely consider it again for a last minute escape.
This is back to grass roots camping and if you like that, you will like this site.

Went to this site last year and it was good this year its even better with a new toilet/shower block. Fields are a bit sloping but you can find a good spot. We went to the michaelmas fair in bishops castle just a short walk away what a fantastic weekend will be back next year as well. Only complaint was entrance road to site we could see it was a work in progress but it needs doing soon.

We really liked this site - nice friendly owners, stunning views. A relaxed, country site. Not much more than open space and grass for the kids, but ours were happy just playing, as were most other children, say 0-11 yrs. Older than that, this is probably not the site for them.
Showers and toilets - new, nice and clean and free, - solar powered. Plenty of paper in loos. Small kitchen for dishwashing, has campers' fridge and freezer. Good, well-labelled recycling area.
Best of all - a really quiet site - the busiest night was Friday but all was silent by 10.30 - 11pm.
There are a few walks out to the surrounding area from the site - one is down into Bishops Castle, a small, very pretty, villagey-type place. It has a Co-Op for proper shopping and a couple of banks, along with a Post Office, but it has some lovely 'individual' shops - bookshops and vintage clothes shops. Also a nice 'gourmet' type shop selling artisan breads, quiches and the best local cheeses - well worth a visit.
The other paths seem to just lead to narrow paths through crop fields - all steeply downhill. An energetic dog is helpful in getting back to the site.
Nevertheless, my children, 6 and 8, cried when it was time to go home, and have made us promise that we will come back soon. Nuff said.
