Great site, situated off road. No dislikes.

One of the nice things with this campsite, there is a few minutes walk off road to Bishop castle, which makes it very pleasant. Very good eco amenities.

Easy access to pubs and shops.

A bugger to find a get up to but overall a very nice site.

The lady that runs it was. Not very helpful but I'm kind enough to hope she was just having one of those days.

Would visit again.

My first solo camp, so I wanted somewhere that I felt safe. This site is quiet and over several fields, so I had lots of choice, as I was a midweek visitor. I picked a sloping field that had good flat areas. I pitched on the edge, overlooking the lovely view. It was very quiet, with only a couple of other units joining me over the 3 days.

There was a gap in the hedge leading to the facilities block, which were very good, if a little chilly as the weather was cooling.

The site is good at offering recycling and being eco friendly. The common room was a god send, it has sofas to relax in, books to read and maps to view, and a good sized fridge too. It was also nice and warm. The electric sockets were useful to dry my hair, as I was non EHU.

There are great walks close by and the little town, Bishops castle, is nice. Useful for shopping and evening pub meals.

A nice site, I’d visit again.

Foxholes is a really lovely site. There are load of pitches available, spread over a number of fields, so there's plenty of choice to suit everyone.

We stayed in the top field, which had stunning views over the Shropshire Hills.

The facilities are excellent, well laid out and thoughtfully provided. There's a snug campers lounge, with sofas, a fridge and freezer, games for children and loads of info on the local area. The showers and toilets are spacious and very clean, and the bin/ recycling area is in a spot surrounded by trees and shrubs.

The site is very well situated for visiting Bishops Castle. There is a well signposted footpath that drops gently downhill into the pretty town, where there are plenty of shops, pubs and eateries.

Overall we were extremely comfortable at Foxholes Campsite. Our only disappointment was that we were only staying for one night, as we would have loved to have stayed for longer. We will certainly return!

 Awesome weekend!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was (again) fabulous.

With the addition of the food trailer to help with the early morning grumbling tummies, it was even better this year. General breakfast fodder with vegetarian options were welcome even in the searing heat.

Everyone respects the site by recycling, not wasting water and being aware of others on the site. It promotes the ethos of the place which has solar panels, areas for wildlife (including cheeky sparrows that eat crumbs from your table), rainwater harvesting and use of the toilet waste as compost (not as yucky as it sounds!). We were lucky enough to see a kite (real bird not toy) just above us and thousands of stars at night (if you live anywhere where there is light pollution you'll know why this is so special).

Despite the heat, everyone was good natured, didn't waste water and didn't camp too close to each other. There was a lot of space even though it was fully booked.

The walk in to town through the fields is not suitable for everybody, although a mother with a child in a pushchair managed it!

I have to wholeheartedly recommend this site to those of you who want a place that cares about wildlife, recycling and having a relaxing break.

The first thing to consider when visiting this site is that there is no electricity. However as we had a solar panel this was not a problem. The site is situated in a magnificent situation on top of a hill giving great views all round.

There are no marked pitches so you can go almost anywhere you want, the only rule being that you must keep a certain distance from you neighbours. The site is so big this did not pose any problem. The area is made up of several fields so there is no hard standing. It does slope so blocks were needed for our van. But again no problem.

There is a small but good toilet block which was always clean and a facility for charging phones, I pads etc. Contrary to other posts the owners were very pleasant. There is an air of informality about this site so our dog could get out but under strict control. There was a reasonable path for dog walking with access from the site. The access road was easy and presented no problems. In all a very enjoyable stay.

Excellent site, fantastic views especially in the morning, the stars on a clear night are amazing and the facilities are very clean plus it's great value for money.

Visited in a large group, we could easily pitch the tents together and have a focal point around a fire.

Loads of space for the kids to run around playing cricket and football.

This is my second visit and the only negative is the total inflexibility of the lady who runs the site who has caused problems on both occasions when trying to sign in.

Otherwise a great site.

Always an excellent place to stay! Myself and several friends camped together for the Bishop's Castle Ale Trail.

Pros:

Recycling - everything has to be sorted into the correct areas

Wildlife protection - there are areas set aside for the huge variety of birds and animals.

Eco - various eco initiatives such as solar panels make the impact of visitors less than other camp sites.

Views - beautiful hills, misty mornings (if you're awake early enough), lovely sunsets.

Cons: if you have mobility issues it is a walk to Bishop's Castle through woods and a field.

During the ale weekend you can't have a fire - assuming this is for safety so it doesn't bother me. Also, it's usually been warm enough not to want one.

Everyone we met was friendly, polite and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Overall, a fabulous weekend as usual!

May half-term return visit to Foxholes near Bishop's Castle - lovely site with a green eco tinge - lots of recycling and solar generated hot water. Seen on this visit that new large fan heaters have been installed in the toilet / shower blocks - so must be warm in the colder months. Toilets and showers very clean. If you hire a fire drum and get some logs there, remember to bring some kindling and kiln-dried logs with you as the wood they sell doesn't burn that well because it is either just seasoned or unseasoned softwood.

Great site, very large, would suit families and groups of all ages. The top field has almost 360 degree views and is silent and dark at night and would be fab for stargazing. Good facilities for such a reasonable price, eco friendly and fun watching the chickens. Bishop's Castle is an ancient town, interesting but quite steep with narrow streets so a little tricky to approach through the town unless your vehicle is small.
