Had a great time at fox hills, a very picturesque setting amongst the Shropshire hills, Great friendly staff,
Would highly recommend this place.
Another bonus here are the separate areas that have alternatives, there is a converted railway carriage and a three other small cottage like buildings and a large barn that can be hired for functions.
The nearby town of bishops castle is idyllic and has a few shops.
Overall this is a wonderful site.

As camping newbies we now have caught the bug after staying here. The views from the site are stunning and the facilities are kept spotless. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
£18 a night for 2 and a dog is excellent value for money. I can recommend using one of the washing machine drum fire pits !
There is a very pleasant walk across the fields to the town and the Three Tuns.
We will definitely be back

Fabulous site with great views. Rather windy due to its elevated position but plenty of room if you wish to pitch on the lower end of the field. Facilities spotless.
Rather strict with regards visitors. Wished to meet up with old friends for a cuppa outside the van but wasn't allowed. So we had to meet up in the village, about 20 minute pleasant stroll.
That aside would definitely recommend the site.

We stayed for 1 night on the big field straight ahead from the toilet and shower block. At £19 per night with no EHU, it’s probably not the cheapest of sites. (£9 p. P & £1 for our dog).
The field is sloping, but does enjoy far reaching views, especially if you pitch up on the right as you enter. Absolutely loads of space and privacy for our Tuesday night stay. I would assume it gets much busier at weekends. There were a few caravans in a poor state, and looked like they’d been stood, for quite sometime. It didn’t put us off, but it may some.
The toilet and shower block were spotless, and although we didn’t need to use the washing up facilities, they looked very clean too.
The site rightly encourages recycling, and there is a dedicated area for that, right opposite the toilet and shower block. The Elsan emptying point is to the side of the toilet block.
There is a snug/chill out area for campers, complete with a comfy looking settee and a book swap area. Sadly, due to the virus, this area was still closed.
We really enjoyed the off road walk into Bishops castle. The path runs to the rear of the the house, along part of the Shropshire Way, all the way into town. It’s probably under a mile, but it’s off road, so ideal if you’re taking the dog.
We’d definitely return to this site, and we enjoyed the ‘green’ feel to it, as well as the lovely walk into Bishops castle.

Prior to lockdown we had booked for the weekend due to it usually being the ale trail. Luckily they kept my booking as we definitely needed a relaxing time away from home! Unlike some places (namely pubs) the price hadn't increased.
This time we planned to camp up on the top field where we had camped once before, due to the wind our large 6 person tent was flapping like a sail so we gave up and headed to the bottom field that is a bit more private and a lot less windy! Indeed I think it has the best view of the surrounding area which is great if you plan to stay on the campsite. In the evening we were treated to a red kite flying overhead along with lots of other birds. Even later, the car seemed to attract lots of flying bugs that the bats were happily feasting on. I love bats so was happy to be sitting with them flying around me.
It's a short walk into Bishops castle through a couple of fields. On the way it was great to see a little box with a variety of fresh produce for sale, we bought some turnips (yes, real turnips unlike the swedes that some supermarkets seem to think are turnips) and a box of blackcurrants that will hopefully be turned into jam tomorrow. It's not a walk for those with mobility issues but you can go via the road if you are careful. The sheep ignored us this year! My favourite time to go through the crop field is at night when the stars are out but as we didn't stay late in the pub it was still light when we returned. The path is not wide enough for 2 metres passing but there are little cut ins where a family stood on the one journey we took, the rest of the time it was eerily empty.
Other campers comprised of everything from massive families with children and dogs to older couples. Campervans to large luxurious caravans, one man tents to huge tents it was all there. There are different fields for various accommodation types as well as the bunkhouse and lodge type buildings that can be rented.
On site, the owners had definitely taken the coronavirus seriously (unlike some places I've been, including supermarkets). There were hand sanitiser stations in the toilets, which were closed for an hour a day for a deep clean on top of the regular cleaning that goes on anyway. The communal room was closed but there was a power cable for those who wanted to charge devices or use hair straighteners etc. Numbers were limited despite I imagine them being able to fill the place with people wanting a holiday. We even met several people who were new to the place which is not common on the ale trail weekend.
Even though there were limited bookings the site was busy with people but everyone had lots of space between them. If it possible for people to be friendlier than usual then they definitely were this weekend.
The recycling facility was being used effectively. Also the washing up area was never busy, two minutes was the longest I waited.
We brought the food we needed as we didn't know what pubs would be open (The Three Tuns and The castle were serving food but were incredibly busy). In the coolbox we brought everything frozen so when we needed it, it was like coming out of a fridge. Having no electric by the tent is not a problem for us, in fact it's nice not to be reliant on it. Although saying that, I have noticed the 4G is stronger than in previous years.
It was great to be able to hire a fire drum (normally on the ale trail weekend it's not allowed, as you can imagine alcohol and fire is not a good combination). It meant we didn't have to pack the fire pit or logs as we could buy those on site. We did regret not bringing kindling as the wood was not as dry as we were led to believe. It was suggested that we use some paper and card from the recycling which helped a bit but the next day we were able to get some firelighters from the local shop, we don't like using accelerants as at home we use kindling and natural fire starters such as pampus grass.
On the Sunday morning it is compulsory (usually for purposes of curing a hangover) to visit The Greedy Fox, the on site food van. As always, the food was yummy! It's all freshly cooked whilst you wait. This sometimes turns into a social event as you talk to people who are waiting too.
As we were leaving the bottom field we skidded a bit on the grass then as the car moved on to the hard ground I realised we had a totally flat tyre. The owners were kind enough to pump it up for us but it went down a bit, then it seemed to be okay as the valve had been trapped. On the journey home we did stop several times to check it but it stayed up, needless to say, I'm taking it to the garage on Monday.
To sum up:
Eco friendly
Wildlife rich
Beautiful views
Tasty food

Nice views but is on a slope so will need to level.
Toilets are clean & they have a breakfast catering batch bar on site but not sure if its open every day.
Good walks from this site.

Amazing weekend - again!
It's a popular and well known site but it still remains friendly and spacious.
I was happy that the food trailer is thinking about the environment with compostable cutlery and other things. I should have taken my mug to save using a paper one though!
Signs explain that the water that flushes the toilets is rainwater, also the solid waste is used on the fields. There are solar panels too.
Most people were recycling properly but a few seemed to ignore the massive recycling area.
The whole site has different areas for different types of accommodation such as tents, campervans, caravans and the bunkhouse.
I love the place!

Returning every year, it's obvious I love the place! Booking early for certain weekends is definitely advisable.
Most campers are respectful of others as well as the neighbourhood.
Space is never a problem as there are several interconnected fields. There are designated area for touring caravans, campervans, yurts, trailer tents, other tents.
Facilities are well maintained and cared for. They include showers, toilets, drinking water taps, washing up area, room to sit in, fridge and freezer.
Recycled rainwater feeds the toilets, the waste is sent to a digester to be turned in to fertiliser.
The on site trailer serves various breakfast items, all sourced locally. 'The Greedy Fox' is definitely a perfect addition to the site for hungry (sometimes hungover) campers.
There are areas for wildlife to prosper which is one purpose of Foxholes. This year we were amazed to see so many bees (thanks to the beautiful foxgloves). There was a beetle bigger than one I've ever seen, birds of prey and a variety of other birds.
It is a walk in to town but it's through fields so not for people with mobility issues. It's a long stagger back so I recommend taking a torch, making sure the beam is held low as there are houses and farms nearby.
Read the FAQs on the website and the history to find out more.
