This is really a magical site, with a great atmosphere. We stayed on a summers weekend, had glorious weather and lovely company.
The site is very extensive with several fields you can chose to stay in. We stayed in the first field, though there were many shady nice spots and there was no sense of being squashed in.
The toilets are basic and only just clean enough, but ok. The showers were warm and had lovely pressure and if you leave it until later in the morning to get to the shower there is no que. Otherwise there will be a long que at peak time and at peak dish washing time, fairly typical though.
What makes this so magical is having the ability to have an outdoor camp fire - MAGIC! They bring around lovely dry, reasonably priced firewood regularly and the smell, the atmosphere is just superb because of it.
People are considerate and just get along. Everything from families to couples fit together. There is little wind and it is a lovely protected spot.
I LOVED IT! Clearly!

Have just come back from this lovely campsite - one of the best we've visited in a long while. We stayed over on a Saturday night and despite it being busy there was plenty of space for people to pitch up, and still loads of room for kids to play. The washing and toilet facilities are a bit basic (though fine if you're just staying the odd night) but the fresh flowers are a nice touch. Great, too, to have somewhere where campfires are permitted! I would definitely recommend this campsite to friends.

This is a super campsite, lots of room, good facilities and a very relaxed atmosphere. It appears to attract nice people and there was no trouble with late night noise apart from my friend 'Mark' and his incredibly loud snoring.
One of the most charming things we encountered here was the sound of the local steam railway during the evening. This site is called 'Woo Woo' and thats because the steam trains TOOT as they go past. As the train tooted almost every person in the campsite shouted 'WOO WOO!'. Its good for adults to do these things ;-).
The man who runs the site is a super chap, very friendly BUT perhaps a little novice. They had a lovely idea of providing wooden seating at the site BUT they also permit camp fires! need I say more. Not all of the seating will survive. We got accused of burning ours! and we didnt.
The prices at this site are per person, this meant we had an expensive stay as we pitched 1 small tent.
If you are in a group take as many tents, Gazebos or shelters as you like, you wont be charged for extra tents. It was £8 per adult per night and it seemed VERY steep for 1 tent!
We really enjoyed it here and I would recommend this site to anyone, its close to some good attractions and the 'vibe' is great.
There is a lake at the bottom of the field so care and supervision would be needed with children.

We have just returned from this campsite and would wholeheartedly recommend if you enjoy basic camping in beautiful surroundings.
We stayed in the Lower Moat field surrounded by trees hiding the stream which our toddler loved exploring and would have spent the whole weekend there if we'd let him.
Loved the composting toilets; apart from the smell of the sawdust you have to 'flush' with, there was no smell as they are open to the air, and far superior to any chemical, claustrophobic portaloo I have used. If you insist on these however, there were some by the shower block which were no better or worse that any I have used elsewhere. I didn't shower but they looked basic. I don't want to be negative as I loved our stay but don't expect a power shower and constant hot water in pristine conditions.
The owner Paul and his daughter were very relaxed and friendly and they came round both nights to check we were ok and to deliver logs and firelighters.
Also loved not having to listen to other peoples stereos all night, all we could hear were people talking and laughing and strumming guitars around their fires.
Finally, another reviewer mentioned the Bluebell railway waking them up. We didn't hear this till much later in the morning and anyway, its a 19th century steam train so actually a lovely sound to hear. Hardly the London-Brighton intercity!

We stayed at this campsite at the end of may and had a wonderful time. We had an incredibly friendly welcome, loved being able to have a fire and thought the facilities were excellent with brilliant copost toilets and lovely hot showers. It's a great campsite for all ages with beautiful surroundings. We went for a get together (all adults) and now are all really loopking forward to taking our children back soon as we are sure they will love it too!

Our 2nd trip to WOWO,our previous visit being last Summer when the site was relatively unknown. How things have changed!
All 3 of the fields were full of tents and some people had even scurried off into fields further back into the Farm to be able to pitch their tents in splendid isolation. Although it was no longer an undiscovered gem, the site didn't feel horribly crowded, thanks to the fact that there are still no designated pitches.
Additions to the site are the compost loos, which while didn't hold too much appeal for some people in our party, at least offered great views out over the countryside whilst one was sat down. Unfortunately there was no option but to use these as on the Sunday there was an eruption of sewage up by the 'normal' loo and shower block. No further showers have been added to the site since last each, despite the fact that the number of people on site must have quadrupled sinec last year. So with the eruption of the pipes (caused, it seems, by a nappy flushed down the toilet.)there was no running water on site at all for a fair few hours. Still, unsuprisingly, the lack of showering facilities didn't seem to bother our kids!
The local area, remains stunningly beautiful, and provides a good excuse to go the Sloop Pub which is at the end of a beautiful walk through wood and meadowland. The food there is yummy (meat is all organic or free range and comes from local sources)and the beer is pretty good too. There are a few Farm shops that we found, but nothing awe inspiring, and WOWO have stopped doing the bread and milk that was on offer last year.
So will we go back again? Of course, if only so I can have toasted marshmallows cooked over our open fire for breakfast again.

Great site for total relaxation (apart from the baby crying the tent next door). Best part was being able to boil a kettle on the open fire just outside our tent. Facilities could be improved on. Compost loos were fantastic, made you think you were really doing something good for the environment! All staff were really friendly. Very spacious pitches. Lots of places to visit locally that we didnt know existed. Only downside was the Bluebell railway with the free alarm call at 8.30 in the morning! Quite easy to go back to sleep until the 9.30 alarm call. Local shops and pubs very good. Definitely returning.

I love this site and have been a couple of times, I think its how camping should be. If the freedom of a farm, camping by streams or in woods rocks your boat you will like this. If you can play an instrument you can stay free on a Friday night and while away your hours around an open fire at a site owned by delightful people. If you like smart showers and toilets, hook ups and a camp shop and hate bumping into wildlife this is not for you. Be warned there are pixies and fairies living in the woods.

We (me, OH and 2 young boys) stayed for one night as it was down the road from us and we wanted to check it out. We had a fantastic time, the weather was amazing which always helps but this was probably the most relaxed site we have ever stayed at.
The first field had lots of groups which worried me a bit as I thought we wouldn't get any sleep but this was not the case. We stayed in the Lower Moat field which was nice and level, it was almost full round the edges at 11.30am. The loos were absolutely fine, clean enough just take your own paper just in case! We didn't bother showering but they looked fine. Late afternoon the washing up water was cold with no plugs in the sinks, apparently though there was hot water in the morning.
Wood was delivered around 7pm, £5 for a crate. The fee for the night was collected at 10pm, £24 for four of us which is a lot seeings as the facilities are a bit low to the ground but it is still a great site, my boys want to return asap and we will.

THIS SITE SHOULD BE CALLED WOW WOW AS IT IS FANTASTIC!
We have just come back from a weekend away there for our wedding anniversary and cant praise it highly enough. The owners were great and very helpful. The site is huge and even though there were a lot of people on the site (very warm weather so brings out all the campers) the fields were not over packed. There is nothing to do but enjoy the quiet of the countryside which is nice as you sit and watch the fire that you have just built and lit dance all your cares away. Children (young and old) can have fun in the woods on the swings hanging from the trees and collect wood, play ball games, paddle in the stream or pester the parents to take them on the Bluebell Railway which is just up the road.
Loos etc were clean and the showers were hot and free, so what more can you ask for.
We did come to the site August bank holiday 2007 and fell in love with the site.
There are lots of organic or local farms shops (we found the Old spot frm shop in Piltdown had fantastic meat for the b-b-q and the Piltdown man pub had great beer and Ploumans lunch to die for)so all your needs are near by.
We plan to spend many free weekends camping and this is the place to stay! Fantastic!
