We had a wonderful 3 night break at Wowo. We stayed at Stepping Stones pitch with a 4 year old boy. He loved being in the hub of the children's play area and made lots of really nice friends of all ages. It would have been nice to have some peace once it went dark so we could get our son to sleep easier.
But it is a kids paradise if you like the natural theme park of idyllic trickling stream, mud slides, plentiful rope swings(ten more next year) and campfires. We did have the world and his dog exploring through our pitch but they were all friendly.
Shower facilities were sparse and the toilet block is best. Didn't take a shower in the mobile because it was not very private. Had to wait for a mum to shower her two children but I didn't mind life is slower when you are camping.
The barn, trails, compost loos and walk to the Pub great fun. Many fridges and freezers and good information with friendly staff.Would be useful to have bins only saw one rat but we were right by the river.
The wash up area in the lower moat could do with hot water. But we enjoyed the walk to the Barn. The Trading Place was very reasonable and great place for the family to eat have a drink and play. The sloop Pub was a lovely warm reward after the adventure of dear spotting in the near by forest. We are going to book for next year though perhaps a more quiet pitch.

This is a lovely natural site surrounded by lovely woodland. There are lots of fridges and freezers for campers and a barn to keep dry in for those rainy days.
However, showering and toilet facilities are poor. I still prefer to be clean and to go to toilet in private! For a site which is supposed to be eco friendly, I didn't feel that having to drive to take your rubbish to a recycling site or piling it up in plastic bags to take home was very eco.
This is quite an expensive site compared to others
We had a lovely time over 3 days but 3 days was probably enough.

Waspbourne Manor Farm is a wonderful site for families. There is a relaxed atmosphere throughout the campsite, campers all say good morning and afternoon, it really was quite a find. We spent much of our time just at our pitch in the Tipi trail, cooking things on the campfire and watching out 1 year old son run around in the woods (not very dense, just a few trees). The only drawback I could pass on was that our pitch, The Bluebell pitch, was the epicentre for all of the children to congregate at the rope swing. As lovely as this was for our son, there was no escaping the hoards of curious kids who were happy to wander in to our tent first thing in the morning and stayed at the swing until around 9, long after our son had gone to bed.
For some this is a real plus but I think we would have been happy with a little less attention from the kids - a spot like Frank's spot at the end of the Tipi trail is ideal because the kids are only moments away but you'll get a break.
Next time we'll probably camp in the main fields and be a bit more anonymous I think. We'd definitely return though - the veggie breakfasts were stunning, the atmosphere was lovely and the soup and storytelling in lower moat Saturday night were wonderful too. Just be aware of how close to a swing you are when choosing your pitch!

Wowo is a beautiful campsite and we visited it on a glorious weekend. There was a lot about it we liked: the outstanding natural beauty, the relaxed vibe about pitches, the no-amplified-music policy, the family atmosphere.
What concerned me a LOT was the ratio of loo and shower facilities to the number of campers on site. Surely there should be more than three showers each for men and women, and more than two flushing loos? There must have been at least 150 families camped there, and with lots of babies and young children around, access to adequate sanitation is particularly important.
I have no quibble with composting loos, of which there were several, but it was the hottest weekend of the year and none of our group of children would use them because of the smell.
The verdict from campers in our group who have been there before is that Wapsbourne need to invest in larger, better loos and showers quickly. It's not enough to be lauded in the press for your many glories. I was astounded that the showers and loos were still usable - credit to the other campers. But this was not really glamping!
Friendly welcome though and a fantastic family camping experience. Just a rather dirty one!

The facilities were adequate and clean. There were insects galore, but that's what you get with camping. The pitch was flat, but what really made the camping trip was the open campfire. We loved it although we had to purchase the wood from the camp people. However since being on another camping trip as we normally go with three families, everyone missed having the open fire. The children loved it.

We went as novice campers with a large group over a weekend.
It was great! Even the compost loos which I was dreading were ok, and the showers were fine
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves to the extent that I don't think their toenails will ever be clean again. They loved the woods and the rope swings.
Fab soup on saturday night - recipe please, and marshmallows on the campfires were a great way of ending the weekend.
I will definitely be returning.

We'd read about this site and booked well in advance to enjoy the music / camp fire vibe mentioned in the newspaper. We were not disappointed at all - the staff were wonderful, the site itself picturesque and 'varied' in that the different fields all offer their own perspectives and atmospheres.
We were lucky with the weather and on the Saturday headed off to the attractive local pub - 'The Sloop' with a great beer garden and good food but in reality there was little need to leave the site. The kids were totally absorbed with exploring the shaded 'Tipi trail', splashing around in the stream and playing on the various rope swings.
The amenities were outstanding - with hot showers and water catering well for the numbers and we even enjoyed free soup prepared by the campsite owner. Saturday's ambience was lifted by the encouragement of acoustic music and our own campfire sing-song was lifted by the fantastic 'Nicky' who came and sang a few numbers with us.
This is an exceptional site run by people passionate about what camping should be about: people relaxing in beautiful surroundings, cooking on open fires and appreciating the place for good, honest acoustic music as part of the mix.
We will definitely be heading back to Wowow soon.

My 1st time camping and how lucky I was to be camping on the Tipi Trail. The friend I went with is a pro camper so luckily I wasn't totally in at the deep end!
Our pitch was at Brook side. Next to a rope swing over the brook which was fabulous for 2 of the children we had with us. Needless to say no sooner had we finished putting our tents up we got the opportunity to try out the shower facilities as two of the 6 year olds looked like mud monsters!
I know the review is meant to be objective, but hard to find any negatives for this site. Only that dogs really should be on a lead at all times as we had one or two visitors, one who left a rather large gift outside our pitch.
And whilst I think of it.The compost loo's were being used by more people than I think anticipated. May need a lot more sawdust and maintenance.
An idyllic camp site, exceeded all expectations. What a perfect break for the kids. Camping in the woods, next to a brook and being allowed to get muddy!

Our second visit to this site, and this time the weather was great. We stayed for 4 nights over half term and the site was fully booked every night.
Good things - the space, we had plenty despite it being fully booked and our kids could run around in muddy ditches and go on rope swings - the campfires, lovely staff selling the logs - great location, plenty to see and do nearby though just chilling on the campsite also has its attractions!
Bad things - morons letting their kids drive their cars around the site, we came to Wowo as it was a safe site for our under 5s but this just made our field pretty dangerous
The toilets / showers were pretty mucky all the time despite regular cleaning, a mop would have been really appreciated! - the rubbish policy, some facilities for recycling would be much appreciated.
Not sure I'd go again now unless there was some improvement in the shower / toilet facilities and there are plenty of other sites I want to try.

We stayed mid May and had a wonderful time. Our children, and sister's children are between 18 months and 4 1/2 years and had great fun. In a few year's time, I think we wouldn't see them from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave so walkie talkies are a good idea for adventurous children.
We loved: the space; tranquillity; friendliness of the staff (including log deliveries to your tent just as the fire seemed to be dwindling - £5 a big box of mixed, dry firewood, paper and fire lighters); the free wild garlic soup around a large campfire on Saturday night open to all campers to meet and have a sing song; all the rope swings and bluebell walks
We didn't quite love: the shower and loo blocks were clean but a bit- old but you're camping so what do you expect!
Not sure what one reviewer was talking about machinery and mowing the lawn, as we arrived at 3 on Friday and left Sunday afternoon and there was no mowing and no machinery. Taking rubbish home had a surprising impact as we were the last to leave our field (Lower Brook) and, despite some pretty disorganised campsites during people's stay, you really would not have known a soul had been in the field other than a few smoking embers of the fires as people took all rubbish away.
