I LOVE this campsite! I have stayed here three times now and my partner and I think it is a magical place and will be returning on numerous occasions as it is so close to London we can just hop in the car on a friday night and be cosily cooking jacket potatoes in a campfire before it gets dark! The setting is great, with most campers pitching in a tree lined meadow with a little brook running down each side. There are picnic benches and tables around and logs for fires are reasonably priced at £5 for a nice big crate full. The owners are wonderful, friendly and helpful and have already taken on board some of the criticisms from earlier reviews, such as additional rubbish and recycling bins, increasing quantity of logs for the price and ensuring the toilet facilities remain clean. We haven't experienced any problems with the on site farm workers, who enjoy their Saturday evenings but are quiet by the time most campers are turning in for the night. It seems to be a great place for families with young children who love early evening hunts for kindling to start their campfires. The facilities are adequate and the owners have restricted the number of bookings during busier times so that they don't become overcrowded. There are a total of eight toilets and showers in the main facilities area four of which are in portacabin units. On our first visit here we stayed a night in the Yurt, which was a very cosy experience, which I would recommend to anyone with a romantic heart! Complete with candles, lanterns and a wonderful wood burning stove, brookside hammock and the sound of the bubbling stream. A 30min stroll away is the 'Sloop Inn', a cute country pub with a nice garden area. We enjoyed good food which was moderately priced and even had sunday live music in the garden. There is a small local shop a few minutes drive away in Danehill, or a garage with convenience store in the other direction, but on site the farm has an organic pick your own vegetable patch. Items for sale are listed on the blackboard, and you just pay for what you have picked at the office.

I would just like to say what a fantastic little camp site this is. My friend and I stayed there in June this year for x3 days. We were met buy the owners on arrival who gave us a full tour and friendly advice on where to pitch our tents. Nothing was to much trouble and we felt very comfortable straight away. The location was next to a beautiful stream with overhanging trees, abundant wildlife of Birds and rabbits. The facilities were incredible for the money including Hot showers (free) and Hot water for washing up in,Indoor toilets and laundry rooms. Internet access was also available in a large recreation room with Sky TV. I have stayed all over the country now and would say this is the best value for money camp site I have stayed in. Together with a very friendly couple who run the site you cant ask for much more than this, I will be back!

This site has lots to offer for groups or couples. We went as a group of 12 & it was brilliant! We was put in a seperate field, where we could make as little or as much noise as we liked, which suited us down to the ground. I spoke to several other campers who were more than happy with the site too.
The showers and toilets were basic & a couple of the non-campers weren't too happy with them but the rest of us found them to be clean and tidy (and most impoprtantly working!)
Although the site is a working farm it was surprisingly quieter than I thought as I'd read a previous review about the workers playing loud music till all hours and I had visions of tractors and other farm machinery flying up & down, but it was quite the opposite.
The workers had their music blurring on the saturday nite but calmed it down around 11pm & the only time we saw or heard the tractor was when they delivered us some wood.
The local pub (the sloop) was pleasant but pretty pricey for food & quite a treck (20-25 min walk) but I think there may have been a shorter route if you went across the fields.
The campsite itself didnt offer anything much for kids to do but we didnt venture into sheffield park so there may be more for them around and you can heard the steam train occasionally in the distance, which would attract the younger kids. If your a big kid, like myself, there are plenty of trees etc were you can make rope swings & plenty of fields for ball games etc.
I got the impression they are relatively new to the camping side of things and can see this campsite becoming more and more popular. I for one will definatley be returning.

This campsite and it's owners made my camping experience a positive one! Usually it is the weather that determines whether the camping experience is good or not, but over the July floods I was very impressed with the site's location, conditions, and the owner's hospitality for me and my two young sons. We selected this campsite for it's proximity to London and the freedom to return home if necessary; as well as the ability to have campfires! With it's beautiful picturesque setting and easy drive through the countryside to reach, the working farm was simple to find- just follow the brown signs to "Bluebell Railway" and it was the 2nd right turn after it. Jean and Paul were very welcoming and genuinely friendly. They assisted me in getting settled and showed me around with my 18 month old son and his 7 year old brother.
The large rustic barn provided refuge in the torrential rain and the TV lounge near the office with the FREE billiard table was a relief room for us. We had fresh eggs, organic bread, and award winning cheese sold to us at a very reasonable price. It was the convenience of having the owners and their staff deliver logs, and care about our stay there. We went on walks, and visited local attractions! We met many other families and campers who were happy to meet us! A nice place that I will definitely return to *especially when the weather improves!

Just come back from a couple of days staying at Wapsbourne Farm. The location is gorgeous, a lovely meadow with streams on both sides (unfortunately waterlogged so we had to camp in the less picturesque field above), lovely forest with DEER all around and campfires - all too gorgeous. The couple who run it could not have been more helpful and friendly, selling free range organic eggs, fresh unpasturised milk and local cheeses and delivering firewood in little wagons which the kids were allowed to ride in - too sweet. However, there are a lot of drawbacks on the practical side, which is such a shame as with a bit of effort, this could be the most perfect campsite for those of us who love back to basics camping. As one previous reviewer commented - you share very, very basic facilities with lots of backpacking farm workers living in shabby caravans next to the site. The toilets were cleaned only once a day (it was very wet and muddy) and this cleaning seemed to involve just a hosepipe - everything, literally, hosed down - so that loos were wet, including loo paper. The showers were full at peak times with the farm workers getting themselves clean after a day labouring and were not exactly boiling once you got in. The plumbing at the washing up was so poor that washing up water (complete with spaghetti) came out around your feet. And the bins next to the washing up - well, there were no bins, more like a collection of boxes and plastic bags - were overflowing with rubbish. They did have recycling but it we only found it when we were leaving, it not being in the obvious place - by the bins and washing up. Believe it or not, we were all perfectly happy with all the drawbacks of the place, until we found out the price. £7 a night for adults, £4 per child over 3 is incredibly steep considering what you have to put up with. Although not a great stickler for cleanliness myself and very happy to rough it, I have stayed at far better run places for a fraction of the price. Having said that - if the owners put just a little thought and time into improving the place - just separating campers from labourers would be a start, it could be the most perfect place and one which people would be happy to pay for.

Just back from a lovely sunny weekend. There were 3 families all in tents. This site has been going for 4 weeks the owner told me. Bear this in mind as you read through. Firstly the location. It is fantastic. Sheltered by trees and streams on both sides of the field right next to the Bluebell steam railway. We were worried about the streams and kids (ranging from 2 yrs to 9 yrs) but it was not a problem. Pitches were level and loads (I mean loads) of room. Very friendly Farmer. Came round early evening selling logs. Yes you can have a fire. Fantastic as it got dark seeing all the fires down the field. However the quantity of logs for a fiver was on the small side but he did give us a few extra. 2nd night we used some logs that we had acquired in the woods. Now to the 2nd night. This farm offers working holidays and the workers live in some statics not too far from the site. Saturday night seemed like a competition to see whose music was the loudest. Unfortunately the music went on until 5.30am. The last two hours being "thrash metal". Had a word with the farmers wife the next day and she said sorry she would have a word with them. This needs sorting. That said those in our group that had drunk the most red wine said the noise didn't affect them! The facilities are one level below basic. In fact there may as well not be any. You are sharing with the guys on the working holidays (40 of them). There is a portaloo with shower that I wouldn't wash a pair of old boots in let alone myself or the kids. As for the loos.well don't go there. There were disgusting. However, despite the third world facilities and loud music we came away having had a great time. Some investment in a toilet/shower block and moving the workers away would make this site perfect.

This is a really nice relaxed campsite, had two large fields and free choice of where to camp. The owners Jean and Paul were very friendly and helpful providing a map of the local area and suggestions walks and activities. Camp fires are allowed and encouraged, Paul will drop off wood to your tent in his tractor for £5/night. The facilities consist of toilet/shower block for girls and two portacabins one male one female with 2 toilets and 2 showers in each which were basic but clean. There are lots of local attractions - Sheffield Park, Bluebell Railway and various pubs, one of which is walkable from the site about 15mins. Good for all ages, would definitely recommend.
