Relaxed camping site, with great campfire/ group pitches (we were 5 families together), space for Gazebo's. Staff helpful with setting up etc.
Entertainment on Sat night/ free soup - nice touch.
Areas for kids to play, swings, stream to run through etc. So they all had a great time.
BUT be prepared for dreadful facilities for showers/ toilets/ washing up. Only 4 toilets and 4 showers - no areas to get dressed. Filthy dirty. Insufficient for number of people/ size of campsite.
Fridges/ freezers in barn - helpful albeit dirty. Barn not appealing at all.
Seriously doubt I will go back unless they improve facilities as at £35 per night min 3 night stay it wasn't cheap camping.

This was our second visit- went the previous year(one adult and two 9-11 children). The location is on a farm with large open fields and woodland nearby. Campfires are allowed and the nearest pub is a a decent walk through woods and and fields. It is very family friendly-lots of families and the kids can wander around the large site, where there are rope swings, other kids, a little river with stepping stones and places to run around. It has a well stocked shop, firewood crates and friendly staff. The showers were a bit basic and served a large number of people. The nature of the site meant the showers could be near in the busier parts and obviously further if in a quieter part. Toilets were more evenly distributed. It has a steam railway nearby and is a good base for visiting further afield. I would certainly go back.

Wowo, is really a hidden gem and by far, the best campsite I've ever visited. We have now visited around 15 times since 2008. It is a natural habitat for families with young children, where they can run free and explore the outdoors. It's so friendly and the custodians of the site do a wonderful job of creating a real community atmosphere through activities for children, live music, free soup, paella on Friday night. The kids even enjoyed free professional yoga one Saturday evening in the summer! The site is surrounded by beautiful oak trees where you'll normally find a hidden swing, or a gully to play in. We have been in groups, often with families themselves and always found nice, private space to pitch up from where we can watch the kids run about. Many of our friends have also stayed in Yurts, Sheppards Hut, Lotus Tent - all beautifully serviced and so very civilised! The camp fires really make it too - with the team delivering wood daily. There are brilliant walks to local pubs, Sheffield Park, the Bluebell Railway, a micro-brewery nearby. We rarely get in the car when we're there. When we come home from a weekend at Wowo it really feels like we've been on an escape somewhere really magical. It's really the kind of place where kids make their best childhood memories and grown ups get to get back to what's important too. Go!

A really lovely campsite, very friendly welcome at reception, fantastic paella from Paella Inc on the Friday night, make sure you go early for it as it runs out quickly! Great atmosphere. However, be warned the toilets In the camping fields (porta loos) are absolutely disgusting, the worst I have ever seen, and the campsite is not cheap so why not please provide decent toilets. The showers are very dirty too and hardly any of them for such a big campsite.

Visited WoWo for a 2 night stay, 3 families with 6 kids ranging from 5 to 12.
The site was pretty busy but we found a nice spot around a fire pit with plenty of room around us. The weather was showery so we also had plenty of space for a gazebo, no extra charge.
The reception was warm and friendly on arrival & a warden was helpful in finding the best situation for our party.
The children soon enjoyed themselves exploring the vast areas of woodland, gullies and rope swings- great.
Our one big negative was the toilet/ showers/ washing up areas. Not only were these tatty at best, but quite dirty too.
This is obviously a successful and popular site & could certainly warrant an overhaul of the facilities. At £35 a night this isn't a cheap option.
Having said that, we would probably return. The barn area was useful along with lots of campers fridges & freezers to use.
Also, the music on the Sat was atmospheric, it would be lovely on a warm evening.
All in all, a great campsite but be prepared for poor washing facilities!

We have just returned from a long bank holiday weekend to WOWO. The pith was level and good ground (no stones). We pitched in lower moat at the very bottom. Beautiful scenery and next to the brook - blooming with wild garlic all around us.
The kids had a brilliant time on the rope swings and generally having fun poking fires etc. They did the bushcraft morning 10-1pm which gave us a little break.
My only niggle was the shower block. Too few, too dirty and too dated. For such a popular site you would think they would invest in some decent facilities - they are not short of money that is for sure. The shop could be better stocked also.
We were cold one night and they kindly gave us blankets! !
We will be back as not too far to travel and good vibe.

What an amazing site: after searching around sites in 2011 we have settled on our favourite- Wowo.
With kids, or just adults it has all you need and the facilities are great.
We love the focus on fires and music and kids' play. The owners and all staff are really into these and the Saturday night music sessions were so magical, and soulful for those who fancied joining it. Kids music and dancing too were loved by our 4 year old and 6 year old girls.
All the facilities we thought were great and good condition: you could be eco with the compost toilets: or for those that preferred you could use the portaloos or the flushing loos, and they all seemed clean and nice and working all the time. Lots of washing up sinks. There was sometimes a queue for showers but not very often, mainly for the extra special family wet room which I've never seen at any other campsites anyway! Like any campsite, if you shower in the evening or 'off peak' you don't wait. It was a great addition to showering ourselves, and bathing the kids (Baby bath provided).
We didn't join in much of the additional activities but heard a lot about them, so will try next year. Wide games, night games, foraging, pottery course etc.
We had bit of a first aid issue at night midweek too, and they had a night warden who came to help and was really friendly.
Coming on nicely Wowo - keep it going.

With camp fires allowed (and almost everyone having one with good quality reasonably priced wood available on site), virtually no restrictions on where to set up your tent on 4 beautiful areas of (large) open space surrounded by woods, this is an idyllic site.
The on site shop is well stocked, and the home baked bread is delicious.
Unfortunately the toilet and wash facilities are very very poor. There are simply far too few, and they are verging on the decrepit.

We had to change our booking at the last minute, and Wowo were great - no hassle with rearranging the booking for another time. This was our first visit to Wowo and we were very impressed (with a couple of reservations, see below).
Really relaxed site, very restful and calm. We stayed in Lower Brook, which was great. Nice big pitches, own fire, benches and picnic table. General air of consideration for others which meant that, though the site was pretty busy, everything calmed down by about 10. 30pm.
One of the drawbacks was the showers, which do need some updating. There were two in the main block, and a further two in a toilet block with very flimsy curtains and the strong possibility that someone coming in for a pee might get to see a bit more than expected!
I know there were showers elsewhere on site, but we obviously went to the ones closest to our tent. If the site had been full (we went midweek), I'm not sure what the queues would have been like. Toilets also look rather tired. Given that this is the most expensive campsite we've stayed on, it was a bit of a disappointment.
But, having said that, we probably would stay again because the site was so friendly and relaxed. Would also have liked a bit more clarity on what we could and couldn't put in bins/recycle. Some other reviewers have mentioned receiving a recycling bag, which we didn't get.

I went here with 3 boys after it featured in the Independent. Great campsite for families - my children loved the rope swings and bridges and playing in the streams.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very pretty location and fantastic to have a camp fire.
However shower and WC facilities were a let down especially given the price we paid for a pitch.
The Sloop pub is a 30/40 min walk through the woods and does a good lunch.
