Great site. Beautiful open site with lovely veiws edged by woodland and lovely places for children to play. Very friendly site manager who made the effort to visit each pitch over the weekend and talk to the campers. Imaginative and well thought out campsite with some great extra touches such as a Catalonian breakfast and a hog roast. We were a little disappointed with the facilities which were a little run down and found it difficult to have to take our rubbish away. Otherwise a really good site.

Have just come back from one night at wowo's. It was very nice to be able to have a campfire and the kids loved the site, cycling around and playing in the stream.
But, the composting loos were a bit disgusting and you had to walk quite a distance to get to the loos at the front from our field. I used the composting loos at first and then stopped when I couldn't stand the smell any longer! The loos at the front, though better, weren't very clean.
Also, you couldn't leave rubbish at the campsite, so we had to take it with us and take it to the nearest dump on the way home. This would be very annoying if we were there for more than one night, as the nearest dump is 8 miles away!
You cannot use the footpaths surrounding the site, partly because people have been littering heavily, but if they took camper's rubbish, surely this wouldn't happen! they claim that they don't take rubbish for environmental reasons, but surely it isn't great for the environment when every camper staying more than a few days has to drive 8 miles to get rid of theirs, surely it would be much more green for the campsite to pay to dispose of this rubbish?!
Otherwise we had a good time, but wouldn't want to stay more than one night!

We had a lovely, relaxing time at Wowo! We only stayed 2 nights, but would have loved to have stayed longer.
The campfires really made our stay here!
The woodland on the site is really safe, and really fun for the kids (and for the grown ups too!)
The hog roast on Saturday night was so delicious!
The site was lovely and clean - though the shower block can get muddy.
There are some lovely places to visit locally, though the directions for local attractions are AWFUL! We set out on a walk looking for one of the local pubs, and ended up in the middle of nowhere! A map would be handy, or better instructions!
We would definitely return to this site, though as were new to camping, were keen to try other sites.
But overall, LOVED IT! :)

Lovely site, very well and unobtrusively run. Fantastic wilderness bits for kids. The Friday music night seemed to largely involve shouted choruses of Oasis, and our neighbours kept us up til 1 am yakking - but we were probably unlucky. Sad to see campers forbidden to use the footpath to local pub, because of littering (is this even legal?) Looking forward to going back.

Would heartily endorse all the previous positive comments. We were there over a fine weekend in August and there was still plenty of space for everyone. Beautiful setting, peaceful & the kids loved it.
A few reservations:
1) The owners make a big deal of being eco-friendly and all that, encouraging you to take your rubbish and recycling home. What this means in effect is that they don't provide rubbish or recycling bins. If you've a car full of kids and camping stuff you really don't want to have to take stinking rubbish bags away with you after your stay. Surely they could get something organised.
2) Not enough loos for the number of people. 'Eco-loos' pretty stinky and Portaloos vile in the dark. Should get their act together.
3) Had to queue 40 mins for the famous hog roast. Get there in time! Poor hygiene practices by the couple serving -- the guy cooking the meat breaking off to chop up unwashed lettuce without washing hands; the girl putting the meat & salad in the bread also handling money -- no gloves and no hand-washing. Great recipe to spread bugs! We survived though -- and the meat was delicious when we eventually got it.

This was a return trip to this site and I was disappointed. The lovely walk to the pub has been stopped (although I believe it is a public footpath) Many of the rope swings appear to be gone, including my daughters favourite that went over the stream. The TV room is no longer there although the table tennis facilities have improved.
Generally the site is more commercialised with 'breakfasts and hog roasts' at the weekend. It now has a reception where you have to check-in and be given a map of the site with the rules. Before this we had just arrived, chosen a pitch and paid when the logs had been brought round in the evening.
We still enjoyed the open fires but felt that the number of logs in each load had diminished.
The toilets and showers had not improved and were generally very muddy.
There are no shops or pub within walking distance and the site has no facilities to sell milk/bread.However, I expect this will change.
We found this site by chance and loved it for its simplicity, now we are not so sure.

We went to Wowo with a couple of other families, we had a lovely time BUT watch out for all the pot holes on the way down to the fields!
The porta loo toilet block, it didn't help that weather wasn't too good, but it was particularly unclean. No way of drying hands either so make sure you take a towel or some tissues with you! The showers in the portable bit were very, very, very hot and took quite a bit of adjusting to sort out, then only to have a trickle of water, no good for long, thick hair and certainly no good for children! BUT on the other hand the other toilet block seemed to be cleaned a few more times in the day and the showers were great! Again maybe a little too hot for little ones! The eco toilets.Well lets just say.You would need a mask to use them. They were full of flies and I gagged just as I was passing them! But they are out of the way and it is your choice!
It was great for the kids and great to have camp fires. My friends only introduced us to campfires last year after 12 years of camping and we are going away this weekend with a different lot of people and I am panicking that there will be no fire! The staff were brilliant and very helpful and always made sure you had plenty of wood for the evening, the guy even helped cover ours up and put it under the trees so it didn't get damp! It was only a fiver for a crate too!
The area is lovely, right near the Bluebell Railway, which we went on. And the pub that you can supposedly walk to, you now cant because of people that have stayed at this campsite have ruined it for others by dropping so much litter on the path that the Farmer has now said that no-one is allowed to walk through and you have to agree to that before pitching up. Apparently there is another way round but we didn't find it. BUT for a short drive The Sloop is definitely a pub to visit, staff were lovely, locals were lovely and food was good too. Dogs and children were very much welcomed too!

We went for a couple of nights camping with family,it was a relaxed place with no hassles and you could camp anywhere you wanted which was nice. There was no extra charge for gazebos and no restrictions on tent size. There were plenty of woods for the kids to explore with tyre swings and streams to cross. It was nice to have a camp fire in the evening but I would take wood with you because the amount they supply for £5 is not worth the money. There are two separate toilet and shower blocks which are ok but not the most modern of facilities. It is overall a good place to stay if you just want to chill out.

Just returned from another visit to WoWo. We have two small children (both under five) and whole family had a lovely time. Beautiful site, completely unspoilt. Great that you can choose your own pitch when you arrive and have campfires. Children had great time exploring the woods and fields, swinging on tyres and rope swings and paddling in the stream. Facilities are not luxurious but adequate - flushing toilets as well as two composting loos, washing up area, showers and laundry room. Friendly people, great atmosphere. Lots of places for families to visit locally - Bluebell railway next door, Winnie the Pooh country (site is in the middle of the Ashdown Forest), Forest Row (great pizzas at Java and Jazz and lovely old fashioned toyshop at Bramble Corner), Brighton and Sussex coast not too far. Not for you if you prefer lots of mod cons and facilities, a definite if you enjoy sitting in front of a campfire, watching your kids run around carefree.

Just back from another excellent weekend at this site. If you've got a group or a family, it doesn't really get much better.
Loads of space in 4 fields, trees, rope swings, woodland, campfires, fridges and freezers, eco-toilets, no music (except our acapella Micheal Jackson tributes) and a great pub a short walk away with really good food. They sell the basics and breakfast, tea, coffee etc.
See you again soon!
