Great site, one of the best I have been too, especially good for kids. If you are a fan of sites that are natural, with fires, lots of space and friendly owners this will work for you.

Lot's of middle class London obviously camps here at weekends, the kids run around the fields and streams having a great time and the adults can share a glass and a chat around the fire at night. Ideal.

The Friday night paella and Saturday night singing were fun distractions and welcomed, nothing too involved or demanding. Will certainly come back.

Just returned from a two night stay. Very impressed with the space we had for our group to camp, large areas with cut grass for the kids to play football on. Wonderful 'forest' with many rope swings, table tennis table in the 'barn' was a nice addition.

Great place for fire with four benches around. Owners very friendly. Free soup and bread on Saturday evening. Shame that one of the toilets was not working.

Had two compost loos on our site and two (very narrow) portable toilets. One shower on our site - was more of a cold dribble. Had other toilets and better showers near reception.

All in all a wonderful campsite, children had a fantastic time, toilets could be improved!

We have just come back from spending 4 nights at Wowo. Overall, I would rate the campsite highly. The actual camping side of things, ie pitches, are fantastic. The freedom to turn up and pitch up where you want (within reason) is great. No restrictions on having so many metres between each tent etc which is great if you are camping in a large group.

Each pitch has its own fire pit, which was great. We purchased our wood from the site, we had 5 crates during our stay, which was plenty. The wood burned fantastically, no cracking or embers flying in every direction.

The surrounding area of the campsite was lovely. Great for children, lots of tree swings, stepping stones in the streams, plently of space for them to run around. The bluebell railway is a short walk away from the site too.

We stayed in the lower moat field, there were compost toilets, a portable loo and washing up facilities within our field, and the main toilet/shower area was only a short walk away. The lower moat contained the 'village' area, which we were a bit disappointed with. We were led to believe that this area was a hive of activity, which wasn't the case.

Paella was being served on the Friday night, which was great. Like others have said, make sure you get there early, as it did get busy. The Saturday night there was free soup and bread, which was a lovely idea. Not my cup of tea, but other people seemed to enjoy it. On Saturday and Sunday mornings between 8-11am a continental style breakfast was on offer - the chef was lovely, really friendly and enthusiastic about what he was doing. The pancakes were lovely! The only catch is that there are only 30 servings available - although it was quite on both mornings when we went.

The facilities were not too much of a problem. There are toilets and showers within the main barn, and additional showers and toilets in wooden cabins. There was also a family shower room.

The washing up facilities were OK, we quickly learned that the water pressure was very weak, and once a toilet was flushed or a shower was on, the water stopped all together. One evening our tap wouldn't turn off as it got stuck! Another evening there was very little hot water. Everyone was having to go into the showers and fill up their sinks from there, a) the water was much faster b) the water was slightly warmer.

The fridges and freezers - considering the site was fairly busy, there were no problems with these at all. You are encouraged to use cool boxes for bottles to leave space in the fridge for others.

I do not want this review to sound negative, as we all really enjoyed ourselves whilst staying at this site and I would go back again. The site has so so much potential. You can see a lot of hard work has gone into the site, and I'm sure if the village area was utilised better and if the washing up facilities improved (consistent hot running water) the site would be perfect!

Took the two oldest kids for their first camping experience with my brother-in-law, nephew and father-in-law.

Very nice place and right in a forest, pitches were spread apart and fire pits were allowed, with logs to buy. At the time we went the toilets/showers weren't great but it didn't matter to the children who were too little to notice. This has probably improved since we went.

We took the long walk to the pub through the forests and fields which the kids enjoyed but got tired as we didn't realise how long the walk was.

We visited the steam railway just up the road which was great for them to see.

We didn't join in the singing of an evening in the barn but the kids just loved being outdoors. Has a hippy feel to the place and proved that as the weekend progressed. Would recommend.

We love WOWO and have been going since May 2008. We've seen it change over time and develop into something even better than its early days. The barn use is great and the addition of the swings in the trees are lovely. We love the addition of the marque and area that brings everyone together. This place has a great atmosphere and a magic place not far from London.

We stayed again most recently in May time this year which again was a good stay. Having camped a lot in the UK though, it's starting to feel that perhaps WOWO is taking advantage of its location to London and forgetting some of the things that are important to get right. A couple of things that need attention:

- Showers and loos. These are really horrendous and have been the same set up since day one. They're about the worst we still chose to stay in these days. The only upgrade to them has been some wood cladding to make it look more charming, but its oddly superficial I'm afraid). With kids getting messy, there is nothing better than getting them cleaned up once or twice in a stay! Frankly it stops us booking a longer stays because of three day crud that sets in!

- Booking system. I waited on the waitlist for about 3 months for stay in July. The space became available, an email was sent about 11am on a working day to tell me it was available, but they had released it to the public to book and not held it for me. It wasn't until the end of the working day that I saw their email and by then it was long gone.

- Pitches could be more clearly marked out to make sure they are relatively equitable and not just the early and the lucky.

- Price. For the price that they now charge (including £10 for a vehicle oddly, when there is no serious way to get there or camp using public transport, at least not for families who obviously are hit hardest by this fee) they need to upgrade the loos/showers. If it's for green reasons, I'd soon pay an offset or a carbon tax like system.

Otherwise, we love it and will keep coming back but ask that management please take a look and keep on evolving in the right ways to make for happy campers :)

Just come back from our second visit to Wowo, and enjoyed it as much as the first. The staff are very friendly, the pitches are well separated, lovely stream to splash in and lots of swings dotted around for the children, who love it here.

A large 'village' area has been added since last April, which played host in the evenings to storytelling, children's games, paella and free organic soup and fresh bread. It's fairly pricey, but no more so than nearby campsites, and the facilities seemed fine to me.

I am a very experienced camper and I took my 7yr old boy and 5mnth old dog along to WoWo's on foot, via public transport with enough kit for a week is hard work but very rewarding.

The campsite is truly beautiful! the new toilets and showers are warm and clean, the old ones do the job.

There is ample space around each plot to have privacy and yet not too much to avoid making new friends.

The fire wood is cheap and the open fires are an amazing opportunity, you have never smelt so much delicious food cooing away!

Locally there are dozens of options form local farm meat to supermarkets just a drive away.

If like us you don't leave the campsite, there are always amazingly tasting fresh eggs, bread, milk, butter, ice-creams, cereals etc available from the campsite office.

There is 'loads' for the kids to do, the bushcraft sessions are brilliant value and the beautiful forest south of the campsite is a true break from civilisation and the ducks just walk straight by your tent on their way to the beautiful streams, its great!

The photos on the website don't do this part of the countryside justice.

My opinion, if you pack good kit, good attitude and can go without your double shot soya honey latte for a day then its as good as family holidays get. It's about the kids and don't forget that, and you won't see many unhappy ones on this farm.

On a final note Jean (the apparent owner) turned out to be one of the kindest, politest most helpful women I've met in a long time.

It has to be my English campsite of choice.

We have just spent the bank holiday weekend at Wowo and had heard this site was excellent.

It is certainly set in beautiful surroundings and it was lovely to have our own real campfire to sit next to all evening.

The kids enjoyed the rope swings and playing in the gully's which was great old fashioned fun.

The major drawback at what is otherwise an idyllic site are the very poor WC and shower facilities, especially bearing in mind it is pricier than any other site we have stayed at.

The site was very busy without being crowded but unless there is some serious reinvestment in a new purpose built WC/shower block the popularity may well tail off.

We were disappointed with the paella guy who came to our tent on the Friday night and took an order for four portions of paella only to find the guy in the queue in front of us asked for twenty portions leaving us with two cold pots of rice which were given to us free as a goodwill gesture of sorts at 8pm when we then had to make alternate arrangements for a meal.

We would return again but would really like to see the facilities improved which would leave this site hard to beat.

My 3 generation family visited Wowo for the first time this August and we can't wait to go back. The site is lovely and has lots of space with 3 main camping fields and several fields for children and dogs to run and play.

Dotted around each site are campfire pits with seating and sometimes tables around that were the highlight of every evening.

There is a lovely reception with good basic such as milk, eggs and herbs.

Great for the children and young people is a central barn. It has big comfy sofas, table tennis and is a great place to meet others. There are communal fridges and a freezer.

This is a really lovely site - bit expensive charging per night per car along with top person rates but it won't deter us going back. Thanks to all at Wowo for such a lovely holiday.

Firstly: look for sign for 'Wapsbourne Manor Farm', not WoWO!

Very warm reception. recycling is taken seriously, you get a recycling bag when you book in. Composting toilets which are a really great idea.

Very good & sturdy picnic benches & tables, some cooking stands.

Very relaxing, woods and pub within 20/10 mins walk.

Great 'clubhouse' in the reception/barn that the kids made good use of in the rain. Has a piano, sofas & fridges.

Farm eggs & veg available.

Paella served on Fridays, pizza saturdays and free soup on sunday! Big marquee in one field. Don't know what it's really for, but a fine shelter from the rain!

Quite expensive, as it charges for cars as well as people/tents, but this fits in with the eco theme.

Haywards Heath is a 15 min drive away, usual big supermarkets etc.
