We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend and had a fantastic break. We had a great time playing cricket and having bbq's. Later on we went for a cycle and sat round the campfire toasting marshmallows. It was very peaceful and relaxed.
The new compost toilets were handy for our tent friends and caused a laugh and the showers were ok. The owner Paul was very friendly and the kids loved the ride in his trailer. Some friends walked through the woods to the sloop inn, they said it took 15 mins and they returned very happy!
The field we stayed in was surrounded by streams and tyre swings which the kids loved. Our dog was allowed to wander amongst us off the lead which was lovely for him. We were abit reluctant to put a review up because we dont want this campsite to get too popular! We've had such a great time that we are going back next bank holiday.
We hope that Paul's wife is on the road to recovery and thank him for providing a relaxed friendly peaceful place to stay.

We stayed here for two nights in April, 2 families with children aged between 6 and 11.

The site is large and has a lovely rural feel. There are three separate camping fields, no set pitches, quite secluded and edged by trees and streams. It is a perfect environment for children to run wild and explore, and Paul the farmer positively encouraged this. Our children enjoyed playing on the tyre and rope swings and collecting bugs. I wouldn't reccommend this place for very small children - you would need to keep them on a piece of elastic as unfenced streams and bonfire and there is no play area.

We had no problem with the facilities, although site was fairly quiet. Paul says that refurbishments to the toilet block are imminent. We always found it clean, and there was plenty of hot water.

They do not do gas refills, but Paul went out of his way to try to get ours exchanged, when we ran out in the middle of cooking our sausages. No worries - they cook rather fast on a campfire in high winds!

Overall lovely site, very friendly owners, great to have campfire, will be back. Don't tell too many people about this place!

7 Dads, 11 children (aged between 5 & 9) and rain forecast - this could have been a recipe for disaster - yet in fact in turned out to be a magical weekend.

A Theme Park this isn't - it's back to basic camping, but as soon as we arrived, the children were off to enjoy the freedom and safety of the well contained field and woods. Playing on rope swings, climbing trees, building dens and hunting for Dinosaur footprints!

Paul the owner made us all feel very welcome and made our stay that much easier. Each night he would bring us some fire wood, whilst the children gathered kindling to enable us to make a great fire for Barbecuing and roasting marshmallows. Surprisingly around 9pm all the children (well most!) were asleep due to all their running around and the fresh air. This gave us Dad's a well earned rest and enjoy a beer around the camp fire.

The toilets were OK, but I understand that work will begin very shortly on a full refurbishment.

Would we visit again - definitely (even the wives want to come next time!)

Just had a lovely five nights here with our two children (6 and 7). Our host Paul immediately made us feel welcome and the children excited about what lay ahead. We stayed in the yurt which is cosy and great fun - especially during one night of spectacular rain. Marshmellows every night, of course, and Daddy (for which read 'superannuated ex hippy') quickly relaxed into his six string and managed to pretend he was James Taylor half an hour each night.
We zipped to Brighton very quickly one day which the kids loved, and were back in the yurt for the kid's tea-time at around 6pm. Each evening Paul or one of his assistants zoomed around on a little quad bike towing a small trailer delivering fire wood to everyone and usually a number of children - including ours - were on the trailer enjoying the ride with whoops of delight.
Early mornings were dewey and quiet and magical. Paul has big plans for this place, but happily they are all about an intelligent, rather than cynically commercial, approach to developing outdoor as well as cultural activity here. One definitiely to watch. Don't bother if you want Sky Sports and a bar. Please. We'll certainly keep an eye out. Good luck, Paul, and thank you for your hospitality.

Excellent campsite if you like proper camping. Paul the site owner was friendly and helpful. The dog was welcome and the kids enjoyed Paul's campfire stories. Beautiful location and we even saw the deer as they ran past our tent. We spent many a happy hour by the campfire or on the rope swing we built. Toilet block only a problem if you let it be - we didn't. We would definitely visit again - in fact just looking for when we can fit in another visit.

Just spent one lovely night here and what a delightful spot in the Sussex countryside it is. We arrived around 6pm on friday night, set up tent, made our camp fire, BBQ lit, food sizzling, wine uncorked . BLISS!

Heard grunting in the night, nudged husband (denies it was him) still looking for pig, badger?!

Note to self: Remember sleeping bags next time!

Not deterred by toilet blocks as we wee in the woods and wash with baby wipes and boiled water . You can't beat back to nature camping ;-) Ps Just wee!

This site is brilliant! The farmer Paul and his wife where really helpful and sent us to a secluded site in a field. We had the whole field to ourselves and we could have an open fire. The kids loved playing in the woods on the swings and in the stream. Warning to those who want comfort and boring camping this is not it. The closest to wild camping that I have found in England.

We loved it! The loos and showers are basic but hot and free - with fresh sweetpeas in a vase in the ladies!

Great site if you like you camping fun and simple. Frank the site manager is a star and is always willing to help. Wonderful setting, but don't expect top end facilities. We will definitely be back soon.

Great walks in the area, one of which leads to a lovely Pub.

Local shops not great but adequate.

The toilet and shower block is shared by the farm workers that live on site, but they are very friendly so it was no problem.

The organic produce available to buy on site is worth every penny, especially the milk.

We stayed as a party of 19 for a week at the end of August. The site is basic but when you're camping who cares.? Wood delivery was great - although collecting our own was fun too. The 11kids (ages from 2 - 9) had a whale of a time exploring the woods and making swings and dens (actively encouraged by farmer Paul!). We were given complete freedom to choose where we pitched and chose the furthest corner of the furthest field (we didn't want to disturb other campers with our noisy kids) and had the most fantastic time. Didn't feel the need to stray far from the site (way too relaxed!), although we did visit the Bluebell Railway (the woo-woo's in the distance made the trains impossible to ignore!) and had a lovely day at the seaside too. There were 19 very sad faces on leaving day, the grownups had to take responsibility for their children again, and the kids lost their freedom-we will be back!

Have just returned from Wapsbourne Farm for the weekend. The couple who own the farm are very charming, and have a very idealistic view of their campsite. On arrival we drove into a huge field with a little woodland and stream running down one side, there weren't many other campers and the Yurte is in one corner of the field. Farmer Paul had put in a lovely rope swing which the kids made use of immediately. We pitched up in a great spot with a ready made campfire pit and some log seats around it, this all seemed lovely until we saw the facilities, unfortunately the farm workers, of which there are many, live in a large number of static caravans right next to the showers and toilets, consisting of 4 portaloo toilets and4 portaloo showers with very old plastic curtains, the locks on the toilets were missing and pretty filthy. The other4 toilets and showers were in a very old brick building next door, this resembled a public toilet again nowhere to change or get dried for the shower and only an old plastic curtain for privacy.A man came in while I was trying to get undressed and get into the shower,I think he was trying to make an attempt at cleaning, as the cleanliness was very poor. There was absolutely no cold water facilities in there and no way of drying your hands, the sinks were cracked and broken, the ceiling was falling in and very wet as were the toilets, floors and walls, no ventilation.

We actually went back to our friends house on the saturday to use their showers as we could not face using the campsite facilities.

Otherwise the owners were lovely the kids had a tractor ride and pitches were very spaced out.

Parties need to be kept in line as we were kept up til 5am Sunday morning.

We had a good time but we felt we paid a lot of money for this trip and won't be returning i'm afraid. Not unless they put in a proper toilet/shower block.
