Just spent five nights at this very pleasant site in Meriden. Have wanted to visit for a long time now, but only just got around to it. This was our first time caravanning in the winter months and wasn't sure what to expect, but I am glad to say that we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The site itself is very well kept and very pleasant reception staff. The pitch was a good size and ample for our needs. Set in a woodland area the site has access to a pleasant walk along a country lane, ideal for walking the dogs and also to the local golf club. Incidentally the access road to the golf club runs along side the site and there is some road noise, but it never bothered us at all.
Other reviewers have commented on the noise from aircraft from nearby Birmingham airport, but again this was not a problem at all.
Lots of wild birds to see and squirrels popping over in the mornings, a pleasure to watch.
Toilet facilities house the best showers we have ever come across on a site, no timers, hot water and plenty of room in the cubicles. Very very clean also. A pleasure to use
There was some upgrading work going on at the time. W we were warned about it but disruption was kept to a minimum, but can only be a positive measure to improve what is already a five start site.
On the downside though, just a few suggestions if the management read this. The access gate when we were leaving was a little tricky to handle it was easier and safer to get out of the car to use the key code. No problem when just in the car but with the van on the back it was a bit of a problem. The water pipes froze on several occasions during our stay and whilst we took precautions for our vans water supply, the main stand pipes froze very quickly. We were never without water but an stand pipe on the toilet block would have given us somewhere to refill rather than risking waiting all day for the taps to thaw.
We paid for wifi Internet as well, signal was very weak where we were pitched, I would suggest trying the signal in your van first before you pay for a wifi card.
Tv reception on free view was excellent, never bothered with satellite but only certain pitches will be able to recieve due to the height of the surrounding trees
The local area is very nice, a nice fish and chip shop in Meriden. The best I have had for a long time. We visited Solihull and warwick whilst there and both very nice, although not geared well for tourists at this time of year. Coventry was really dull, we were really expecting a nice city but fealt rather a depressing place.
On the whole though the site was excellent, the area very pleasant. Would we go again?. Definitely!. No hesitation. It has certainly been an experience caravanning in winter and a pleasant one at that. We thought we would be cold in the van but not at all, so if you have never tried it give it a go.

We booked a two night stay at very short notice and the service received was very professional and friendly and informative. The site was spotlessly clean and the toilet/shower block is something you would expect in a 4* hotel. There is an outdoor covered area for washing up with drinking water taps through out the site.
The pitches are all hardstanding so no mess was bought into the van. I have two dogs and there was plenty of places to walk them. There is an information hut which was well stocked and also has a honesty library.
This is an adult site only so is the idea place if you want a relaxing time to chill out. We had a fantastic time and even though it is close to where I live it was nice to get away.
Thanks to all the staff for an enjoyable stay.

Have just returned home from 8 days at this wonderful peaceful site. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the facilities spotless. The heating in the shower block at this time of year was great. For those of you with dogs there is an excellent walk along the service road at the side of the Park. We did not come across any cars on this road - just rabbits, much to our dogs delight.
The honesty library was a God send as my husband was away at work a couple of days and it was a luxury and a delight to drink coffee and read in the glorious peaceful surroundings.
To allay any fears of noise, whilst we did see one or two planes in the distance, during the whole of our stay we did not hear any during the day or night. The only noise we encountered was a rather vociferous pheasant one night and an owl another, and the click of golfers playing a round on the course just adjacent to the site during the day.
This site is also within easy travelling distance of some lovely country parks and Coventry is only a shortish bus ride from almost outside the site. You can also get to Birmingham from the station in Hampton in Arden just up the road.

We had a very pleasant overnight stay at Somers Wood after attending a function in Coventry. The site is easy to find and the layout is delightful. It reminded us of a small scale Forestry Commission venue with all the trees surrounding the site and the colours of the leaves at this time of year were particularly stunning.
We received a warm welcome at reception and everything was perfectly explained. An added bonus at this site is that you are able to use the facilities at the golf club and have a meal there. There is also a great little information hut with details of both Chinese and Indian restaurants that will deliver to site along with local interest leaflets.
The site is beautifully peaceful because of its adult’s only status and feels very relaxed. We had our dog with us and the site was very dog friendly with a lovely walk through the back gate which leads to a public footpath where we could let her run free off the lead.
There is an outdoor covered area for washing up and the toilet block was absolutely spotless. The showers were a proper size with a glass screen not a curtain. The toilet block was a very high standard with nice touches like hand cream by the sinks which gave them a very four star feel.
The site feels very secure with its entry gate system. As we only had an overnight stay we didn’t venture very far from site so cannot comment on the local attractions but would definitely consider returning for a longer visit. T
here were 2 downsides to this site one being the lack of recycling facilities and two being the motorhome waste point. There was a high kerb around the waste drain that makes it impossible to drive up to and empty your tank. You will need either a hose extension or a waste warrior which kind of defeats the object. We observed a few fellow motorhomer’s attempting to empty and giving up in frustration!
One other thing that I am surprised has not been mentioned on any other reviews is the amount and level of aircraft noise presumably from Birmingham Airport. I think this may vary depending on what runway they are using on any particular day but we woken a few times in the night wondering if we had parked at the end of the runway in error … should’ve gone to Specsavers!
None of this would put us off returning …. It really is a lovely site.

Our first night away in our first ever camper van. Absolutely loved everything about it! Site amazing, made very welcome by Angela & Marc.
Facilities immaculate, and such a relaxing setting. Nice walk into Meriden (about twenty minutes) for a quick pint, then back for a relaxing bite to eat under the Pine trees.
Easy access to site, and hardstanding pitches well serviced. All dogs have to be kept on a lead, which is fine with us.
Our labradoodle had a great time! Can't wait to go back there!

A lovely Adult Only Site, Set in Lovely Forest Surroundings. The Pitches are all large with Hardstandings and grassed areas. Our TT, Awning and car all fitted on the Hardstanding leaving the dog to have his own personal lawn to lie on (tethered obviously).
Facilities are first class. The Showers are proper cubicles (not shower curtains) and it was always clean. Staff are very friendly and the Dog walk is a disused road just outside of the Site.
The Site backs onto a lovely Golf Course which is very welcoming for visitors. The Course bar provides good food at reasonable prices.
Meridan (Centre of England) is small but Quaint. The Bulls Head pub is very nice and they allow dogs in the Bar area.
For the Golfer, this is a great Site with 2 Clubs within half a mile. For those who just want a peaceful break. This is perfect.
I would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for a break away from the kids.

We visited Somers Wood for a long weekend with our folding camper and it is indeed a lovely site. It is quiet and serene - easy when it is for adults only. The facilities were lovely, clean, warm, quiet and lots of hot water.
It is also a fabulous area to visit. We had a great afternoon at the Bosworth Battlefield visitor centre and the choice of local country houses is mind blowing! Baddesley Clinton and Coughton Court are not to be missed.
It is definitely an area we would go back to again and again given the chance. Unfortunately we will not be child free every time so Somers Wood cannot be our full time home from home - shame.

Spotless site, very helpful friendly owners, excellent location and dogs welcome. Good walk via a gate on the site. Hardstanding good sized pitches with plenty of space between.
The shower block is better than some 4 star hotels with attention to detail, everything you need and absolutely spotless.
The location is lovely, next to the golf club and nature reserve. Stayed twice now when following our son playing cricket nearby.
Lovely walks, next to golf club which is open to all for golf and food.
We will be back when in area again!

We have been doing a lot of travelling round the country this year and have visited many of the tranquil parks and adult only.
We chose this particular park as it was mid England on our way home from Yorkshire.
The park resembled a forestry commission site with tall trees and shaded areas the pitches are a good size with hardstanding the park is adjacent to a golf club and fishing lakes all eight of them which are beautiful to walk round
It was hard to imagine we were so close to built up areas like Birmingham and Coventry.
A quiet peaceful site with attentive wardens
The facilities were not bad but! the showers have only 1 drain in the middle between the 2 shower cubicles unfortunately if you were unlucky to be in the second shower you got all the water from the first shower a
Directions and approach very good no narrow lanes, would we return, yes if in area, would we recommend the park yes.

The best park we visited on our holiday during March and April. A wonderful welcome, and a very helpful owner with assistance for our electric hookup.
Beautiful surroundings, peaceful and picturesque. Shower facilities the best in the country, plenty of hot water, heated bathroom, privacy, places to hang things, hairdryers. Just lovely !
We found it very convenient for the NEC where we were heading for an exhibition, and close to plenty of other places of interest.
Definitely recommend Somers Wood if you want to experience the way a caravan park should be.
