We went to Somers Wood August 9th.  Angela couldn't have been more helpful.  We had a lovely weekend the weather helped as it was a sunny weekend.  The shower is on a timer but is not a problem, The shower block was clean and tidy the whole weekend. The site was nearly full and I never had any queing problems.
The couples we met on the site were extremely friendly and as it was only our third time out in the van, we enjoyed ourselves and we are now thinking of getting a newer van and going away a lot more often.
I would definitely go back to Somers Wood again and after talking to other couples Angela seems to have a lot of regulars who go there all the time.

I was a bit worried about the dogs and most people seemed to have one or sometimes two, but I didn't hear any dogs barking away in the day or night, which I must admit was a blessing.
Two golf courses near by and when we visit next time Hubby will try the driving range.  Don't go to Golf course next door for drink after 9.00 as it seems to shut early, but if there are no customers I expect its not worth staying open, which was our only complaint the whole weekend.  We went out in the car to explore and found some lovely little villages very picturesque all in all a good weekend.

We would like to thank Ang, Marc and all the staff at Somers Wood for another excellent weekend away. We went 2 weekends on the trot and love every minute we are there, we only live 10 miles away but could be a million miles away when we arrive at the site. As always everyone is so friendly and helpful, the other caravanners are  friendly and we have made some great aqauaintances and hopefully friends. We have three dogs, 2 rotti's and a staffi which to Ang and Marc isnt a problem unlike some sites, they love the long peaceful dog walk and like us relax and chill out when we are there. We will be going back very soon for another chill weekend and hopefully a chill week away to. Keep up the good work.

We stayed whilst visiting a show at the Ricoh Arena. Lovely site, spotless facilities, friendly staff and so peaceful (adults only). Our dog loved it - mile long private road runs outside the park and along the golf course so dogs can run free there. Lots of wildlife to spot and birds to watch. Central location meant we got away from it all without travelling for hours. We will be back.

We were amazed and delighted to find this site when we stayed for a week in July.

The location is ideal , only minutes from the major motorways, but set in the heart of the country with superb walks.

The individual pitches are spacious, and the site staff extremely welcoming, without the regimentation associated with many sites these days.

Facilities are spotless, and the rates we found to be extremely reasonable.

It's certainly top of our list next time we are in the Midlands.

Just to really echo all the other reviews. Pleasant well maintained site with hard standing pitches. Toilet was central but with only two showers in the block, it could be a long wait if the site was busy (which it apparently does get at the weekends). One small gripe was the showers had a push button timed affair. I know they are free and I can fully understand the reason behind these, but at 25 seconds per push its very frustrating and for an adult only site is it really necessary?
I also did not like that your car had to be placed in front of your van parallel to the road, even with our (small van) pushed as far back as possible my car was very close to the road. It would not be the same for all pitches but it was unnecessarysecurity is also something, there is a locked gate that is operated by a push button, but the area is easily assessable by anyone from the road going to the nearby golf course, though I do stress we never had any such problems, but worth a mention none the less.
Local shops are expensive and not in the least reasonably priced, though an Asda and Tesco are about 30 minutes drive away on outskirts of Coventry (in same retail park just off Junction 2 M6)We stayed for the 3 nights and did say when we arrived might stay for another night, when we did ask to stay we got told that our pitch had been reserved for the following night, which was somewhat mercenary since we had mentioned this at the point of arrival and they had not even asked us if we would stay, nor had they bothered to actually use any of the other rather numerous empty pitches about a third by then had been taken. Though to be fair the owners had allowed us to leave later (20.00hrs) than the normal mid-day departureOn the whole its a quite peaceful well maintained site with pleasant quite surroundings, nice walks and if you wished you could also use the nearby restaurant.
Clean toilets and ample water and waste points with hard standing pitches. I would go back but it would not be my first choice.not for any particular reason, just my own personnel choice

Very nice well kept site, friendly staff, good size pitches. Good location, good toilet/shower block, dish washing facilities. Very relaxing, good bird spotting site, adults only, dog walk. 2 golf courses near by (actually 1 across the lane) Local town of Meriden within 1 mile with well stocked shops and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again

Just returned from a two day break at this lovely site. The weather was not too kind to us but the warm welcome from Angela and the excellent facilities more than made up for it! A peaceful woodland setting which is dog friendly and abounds with wild birds. Close to the village with lots to do and see within a short drive. We have already booked another week!

The directions to the site were spot on. We arrived just after dark, and although the office was open, there was no one there, but Hubby used the phone and they were there within a couple of minutes. They helped us sort out a fresh gas bottle and gave us a map of where our pitch was, although the one way system made that really easy to find. The pitch was a fair size, although there were others which were larger. Ours had been encroached on by a caravan on the next pitch that had parked askew, so if we'd wanted to have our awning out, it would have literally touched the back of their caravan which was on the grass area of our pitch.

The site itself was perfectly clean, very well laid out, and just like being in the middle of a wood. The only noise was the birds twittering. It was so nice not to have a noisy clubhouse or children running about (we don't hate children - we have 6 of our own, we just wanted a break from them). No shop but not a problem as the village was not far away if we'd needed anything.

Toilets were in the centre of the park. No actual disabled toilet/shower facilities, but they did have hand rails in one cubicle and a stool in one shower. However, if you are wheelchair bound this may cause a problem. Toilets were spotless and really nice and warm. Showers were hot. Will definitely be going back again. Overall rating 9.5/10

I haven't actually visited the site itself, but I live locally so thought I'd offer insight into the area. Hope this is OK.

If you're into golf, there's two courses within walking distance, more within a few minutes drive.

For eating out, good places include The Bull in Meriden, The Bear Inn at Berkswell and Cafe Tamarinds in Balsall Common. There's a range of takaways in Balsall Common, but for chinese food I'd recommend driving 5 minutes to the takeaway on Broad Lane in Eastern Green (Coventry).

If you're into trying local produce, Berkswell has it's own cheese (available in Berkswell Village Stores), and the traditional breeds butcher on Back Lane (between Meriden/Berkswell) produces the most wonderful dry cured bacon.

 April 2005
went to this site for the second time in three years. It is a lovely, quiet, clean and peaceful site set in a wood. Being an adult only site I could not believe how quiet it was. Not knowing anything about bird watching, we found ourselves sitting outside the van listening and looking at the birds all the time.

There are 48 all hardstanding and electric pitches. there are male and female toilet blocks with 2 clean and hot showers. There is a golf club 200 yards away you are allowed to use for meals and drinks. The village of Meriden is 15 mins walk along a main road that has a good footpath. There are 3 pubs a chip shop and a few other shops on the village green.

There is a good dog walk along the side of the site. Harry loved it. A realy nice site, yes, but at £16 a night all year round, a little bit pricy. 4 stars from me. 4 stars from Harry the dog
