Writing this while we are still here! Fantastic site. Private family run site. Very friendly and immaculate.

Ticks every box for us and we will definitely be returning.

We visited this site in May of last year and found this to be a wonderful site to be on. The grounds were very tidy the washrooms and toilets immaculate. We are at the moment trying to work some dates out so that we can return. It is a site you could tell you friends about, its brilliant for us as from storage to site was 40 mins. Ok there is very little in Meriden itself but its not far to travel for places of interest. Have read other reviews and the only one if it was anything to moan about which it isnt its the aircraft from Birmingham Airport. It didn't bother us.

This was our second visit to Somers Wood and the plus points are that it is easy to get to from the motorway, has good facilities and they are clean on the whole and the pitches are a mixture of hard standing & grass and good size. EHU only, apparently there are some serviced pitches but only a couple.

Yes you hear a slight hum of traffic and of aircraft going to Birmingham airport but that aside our visit was not the peaceful and quiet experience we had last time. Out of their control obviously, but there was a very loud party with loud live music, I assume coming from the golf club from 4:00 Saturday afternoon until midnight.

As ever there were a lot of vans with dogs which I don't have a problem with unless the owners don't obey the park rules or have very noisy dogs. Sadly we had that situation. One couple in a motor home didn't seem to bat an eyelid when their large dog with a very loud bark kept barking and then did so at 6:00am on two morning on and on.

Another couple in a caravan seemed to think the rules about keeping their dog on a lead at all times didn't apply to them. It was another large dog who wandered. It went over to the pitch next to it and barked at the couple there who looked quite frightened. Even then they didn't put it on a lead, the woman owner just said he's saying hello. She had such a loud voice everything she said carried across the park, especially when she decided to have a conversation with a caravan 4 pitches away and just sat on her pitch shouting. Later on her dog went to the back of the next pitch again and poohed which the owners clearly saw. Did the owners do anything? No! Both incidents were reported but nothing was done. In addition the wardens were around the park by these people's pitch and clearly saw the dog off the lead and said nothing. We were opposite them and didn't like it at all.

Something had changed on this site since the last time we visited as there seemed to be a lack of care from the wardens about the important site rules and it wasn't unkempt but just not as tidy as last time.

We visited Stratford on Avon & I would recommend if you want to do that go to the Park & Ride. We went to Meriden for the Co-op and it has a spa too. However that's really it. The chippy is ok. Sad to see the ancient cross, minus the cross, marking the exact middle of England looks so tatty. We had a Chinese Takeaway ordered from the menu recommended on the welcome sheet and delivered. Don't be tempted it really wasn't a good one and the next day both hubby & I had upset tummies.

This site has always been clear that you must not put a wheel of any vehicle on the grass, fair enough, but they have also installed some poles to press home the point. On a couple of the pitches those poles prevent reversing in. In fact if you don't have a motor mover you'd have to unhitch the van and push.

All in all we had an ok stay but it felt like we had come to different place than last time which is a shame as it was in our top 5 sites. Would we go again? Maybe if there was something on at the NEC but I doubt for any other reason. I think for £26 per night it's value for money has dropped.

Lovely friendly site. Large pitches. Easy access to local attractions. Short walk to village which has various useful shops. Lots of lovely little touches around the site to make your stay more enjoyable.

We stayed here for visiting the NEC and have done for the last two years, it's so convenient as it's only 5 minutes drive away. We have also walked into Meriden which has a Spar and a nice pub which is probably about a mile to walk. The campsite is a really good site the staff are very friendly and helpful as we have arrived late before now but they give the gate code and leave all your pitch details for you on the notice board outside reception. The facilities are very good with loads of hot water in the heated shower / toilet block

When visiting the NEC at top of slip road keep left signposted NEC don't slip onto A45 follow back roads into NEC much quieter and easier come back the same way via East Way

Site was very easy to find and easy access. Security barrier for entry and exit made the site very secure. We received a very warm welcome from the warden who gave us the information we needed and let us go and get pitched up. Hardstanding pitch, fairly level. The site is surrounded by trees (hence the name I guess)!

2 showers in the mens toilets and 4 in the ladies. Neither of us had to wait for a shower but the site was quiet with it being a Winter visit. Toilets were always clean and fairly warm. Proper shower rather than push button which is always good. Decent standard but could do with a freshen up. Hand dryer in the ladies was very intermittent which was annoying.

Great location, close to the lovely town on Solihull and motorway access. We visited the Bulls Head in Meriden which was dog friendly and decent enough grub. Not much in Meriden itself apart from a couple of pubs, fish & chip shop, hairdressers and a Spar.

Wifi not included in the rate but 1 dog is free so not too bad. We will definitely return.

Just come back from 4 nights. Took our Bailey out for the first time so chose a site not too far from home. But we could have been a million miles from home !. Arrived after hours and as promised all our pitch information was left on a board at reception. Very self explanatory. Set up the van. Water supplies all round the small but beautiful site. Decided to attempt the awning for first time. Was going ok but still got offered help from other campers. Now toilets. What can I say. I have never seen such wonderfully camping toilet block ever. Light bright clean modern with music piped in. Everyone I saw in there mopped the shower floor when finished. That's how it made you feel. Site is so quiet and the woodland setting brings squirrels and birds in all day long to just sit and enjoy. Most relaxing 4 days iv had for years. WELL DONE Marc and Angela.

I have just spent three days at this dream of a caravan site set in a Woodlands location. Peace and tranquillity It was so quiet that even the birds became noisy. This was our very first visit to this site and I cannot think of anything really that I could complain about. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Everybody on the site was friendly. We were entertained by a baby squirrel visiting the bird table a woodpecker nut hatch a robin. Ok I've just had a thought, its a moan, the satellite needs sorting out the picture constantly breaking up. Now would I go again I certainly would and recommend to others

We spent thee nights over the may day bank holiday on this lovely site. We received a warm welcome at reception and were given all relevant information and directed to our pitch.

The facilities were always spotless and although the site was nearly full, never had to queue.

The dog walk was good and there are pavements to walk down into Meriden. We visited the Bulls Head pub which allows dogs in the bar for an excellent sunday lunch.

The site is quiet despite the occasional flight overhead and we did not hear any road noise. There is lots of wildlife around and woodland nearby. Some pitches could be in the shade when trees in full leaf.

We loved the site and will definitely be returning.

First time here and came highly recommended. We thought it was a lovely site. Good things: Very easy to get to not far from main road and motorway but not much traffic noise at all. Facilities were sparkling clean all the time. Decent loos & showers. Nice pitches, well looked after. Meridian is close nice tiny place good tea room & nice enough butchers. Took the obligatory photo at the geographical heart of England. Lovely setting for the site, pretty & I am sure when all the leaves are out it will be like being in a forest dale. Friendly owner/warden.

Things that niggled; Bins are a long walk away if you are at the bottom of the site. Motorhome top up/ dump out area is not off the road so if a motorhome is busy then you have to wait. We had to wait 10 mins on arrival behind one until we got to our pitch. Toilet floor when mopped was slippy & I had walking trainers on. No seat in shower & if like me that makes drying & dressing hard bit of a shame.

But overall a lovely site and we'll be back.
