I've just returned from an Easter break at this fantastic site. I looked at the review's before hand and thought they were too good to be true but they were not. On arrival we found our van was too large for our pitch but the staff quickly moved us to a larger pitch, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The showers are out of this world, but this is were I find the the only problem, when the site is full, so are the showers and with there only being two you have to wait but it's worth the wait. If you feel like spoiling yourself go to the bulls head in meriden the meals are fantastic, it's around a 20 minute walk, the golf course opposite do nice bar meals, they also have a nice restaurant. All in all what a lovely site strongly recommend it. Will definitely be returning.

What a lovely campsite, and the staff are first class and welcoming. Stopped there twice now and will go back again & again. The toilet block is spotless, no kids running about wild and in a lovely wood setting. Stoneleigh golf club and fishing lake is next door, and there is some nice places to eat & drink near bye. There is a closed lane for the dog walk so its safe to let the dog off the lead.

We have just returned from a night away at this site. I would recommend it for anyone who wants a peaceful location. The site is kept in very good order, we were on a recently done pitch that was superb. The facilities are the cleanest we have encountered! t There are all sorts of birds to be seen around the site and lovely relaxing bird song; security is good and owners very welcoming. We hope to return often.

Used the site for an overnight stop on the way back to Cumbria from France. Very friendly welcome and very accommodating even though we were only staying for 1 night. Had the choice of available pitches, all of decent size. Would agree with all the previous positive comments and would happily use the site again either overnight or to stay for longer.

Absolutely excellent site. The owners and their assistants couldn't do enough for us. They have a laundry service £6 for a load and that's washed and dried. Fantastic! The toilets were immaculate Cleaned regularly and well maintained. 5 mins walk to the Golf club where we had a lovely bar meal and it's reasonably priced. 15 mins stroll into the village where there are the local shops and two pubs / hotels. Great dog walks across to the fishing lakes and down into the village. There's another village only 3.5 miles away that has more shops but to be honest Meriden has everything you would need. We were only booked for 4 nights and moving to another site in Stratford but decided just to stay at Somers Wood for 8 nights. We were on pitch 20 great location good size but a bit far away from the toilet. If we go back I would book pitch 14 it's a good flat pitch and right handy for the toilet block.
I would recommend this site and we will certainly be returning.

A wonderful site. Very friendly and efficient wardens. The site filled up quite quickly on the Saturday but this did not cause any problems with the on site facilities.
Very clean and efficient toilet/shower block which is located in the centre of the site. There is satellite reception capability if you have your own equipment and on a pitch where there is line of site over the trees. (Ask at reception when booking or arriving for a pitch where you can receive a satellite signal and they will do their best to accommodate you). Wi-fi access is now also available (depending where you are located on the campsite)at a small cost (I paid £8 for a 3 day surf card and the connection was very good - through Car Web). There is a good dog walk adjacent to the campsite although it is tarmac for most of the length of it. Other nearby facilities have already been mentioned but be aware that the local Spar shop and the Co-op (Late Shop) down in Meriden do not open until 0800 hours on the Saturday! There is also a chemist in Meriden as well.
We have already booked for another weekend and will be booking more weekends there this year.

Had a fantastic week at this site. Please note that the owners have now installed a new security gate which requires a number code which is changed very regularly.
The site is clean and tidy. The owners seem to have managed to get the right balance of efficiently running the site, whilst creating a very relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the site.

Angela is to be commended for the welcome and customer care she gives here.
There is an immaculate shower block with larger than average cubicles which include a private dressing area, I found the timer on the shower irritating as you had to press it every 20 seconds, but the water pressure was good and the water was hot.
Our pitch was adequate, and as we were there for the four nights of the caravan show at the NEC the site was naturally full.
It seems a popular site with dog owners and there is a nice woodland walk where they can take them to have some freedom in the woods.
Meriden itself has a wonderful fish and chip shop which I really recommend after a full day at the NEC. There is also a small general store/off licence there with parking outside.
I really like this site, but feel I owe it to other members reading this to mention that the only means of security was a push-button gate that ANYONE could open.
I would definitely go here again, but only when the security has been updated.

Returning South after a tour of Scotland, we stopped off at Sommers Wood unexpectedly due to a family bereavement, and Angela was the most accommodating and empathetic person I wanted to meet on that particular day. The on-site facilities were excellent, the toilets spotless! The surroundings were very tranquil and peaceful. Just what I needed! We popped out for dinner in the evening to The Bull in Meriden; there is one word for it, excellent! Please try Sommers Wood, you will love it!

This site is fab we have now made it a regular monthly retreat and are staying for a week in September. Angela and Marc are lovely, the site is a little piece of heaven quiet, and very clean and everyone so friendly. We would quite happily live there and our dogs are made to feel welcome, we have Rottweilers who I must admit are experienced Caravanners, they are the topic of conversation because they are so good. All i can say is heaven does exist and this is one of if not the best site I have stayed at.
