August 2004 Booked at last minute for August bank holiday (non electric camping). Nice level pitch with a great view. Small indoor pool which was off limits to children between 10-11 every morning. After that, got very busy. Small basic shop, clean showers and toilets, nice lounge bar. The kids loved the play area. Would definitely go again.

August 2004 This site is double edged. Staff are polite and friendly, yet, as the earlier reviewer states, they don't half love to pack them in! Sardines! There are also varied facilities, swimming pool is small, but appreciated - especially the kiddie pool; the bar is good, but the shop, if you can call it that, is awful, barely stocked at all. Do not believe the picture on the site - it's tiny and has barely anything in it, at least it didn't for our week and a half! They also seemed to introduce more and more rules as the holiday went on. Showers and toilet blocks are ok, but could do with being cleaned more regularly in the upper field. If you have a powered pitch beware - when the site is running at high capacity the generator can't quite keep up and fluctuations are frequent - this may affect fridges etc!
It's very central for Cheddar, Wells etc and most places in Somerset are within easy reach.
In short, not bad, but could do better with what they have, especially the shop!

August 2004 This is a lovely site the club house and swimming pool are a little small but this makes for a more friendly site. The toilets and everywhere was very clean, there are hot showers and washing up sinks with free hot water. The view from the over flow field is incredible you can see Glastonbury tor while sitting drinking your scrumpy and eating your chedder cheese or your hand made sweets. There is so much to do in the area I would recomend Chedder Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Longleat and the Fleet Air Museum at Ilchester near Yeovil. There is a small chest freezer for your ice packs which was free but in peak times it can get over filled. We had a lovely time due to Dave and Sue's hard work and would not hesitate to go back again.

August 2004 Good site in a great spot. great for children, good clubhouse, playarea. Stay in the second field away from the clubhouse and play area (2 min walk). A lot of wasps but who can help that. Toilet blocks need updating but ok. Would return.

July 24th - July 31st 2004 (incl) The campsite is exceptionally clean and tidy, with toilets, showers etc. Being thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. There is some form of entertainment each evening throughout the summer period. Tho' this can be an incumberance for tent campers with small children as the club room is central to the tent area and is very loud until turned 11.00 pm. (If you have children this is not a good idea.) Our main worry, however, was the closeness of the pitches. I am sure that there are laws on space between pitches and this site must break them all in an effort to pack everybody in. We hardly slept on any one night in the fear that if just one unit should catch fire, then the whole lot would go up before anybody had a chance to get out. Two couples camping near us were almost at blows with each other about the noise from each others t.v. Not a relaxing site regardless of the staff doing their best to please.

June 2004 We stopped for one night on the way back from Cornwall to Hertfordshire and arrived about 3pm. Very nice welcome form reception who explained where all was on the site and where our pitch was.
When we got to out pitch though, it was rather small, we have a 21 foot caravan and there simply was not enough space to reverse the van into the pitch, which meant we had to unhitch - on a slope - and manouver by hand the van into the pitch. There was barely room to get the car in next to the van let alone an awning and a car!
If we gone into the other section - further away from the playarea then the pitches were larger over there.
If you are camping then I suggest you ask to go in the field next to the cavaran bit (I think it belongs to the site), massive field with tons of room and you get the sun till late in the day.
The views of the Mendip hills are great and Cheddar Gorge is 5 - 10 mins away in the car.
Didn't use the indoor swimming pool, the bar or the shop as we were there just the one night. The toilets were clean and tidy and didn't use the showers.
The playpark was good but on a busy weekend there was very little space for the kiddies to kick a ball around or play badminton etc.
Not a bad site and would visit again in the campervan or tent and choose a different pitch or the camping field.

May/June 2004 Well will start in thanking the site owners and staff for being so helpful, this camp is really nice and easy to find close to Cheddar and Wells, great for touring Somerset. The food on this site is topstuff and the owners Dave and Sue do like to join in the fun. I've just returned home after a week there and have already booked again for August Bank which is filling up already so if you want to see the famous mart conner and the carrot crunchers book now to avoid disapointment and you might get to see the lovely new part-time bingo caller.. naughty neil.. Lets hope all the people I've met are back again cos this is one lovely site and well worth a visit and if you do go say hello to the lovely Annie in rep, bar, ass. manager because with Sue she don't stop work to make people happy.. so see you there soon ...

june 2003 This campsite is rather on the small side and although the facilities were great (good swimming poool, excellent showers and toilets ) they certainly like to cram as many people in as they can. You have to pitch where they tell you, which in our case was a tiny corner of grass hemmed in between two caravans! If you prefer the more relaxed style of campsite with less facilities but more character then this isnt the place for you. However, being so close to everything does have its advantages - its never far to walk if you need to visit the toilet in the middle of the night! I visted this site for a weekend with 2 friends - 1 male and one female and the amount of questions we had to answer in order to secure a booking was ridiculous. I can understand why they like to make sure there are no large groups of young people or same sex groups but in all honesty, although we are all in our 20's, we probably made the least noise on the site!! The list of rules was also on the long side...it was like being back at school! Because you are so close to everyone else noise can be a problem....as was the electric generator next to the top field....the humming drove us crazy at night. We found the site good value though and the takeaway food was really yummy...and cheap! Its in an excellent location for exploring Chedder and the Mendips...and a great place to try some local cider...just dont expect to wake up with a clear head the next morning!!

Summer 2001 We had a great time at Bucklegrove, the site is quite small, but has a nice little clubhouse, an indoor swimming pool, and had a fish & chip wagon outside. Watch out for the scrumpy...It's cheap, but like rocket fuel!!
