This was our second visit to Bucklegrove and we would definitely visit again. The staff are friendly and helpful and even though there were a lot more campers on the site this time due to the Bank Holiday, this didn't stop the toilets/showers being cleaned or deter the staff from being attentive. The toilet/shower facilities could do with updating, but they are clean and not too far from where we were pitched.
The site is in a beautiful location with stunning views and close to Cheddar itself, which is a lovely town and well worth a visit.
We like the idea of the pitches with hedges and even though some reviews state that the pitches are small, we found it ample for the caravan and awning as we didn't need room for anything else.
The entertainment was good, but unfortunately, the clubhouse didn't have enough table/chairs for the amount of people on the site, so we had to sit outside. We would recommend you get there early to get a seat during main season periods.
Overall, we would recommend this site due to location and friendliness and will be returning in future.

Disappointed despite other good reviews. The field we were placed on (not Strawberry), the pitches were too close to each other and were not strimmed round the edges. The shower block was terrible, with the water being tepid and it even ran out completely twice in the three days we were there. It is time they updated this field's shower block and spaced out the pitches too.
The staff were very friendly and efficient. The clubhouse entertainment was good too.
There is not an actual dog walking field attached to the site but you can find some lovely walks up and around the surrounding lanes.
Not good for cycling as the surrounding roads are too narrow and treacherous.

This was my families 4th visit in the last 3-4 years. We have previously stayed in a Conway Camargue trailer tent, a normal 6 man tent, 2 statics on site and this time in our Conway Cruiser folding camper. On this occasion we stayed next to my inlaws in their Pennine Pulman folding camper.
We had serviced grass pitches close to the amenities in the main field. The weather we had during our stay was appalling with continuous rain and flooding in the local area. We missed a foot of snow by 2 days! The ground here is usually good but was saturated to such an extent it resembled nearby Glastonbury. We woke up one morning to discover that staff had placed a large amount of felt down on the ground from the road to our units doors! Thank you very much!
Despite the weather, the site was excellent as usual. We used the pool a couple of times and the bar was open for 4-5 nights and we used this for food, drink and Halloween entertainment which was great for the kids. The showerblocks are fine and nice and clean. I cant fault the site or the staff and cant blame anyone for the geology of the land or the weather! We shall return!

Spent 5 nights at this site early August in the grove field.
We arrived slightly early but were allowed on and the welcome was very friendly. The pitch was slightly muddy but we arrived in bad weather and it had rained all the week before.
The Grove has a lot of SP pitches on it so the small dated but very clean shower block was never busy. There is a newer block near to the other field and entrance that is more up to date.
On site the indoor pool was never busy and we went in there most afternoons. The park was clean and tidy and ideal for my daughter to meet friends when we went to the bar. The bar for a campsite was one of the cheapest we had been too. No raised prices and the kids drinks were from around 50p. The food was fine and not too expensive.
The sight is spaced between Wells and Cheddar with super markets at both. Lots of pubs around and a good base for sight seeing. Western supermare is around 20 mins, Wells and cheddar 5 mins, wookey hole is just as close by too. If you are visiting Wookey or the caves at Cheddar the reception has some money off vouchers that make the visit cheaper. We saved £11 for our visit to Wookey as it is rather expensive.
To improve it slightly I'd say more bins around the site, and may be a small play area in the grove field.
Best point for me no gangs of teenagers hanging around and very quiet.
All in all a very nice site and another one to tick off our list.

Stayed here for 2 nights in field which runs along side the site. Field has a slight slope. Fantastic views. Its a compact and tidy site. Pool, Bar and play area situated in the middle. Bar opens at 5pm food is served quickly.
Toilets/showers are clean and spacious.
The staff are excellent. From booking in right through to ordering last orders they are cheerful and helpful. A particular thank you to female member of bar staff (I'm useless with names) who went out of her way to get some milk for my son's bedtime bottle.
Also, several minutes after ordering our meals I realised I had forgotten one, same staff member took my order straight through - even though it was a busy spell - so we would have all meals at same time.
Early evening entertainment was very much for the kids, my kids; 10 7 and 18 months really enjoyed the fun.
I would definitely stay on this site again if in the area.
Cheddar is a few minutes down the road (by car) and wells a few minutes in other direction - both worth a visit.

We have just returned from our second stay at this wonderful campsite we stayed in July and then again took friends to the site in august it is by far the friendliest park we have ever chosen
The only thing I would say to make this site perfect would be for a toilet block to be built just for the bar as at the moment the swimming pool is cleared at 6pm on the dot and cleaned out so when the bar needs the toilets you walk right through the swimming pool area to use them which is such a shame as it means hurrying the children back from one of the available days out just to swim for ten minutes (if you want a happy child!)
The food is very good and the facilities are small by other campsite standards but you never feel overcrowded so is perfect the bigger sites forget who you are but this site makes everyone feel important I will not hesitate to use and recommend this site again and again and neither will my friends the only reason I would not recommend this site is that I would like to keep this to myself as it is such a little gem thank you to all the staff and please do not change

This excellent campsite with friendly staff is a great place to stay when in this area, close to Cheddar gorge, wookey hole and not far from weston super mare with its famous pier, not to mention the on site pool and evening bar with entertainment, I especially recommend the great fun Bucklegrove bingo. There are some lovely walks around the surrounding hills which are good for dog walks and wonderful views across the countryside. My only Criticism is the toilet blocks could do with modernising and enlarging.0

Just sat down on our return from a wonderful week at this site. After a long journey and a later than expected arrival the friendly staff gave us advice on supermarkets pubs and takeaways.
Used the on site pub for a couple of meals which were great (had to use takeaway option as dogs are not allowed on field where the pub is located). Good food and entertainment with plenty for the kids to do.
Well kept pool with adult only session. Toilets and showers great, gallons of hot water and always clean. Found pitch size to be quite tight (but we do have a rather large tent and awning) and pitched diagonally on raised level site.
Visited Longleat and survived the monkeys(free kennels available). Brean Sands were the beach car park is 'the beach' beautiful and quiet and dog friendly with only a couple of well run cafes and a beach shop.
Cheddar Gorge a must when your here as its a 10 minute drive (Cheddar and Longleat ticket available). Visited The Hillside Cottage at cheddar for refreshment and is a must if you enjoy the Basil Fawlty approach to customer service.
To be short, if you want a campsite in this area, look no further.

Having just returned from a lovely weekend in Cheddar we thought we should leave a review, as we find the reviews so helpful from everyone else.
So we went for our first ever camping trip, we decided upon Bucklegrove as the facilities looked great on the web and having rang a number of other sites, the staff here at Bucklegrove we much more friendly and welcoming.
We went on a very wet weekend having ignored the met office severe weather warning and decided it was make or break time. We arrived late on the Friday evening after travelling for a number of hours, and after struggling to find our pitch the friendly staff came and showed us to where we needed to be and the facilities on the site.
The rain had caused the field to become very wet and the staff even helped push the car when I managed to get it stuck. The staff couldn’t have been better, even putting sawdust down on the grass to prevent everywhere becoming too muddy (where the car got stuck). The showers were excellent and the facilities kept clean and tidy. Unfortunately we didn’t get time to use the pool, but it looked great from the outside.
Overall a fantastic place with really friendly local people, a great market in (wells) and cheddar gorge just down the road, even the people in Cheddar gorge were friendly, dogs are allowed in all the shops and caves, even on the tour bus. For our first camping trip it has been better than we had hoped for and thank the on site team very much for the hospitality.
We will be sure to return, fingers crossed for hot weather!
(p. S) in case of rain, check out their wooden log cabin…they look seriously nice!

We had given up trying to take our grandchildren camping due to the dreadful weather until we came across the wonderful 'camping cabins' at the last minute at this lovely campsite. The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly and all the staff keep the shared facilities very clean and provide simple tasty food and drinks at reasonable prices. The pools are a real bonus in rainy weather and are big enough. The cabins are perfect, spacious, clean and very comfortable for 4 people with all the camping stuff but not wanting to struggle putting up the tent in this worst of summers!
