A friendly, small site with well marked out and spaced out pitches. It is in a great location for exploring North Somerset. Easy access to the main routes but far enough away from them to make sure the noise of traffic doesn't keep you awake.

Our pitch was on good, even ground and was separated from the neighbouring pitches by small trees. This gave privacy without cutting you off completely.

The whole site had a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The bar had entertainment on every evening and the children's play area was next door, so you were able to enjoy a drink whilst watching the children play.

The site security was excellent. Once you book in, you are given a pass key to open the security gate.

The shop was small and had limited stock, but it did have all the basics that you could need. There was also a small hut in the camping field that was stocked with leaflets and ideas for days out in the local area.

The swimming pool was clean but did not have a lifeguard on duty. There was also a small, shallow pool for the little ones which was fabulous with a toddler in tow.

The toilets and washing-up area were basic but clean and functional.

There is loads to do in North Somerset. We visited the caves at Wookey Hole, climbed Cheddar Gorge and visited the beautiful Wells. There is so much to see and do in the area that this was our second year in the area as we had not fitted everything in the first time around!

We made reservations for a pitch. Arrival date was determined, we did not know however when we would leave. We were free to choose a pitch from about 15 pitches available and where send away with a map of the site. Our chosen pitch however was already booked! We did not feel very comfortable staying on the pitch of somebody else, so we rearranged our plans and left 4 days early than planned. Not a great feeling of hospitality. Problem was a misunderstanding between to receptionists. The pool was only opened till 6 pm. The bar was only opened during the weekends. Being Dutch, we hoped to see the quarter final of the World Championship football between the Netherlands and Brazil on a Tuesday, with another Dutch family. Unfortunately, this was no reason to open up the pub, if only for watching television.

This campsite had two toilet blocks. A main toilet block at the entrance and a smaller one up hill. The main toilet block is cleaned every day, the smaller one every 3 days. At the back of the smaller toilet block is the chemical disposal, just beside an open sewer from the urinals. This open sewer gave a bad smell in the toilet block. Cleaning and this open sewer are two points of concern.

Besides these two points, it is a beautiful campsite with the Cheddar Gorge just a few miles away.

We have just returned from a week on this site. We went through a bag of pegs as the ground was solid and bent all our pegs. We requested 2 pitches together as we like to put the windbreak up between the two tents, we were placed on two pitches with a walk way in between for the style to the main road and dog walk area.

The toilets I think could have been kept a little cleaner, on two occasions the ladies ran out of soap and on another occasion, there was no soap no toilet roll, pooh on the toilet seat and floor, door lock broken, and in one of the toilets a window wasn't boarded like the others into the pot washing area.

We did think we had the best pitch on the site, as we were away from the main venue where even we could here the noise and when looking down onto the camp site, it was just cars everywhere.

We will not be going back to this site!

Our pitches were pre-booked and we were told all the pitches were level. This was not the case and we had to reposition our airbeds every day to try and find a comfortable sleeping position.

The shower block in the top field where we were sited was small and not particularly clean, there was only 2 showers and 3 toilets in each side for the entire field.

We were expected to clean the shower before and after use with a dirty old mop and a squeegee left propped against the wall.

The washing up area was constantly plagued with flies which had to be washed away before you could use the sinks.

On the plus side the site was perfectly positioned for visits to Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and surrounding area, with beautiful views.

A real shame not more attention had been paid to the shower area.

We had a lovely stay at this campsite during off peak time. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, letting you know places worth visiting and giving directions. The campsite is small and pleasant, with a lovely indoor pool, and a pool table. Showers and toilets are clean, but small, and I would imagine that they get busy peak season!

Peaceful, quiet, and very pleasant, would camp here again and recommend it to friends / family.

Just returned yesterday from a 2 week stay at this site. This was the first in out trailer tent and I have to say the site is fantastic. The whole site is very very clean and well looked after down to the landscaping, grass cutting etc to the cleanliness of the toilet blocks.

I must point out that contrary to another post, there are 2 separate washing up areas for those without a caravan. I can only presume the previous camper didn't find them. These were very clean with drying racks on the sinks

We stayed in the top right hand corner of the grove which is the top field. The pitch, as all appeared, very flat and terraced into the landscape to make them this way. Our trailer tent is large with a large awning. We had no trouble for space plus windbreaks and parking 2 vehicles.

The views over the mendips are spectacular. The bar is only open friday and saturdays when not in school holiday times but this didn't matter too much. I went to watch an England match in the bar and the range of drinks was excellent and the food, although I didn't try it looked good with plenty on a plate.

The swimming pool is very clean and tidy and was adequate for my 3 year old to splash about in. Its a basic pool but its open 10-6 and nobody else was in there.

There are facilities to freeze ice blocks which proved useful for us without a freezer.

The showers are free and have a continuous supply of hot water for as long as you want. Small charge for the bath and hair dryers, which are in all toilet blocks.

The staff are very nice and always chat to you. The site is barrier controlled for added security.

The shop is reasonably stocked for those things you forget but for bigger shops there is a good Budgens in Cheddar as well as a Tesco Express or there is a big Tesco in Wells. Both are no more than 10 minutes drive away.

Locally I cant recommend enough a pub called 'The Galleries Inn' in Cheddar. We went there for a Ploughmans lunch, Sunday lunch and the best Steak I have ever had. If you like steak you must go here!

You can get discounted tickets for Cheddar Gorge at reception with £3 of per person which is worth it. I would also recommend a visit to the fleet air arm museum at Yeovilton, best military museum ive been to and kids love it. (and big kids!)

I cant recommend this site enough. I can imagine it may get busier in school holidays but out of those times you wont be disappointed. If I go this way on holiday again, I will only be staying here.

Second stop in Somerset, originally booked at Cheddar Camp but it was very busy with only seriously sloping pitches left. The Rodney Stoke Camping and Caravan park was a lucky find, especially being a bank holiday weekend.

The site was very well kept and the pitches level. The toilet / shower facilities were found to be both clean and modern. The site doesn't have any other facilities and there's no where to wash up - people were using the sinks to do so - but being experienced campers we had a wash bowl etc with us and simply boiled up some water - no problem.

Location is great for exploring the Mendips. Didn't use the Inn but looked very nice. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

The site is still very clean, toilet blocks very clean. Showers etc. are all well maintained. playground area is just outside the bar so you can still see the kids when having a pint or two

You have cheddar one way from the site, Wells the other way, Priddy over the top and the Somerset levels in front of you. The site is run by the same family for the last 14 years and all are very friendly, no Mr Big in some office somewhere.

On Friday night we had a table top quiz and on Saturday night we had a disco. But on Monday night we had the Mangled Wurzels, what a night to remember and all f.o.c.

We will be back this year for some more fun and laughter

Nice views, didn't find size of the pitches too bad for our small caravan. Washrooms clean but not vast in size for number of pitches. We were warmly welcomed. We enjoyed lovely day trip to Wells - and enjoyed the views of the Somerset levels from our campsite. Pool small but warm and nice to have available.

Our only problem was that we hadn't read the small print about fact 'no noise after midnight' and it was noisy all evening until gone midnight - both noise from the bar area, music from pitches and from playground - where screaming children carried on playing in dark even at 11.30pm. Would not go back for that reason but if you don't mind a lively place or you can go to the far top corner of the site then you may enjoy it.
