We stayed over the moved May/Jubilee half term on a tent pitch with electric hook up. Our pitch was beside in-laws (handy for watching over each others kids)

The electric hook up was a godsend, we had a little fan heater running just to keep the chill & damp at bay.

Swimming pool was a life safer with 3 kids between us all on the days we were on site to give each other (parents) some time off.

Only downside was the play area didn't have a separate toddler area. The youngest (18 months) could only go in when the big kids/teenagers weren't around as it is small & it was half term so a lot of families on site.

Small laundry was very useful. The top shower block is dated but quieter then the main shower block. But both clean & plenty of hot water.

The bar food was good and popular. Bar/wait staff helpful when one meal wasn't served. The site held activities for all the family over the Jubilee.

Weather gradually worsen as the week progressed to the point nearly all other tents had gone. The morning after the worst night, went to the store. The staff said they had kept an eye on our tents through the night, thank you. The site had during the wet week laid straw down over the muddy path into the side field. As a high site, we weren't at risk of flood. And the view is stunning weather permitting.

The location is ideal for going to Wells (supermarket), Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and visiting family. Discount vouchers at reception.

Very friendly staff and people on site.

Arrived home yesterday after a 3 night weekend break in one of the new Log Camping Cabins (what a fantastic idea). I called this site last week and found them more than helpful when I was trying to sort out accommodation at late notice.

With the weather being so awful lately and an awful forecast for the weekend we didn't fancy taking a tent, and all of the caravans were fully booked.

We were offered one of the new cabins that hadn't been advertised yet. This turned out to be a fantastic solution. We hired the cooking and crockery packs so we only had to take our bedding, although you can also hire a bedding package if you wish. We found the cooking and crockery packs very good and contained every thing you could need.

The cabins were more spacious than I expected. We are a family of five, a nine year old boy and twin girls of six years, with lots of stuff, so we were pleased to find lots of storage under the beds. The cabins have a kettle and a microwave. Very handy and electric heater should you need it, but we found the cabins nice and warm.

The toilet blocks were lovely and clean, as were the showers and lovely hot water. The swimming pool again was lovely. Clean and warm, kids loved it.

Went to the club house on two nights, my husband would recommend the cheddar ales. Lovely atmosphere, child friendly, and the food was great and not overpriced.

All in all, we have had a lovely weekend. Great site. Every one friendly and helpful from booking to leaving. We are already thinking of booking again.

Very nice site that we shall be returning to. We like Cheddar and the surrounding area which is why we chose this site along with the fact that that they offer large pitches.

It is clean and well presented. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment they put on for the Jubilee weekend was very good. The bar is a good size and the prices are ok, , especially the Wilkins draught cider at 2. 50 a pint and very nice to, and the food was nice. We didn't use the pool but it seemed popular. The shop although small, stocks the essentials. Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and even though the site was quite busy there was always hot water and loo roll.

We paid extra for a large pitch and we were placed on a terraced plot away from the bar and park so was very quiet. The pitch was only just big enough for our Montana 6 and awning. It did feel quite cramped but we were on the end of the row and our neighbour was my brother so privacy wasn't an issue for us. We were concerned about the size of our tent being an issue because they do state on the site maximum dimensions which we exceeded a little but we needn't worry because other people were grabbing space from their carpark space with gazebos and windbreaks and parking their cars in the road. If you have a tent around 6m x 4m then you'll have a nice amount of space to sit and relax bu, t bigger than this then get used to being very close to strangers.

The only negatives I have is that the toilets in the swimming pool changing rooms that are open to everyone at night in the bar really smelled. It was. Like using a well used porta loo. The reason for this is that the urinals run into an open drain in the floor. There are plenty of other nicer smelling toilets outside though. The other is that the only bins are at the entrance so if like us you were at the other end of the site then all your rubbish had to be taken to the opposite end. I understand that there are lots of recycle bins needed, but one general waste bin by each toilet block would be very useful.

Finally it states on the website that you can not book in until after 2pm we saw people arriving as early as 8am, so you don't have to waste half your day on the M5 get there early, pitch up and spend the rest of the day eating cheese.

Just returned after a very pleasant 4 day stay. We booked a medium hard standing pitch with EHU. Bit of a puzzle that as the caravan wheels were on the grass. If we had left the wheels on the square of tarmac we felt it would have been out into the road way too far.

The bar wasn't open during the four days Mon - Fri but was due to open Fri evening and Sat evening. This we knew beforehand so no surprise.

We used the pool on three occasions with a nearly three year old and had it to ourselves. There are 2 pubs close but the road doesn't have pavements so care is essential or use of the car is a must.

It has been many years since we have used this site, but it was a good stay and would recommend with no problem.

Children's playground is basic and impossible for a small child to use the slide without assistance as there is no ladder.

4th visit at the beginning of March, second week of opening. Site opens before most others. Annoyingly only found out from the website two weeks before we went that the bar/restaurant and swimming pool weren't opening until the week after we were going. I can't see why they can't open everything together, a couple of weeks isn't much to organise. Saying that I took the boy swimming at the leisure centre in Cheddar which was fine. The static we stayed in was a silver 3 bedroom opposed to the 2 bed bronze we booked. We got the free upgrade as staff felt it would be warmer for us, very happy with that is it was cold that week! I have reviewed this site more fully in previous reviews so won't repeat myself. I'm going again in October due to an Olympic leave ban at work. I know the pool and bar are open then :o)

We have just bought our first Tent and decided to try it out as the forecast for the weekend said warm and dry. We found this site on these pages and thought why not it`s not to far from Bristol and is open early season.

We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. The pitch we were given had plenty of room with a power hookup within a few meters.

The toilets showers and washing facilities were excellent and very clean. The site looks as though a great deal of thought has gone into making sure that you have enough room between pitches although we were the only 2 camping at the time.

You are smack bang between Cheddar and Wells, two very nice places to visit, both within 15 minutes drive.

A Great site that we will visit again when the weather is a little warmer.

3rd visit in 2 years. On this occasion I took my trailer tent with my wife and 2 children (5 years and 5 months) on the next pitch were my inlaws, sister in law, her partner and 2 year old, so plenty of us! We had grass serviced pitches near to the main block and bar. We stayed over the Halloween weekend and the week prior. The bar is excellently priced for food and drink. The food is homemade, local and fresh. Over the Halloween there was trick or treating for little kids, pumpkin carving and a disco with fancy dress, all very good and most people joined in. I wont go into great details of the site as I have done so on previous reviews last year. To add though, if you want a good cooked breakfast in Cheddar, I recommend the Riverside Inn, open from 8am. Great fresh local grub! It rained a lot when we were there, grass became a bit spongy and muddy in the doorway to the tent but no flooding etc so cant really complain. Top site, will, of course stay again!

This was our first 'proper' camping trip, and a warm-up for adventures on the continent in 2012. After much deliberation, we chose Bucklegrove for a mix of entertainment, pool, location, and pitch. All of which were good, although you can't really help have a slightly muddy pitch at the end of the season.

We were pitched close to the playground and bar, with concerns for noise, but everything quietened down after about 9 (10 at latest). The pool was smallish, but excellent, and was brilliant for our daughter who was learning to swim.

Toilet block and washing-up facilities were clean and tidy. The staff were pleasant and friendly, and we would visit again if we were in the region.

We stayed at this site for 7 nights. It was well-located and there was lots to do in the local area. It was easy to find as well with the directions given by the site very easy to follow and clear signage on the road as well.

The pitch we had was disappointing as it was a mud bath when we arrived and only preceded to get worse as the weather deteriorated. It was also small with very little space outside for us to sit once we had put our 6 man tunnel tent up.

The toilets, showers and washing up block were dated and there was little evidence of them being cleaned during our stay and I think it was only down to some considerate campers who cleaned the showers after themselves! I was glad that we had family staying in the static caravans (which they were pleased with) so that I could use their showers instead!

The swimming pool is a good feature but it was very chlorinated.

One annoying thing was the rubbish location. Unlike most sites we have stayed at, there was only one place for rubbish to be deposited and this was a 5 min walk from a tent which was a little bit tedious!

The shop and bar were convenient and they made an effort to put activities on but the programme of events kept changing on a daily basis. We also took part in Bingo, which seemed unfair as many of the winners were staff that worked there (and this happened on more than one occasion!).

Overall, the site was quite noisy. It would be nice if they could provide a separate adults only area so that you werren't wopken up during the night by screaming children!

I thought this site was expensive for the facilities they provided and I would not stay here again.

We booked a grass pitch with EHU for the bank holiday weekend in August 2011. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff in the reception and it went downhill from then on really.

We were pitched in 'Strawberry Field' and specifically asked to be close to the children's play park. We were technically in the same field as the play park but not near, nor could we see it from our pitch.

The so called grass pitch was a mud bath, poor management of pitches in my opinion and they didn't seem to care about breathable groundsheets, Dave (the site handyman) shrugged his shoulders in despair when this was mentioned.

You are supposed to only use low voltage or gas kettles, as with the other 95% of touring vans, we had a household 240v kettle with us and couldn't have the fridge, tv and kettle on without it tripping out. 10amp power supply is a bit low for this day and age I feel.

Swimming pool ok, toddlers pool and bigger pool, clean enough but the complex was looking dated.

I entered the bar one evening to buy my kids some pop whilst carrying a bottle of beer, staff come up and asked me to leave as I didn't purchase this from the bar. I could see their point of view but I was not consuming this on their premiss and spending my money in getting the kids the usual evening treats, pointless I thought and staff too quick to comment.

Toilets and showers were not very clean, looking very tired. Watered down hand soap in the dispensers and filthy sinks the majority of the time.

The play park is unsuitable for any children under 3 years of age. The reason for this is that the slide in the park can only be accessed by the children if they balance up a log with a plastic coated chain net under it, this rises from 2ft to about 5ft off the ground, totally unsuitable for our 18 month old. The play park is basic and not a lot in there.
