Spent one night at Budle Bay Campsite after deciding a couple of weeks ago that we needed time to chill. Spoke to the warden on the phone, she sounded lovely and was very informative and excited about the changes being made.
We were not disappointed. We are traditional campers who don't do electric hook ups! The site was more 'organised' as in the non hook up tents were in one bit & the touring vans, motor homes & elec hook up tents were on another.
We had just put our tent up when Jane came to welcome us. What a lovely, friendly woman. She told us about the new Eco huts and other changes that are being made.
The toilets were very clean and had a lick of paint since last year. Maybe the cisterns & seats could do with a bit of an update but as the site is a work in progress, maybe this will be done at a later date.
We didn't use the showers but had a little peek. They looked clean which is the main thing.
We are looking forward to another trip in the near future.

Arrived late Friday night, getting dark and the warden said 'borrow my pop up tent for your daughter, it'll be much easier'. A great start to a lovely weekend. Can't say enough good things about the camp hosts. Opened up the bunk house as a revision base for my daughter whilst we went out for the day/s. Offered her the bunk house to sleep in on the wet last night. Very friendly and helpful. The site itself is a work in progress but very usable. Washing up area basic but fine. Showers warm and powerful. Curtain blowing into the shower not great. Plenty of room on the pitches. Toilets old but clean. Excellent location for Bamburgh and northern parts of the park. Lovely walk into bamburgh along the cliff tops. 10/10 marks for the hosts and 8/10 for the site.

I stayed at the lovely Budle Bay Campsite with my boyfriend at the end of May, which is not only perfectly situated to visit the local beaches and Bamburgh Castle, but is also well equip with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable (as well as beautiful scenery and value for money)
Another fantastic part of the Budle Bay Campsite is the first rate customer service, considering we made the biggest mistake in camping and forgot our tent poles, the site managers provided us with their own tent to stay the night, saving the day.
10/10 for Budle Bay Campsite, we will most definitely be back.

We visited this site for the first time in April this year and had a great welcome from the wardens. It is a small/medium family site which is developing various areas eg play area, bunk house and more hook-up points. The shower block is large, clean and there was plenty of hot water. The washing up area is outside the shower block (again with lots hot water) but close to the camping area.
The site has recycling and laundry facilities but we didn't use the latter. There is a small river/stream at the edge of the site which we didn't investigate as it was snowing! but the wardens said the kids loved it in warm weather.
It is a great site for a base in Northumberland- we took our bikes and there are lovely quiet roads to cycle on with kids that take you to the main towns close by eg. Bamburgh, Seahouses, Holy Island and we will definitely use it again.
We had great eat in fish and chips at The Neptune in Seahouses.

First time using this campsite and our first time at Budle bay we had a great time and loved the site and people running it and will definitely go again.
The site was clean and tidy although there was lots of work in progress around the site it did not cause any problem and I'm sure when finished will be well worth all the effort being put in.
The price was ok and I just hope all the work being done wont make the prices go up, keep it simple and affordable I say.
The wash facilities did us just fine and the toilets although getting old did not bother us at all, after all we are camping.
Im looking forward to my next visit and hope I can stay for longer next time.

My third review of this site as it just keeps getting better.
The site looks a lot tidier this year as the abandoned caravans have been removed, as have some of the trees and bushes in the middle. Roadways have also been added and a lot of the EHU points (6amp) and drinking water taps have been replaced (this is ongoing and the rest will be finished soon).
A small play area has been added and the on site cafe was open this year. Recycling bins are also now provided and there is a washing machine and dryer (£5 to wash and dry).
The toilet block is still the same, although the problem with the (lack of) hot water we encountered last year appears to have been sorted out as there was always hot water available.
Very much work in progress but this is a cracking little site with very friendly and helpful staff, a really relaxed atmosphere and a fabulous location. Love it and can't wait to go back next Easter!

Our initial impression of this site was not great as the camping area is somewhat neglected and the shower block is in need of an update. We would suggest some lighting outside the shower block and provision of recycling facilities.
However, once we had settled in the place proved to be much better than we first feared. There is loads of 'free' hot water and the showers and toilet blocks are kept reasonably clean and tidy. The pitches within the caravan area, where we pitched, are flat and well drained.
The tent area slopes somewhat. The surrounding hills and trees also afford a lot of shelter and there was no traffic noise. A small shop on site offers some tuck and use of a freezer, also 'free'. The manager was friendly and helpful and overall we had a very pleasant stay.
The site is ideally situated for trips to Berwick, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Farne Islands, The Cheviott Hills and Arnwick. For BBQs use Carter & Sons Butchers in Bamburgh. Their Bamburgh Bangers are the best!
Also Swallows Fishmongers in Seahouses is worth a visit for the kippers.
There are a couple of pubs in Bamburgh but for a really good meal try The Apple at Lucker (10 mins drive).
Nearest supermarket at Belford, again 10 mins drive. Do not stay here without walking to Bamburgh at low tide along the sands!

Stayed for 2 nights, lovely site, family friendly the kids had a great time. The owners were welcoming and showed us to a nice spot to pitch our tent.
The campsite was relaxing and quiet through the night.
The downsides were the toilets and the showers. They were old and definitely need to be replaced, I did not like the thought of my 11 year old son, going in the men's loos, by himself when it was dark, he said it was scary and smelly, so he came into the ladies with me.
The campsite could do with new toilets, showers some lighting area around the outside of the Toilet block, a wooden playground for the kids and it would be great all round.
I would go back, but put off with the loo's and showers, I would prefer to pay an extra £8 more for the one up the road, where the facilities are all new, good play area for kids and a pool.

We visited Budle Bay Campsite for the first time in early August. It is in a beautiful sheltered spot with a little river running around one side of the site and a small field of lambs on the other.
As for the facilities, it’s a pity the site owners don’t care for them as they should as this could easily be the best site in the area. The showers, although spotless with plenty of hot water, were old with the walls in a poor state of repair, the shower trays were chipped and scratched and there were holes in the flooring.
The toilets again were old and needed a complete makeover. One cistern was broken but to be fair, it was repaired while we were there, and the site wardens were seen cleaning them several times a day.
When we arrived at reception, we were taken around the site by the site manger and allowed to choose our own pitch which doesn’t happen very often (if ever) and we were advised the best spot to get the early morning sun and sure enough, at 6. 30 am the next morning, we were sitting in the sun having coffee, how many site managers can arrange that
The site was very quiet at night and the “no noise after 11pm” was strictly observed. Although the site was fairly full, there was still room for the children to play and everyone was very friendly.
On the whole Budle Bay Campsite is a happy, friendly and well run site, it’s just a pity the owner doesn’t care for it the way the site manager and staff does because it could, without doubt, be the best site in the area.

A smashing little campsite in many respects. Location ideal for visiting the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle etc.
Owners very friendly and helpful, site not too crowded, ideal for families as not too rowdy. However, very basic supplies of bread & milk could/should be sold at reception as the nearest shops were a trek.
I really do think that the toilet/shower block needs an upgrade - these were barely adequate, especially in peak season. They were cleaned each day but the toilets didn't always flush properly & the lack of temperature control in the shower block meant that young children would struggle to use them.
I have stayed at a number of similar priced sites where toilet/shower facilities were far superior. That said, I would return to this site.
