When the site I had booked in Wales cancelled me August bank holiday week Scratby managed to fit me in. The site was full and although it had been a bad summer the grass was green and pitch lovely and well trimmed. Owners are so friendly and the camp shop is a treasure trove with all its little camping knick knacks and the food was reasonably priced. Nice to be able to pop down to it in the morning and pick up a paper. My children loved the pool and there were some lovely dog walks just off site. Toilets did the job and considering site was full never had to wait for a shower and were clean. Close to numerous beaches and we loved the one at Horsey and would get to see the seals. Will definitely be returning again.

We have just returned from a short break at this campsite. On arrival we couldn't believe our luck! The site looked very well maintained with neat grassed areas, flower beds, new toilet / shower blocks and shop. We couldn't wait to explore the site and the pool. The site is well laid out and the showers / toilet blocks were clean and there was plenty of hot water. We didn't really use the washing up facilities as we ate out most of the time. The shop was reasonably priced and stocked just about everything you could wish for. The pool had a lifeguard and was lovely and warm, perfect for younger swimmers!
However, the pitches are VERY close together, and there is very little space for children to play if they don't want to play on the play park. There is no field set aside for ball games, hence our tent was often bombarded with tennis balls or footballs. There is no noise curfew at night, so we were kept awake on 2 of our 4 nights by people being generally noisy, dogs barking and children running amock. There appears to be no warden patrol to advise patrons of appropriate behaviour for the site. We found the staff quite rude when we complained about the level of night-time noise and behaviour. The pool is supposed to open from 10 until 5, but it seems that this is only if the lifeguard actually turns up for work.
The 'no commercial vehicle of any description rule' doesn't apply to big pick up trucks, but includes my little Peugeot van!
The beach at Scratby is lovely. Rustic and not overcrowded with great waves. Nearby, we ate at the Castle at Caistor and the Lion at Thurne, which we can highly recommend. The Castle does a great Carvery every night. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, particularly in Great Yarmouth which has a Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre and lots of amusements and shops. There are lots of places where you can hire a boat for the day on the Norfolk Broads.

Been here 3 times previously and must say we enjoyed our stay this time too, just on the edge of the high season, lovely refurbished toilets / showers (only criticism was they are only cleaned once a day first thing in the morning, high season they could do with cleaning twice a day) plentiful hot water. £5 key deposit-refundable- required
Swimming pool was clean and well maintained with a lifeguard. The on site shop stocked everything you could need (grocery and camping supplies). Laundry facilities available, games room for older children and a safe children's' play area for the smaller children. Plenty of dog walks just outside of the site. Fishmongers not far from the site, a resaurant, garden centre, shop (open til 12mn) within walking distance. Hemsby beach is 5 minutes in a car, with a small amount of funfair / srcades and shops.
High season the non- electric tents were packed in like sardines, with little or no room for children to play or cars to be parked safely. Units with electric hook up did have a little more room but the pitches were tight, if you have a big unit make sure you stress this to them upon booking to be sure of getting a pitch big enough. Be clear with your booking and double check the details when you receive your confirmation as attention to detail is not great, as we experianced! when they were busy they made us feel we had made the mistake. Also appears rules about single sex parties/ commercial vehichles/ car parking are at the discretion of the staff as they are not always enforced. Site could do with 24/7 staff on site in high season as this appears to be when there were issues with noise etc and no one, until 9am the following morning, to deal with them.
Overall not the worst site we have been on but if you are looking for a haven not one for high season.

Excellent site, with good shop and facilities. Friendly staff. Close enough to Great Yarmouth and other local attractions. Visited the Bure Valley Railway at Wroxham, excellent activity for a rainy bank holiday afternoon. Will visit again soon

Well have just taken our new caravan out for the first time this season. Our choice was Scratby Hall the sun was shining and the surroundings are beautiful.
This site is always well maintained and you must compliment the management for the good upkeep of Scratby Hall.
I can highly recommend this site and will be back again during 2008.

This was our 2nd visit of the year to this site, which again was just as enjoyable as our 1st. The pitch we were given was great, well kept and perfectly maintained. The facilities ie shower and toilet blocks were very good, plenty of hot water, the only thing with the site being busy they could have done with a 2nd clean. The shop was well stocked with both groceries and camping supplies. Nearby you will find plenty of places to eat and drink and there are beaches at nearby Caister and Great Yarmouth. We would recommend this site, and definitely camp here again in 2008.

Having now visited Scratby Hall for the third time this season. I have nothing but praise for this camp site. The owners and staff are very friendly and nothing is to much of a problem. The toilets are always clean and have recently undergone refurbishment. The site is always tidy and I am yet to find any litter. We will be back again before the end of the season!

We stayed at this site for a bank holiday weekend, and this is a perfect site to relax and take things easy on. Tt is set in Scratby just outside great yarmouth, which itself is nice and peaceful. The welcome was pleasant, and the staff very helpful, our pitch was very neat & kept very tidy,we had electric hookup. Only 2 shower & toilet blocks but they were, 1 for male & 1 for female only & 1 block for washing up, these had plentiful supply of hot water. A key had to be obtained to use facilities with a £2 deposit. Also on the site is a well stocked & reasonably priced shop which sells many grocery items & camping supplies, and in the summer season only is an outdoor swimming pool & a decent kids play area. Outside of the campsite were many places to go,i:e Caister, Great Yarmouth which have beaches, restaurants, pubs and plenty of things to do.

We stayed here with another family last year. Booking in was quick and simple, the on site store had everything! The pool was clean and well maintained, however, I found the toilet block dirty ( even my 3year old son wanted to know what the black stuff was on the floor) Tracing paper for toilet paper, cracked seats etc. Maybe we went on a bad week. It did feel as if we were crammed in and kids had no place to play ball games. The club site side of things looked a lot better, but I could not check out the toilet/shower blocks as my key did not fit. Being from norfolk the area around is good, fantastic beaches loads of things to do.
