Great site. We were caravanning virgins, the shop is extremely well stocked with all the usual, and also lots of spares for your caravan or to buy any bits and pieces you may have forgotten. Toilet block is good, showers coould do with a temp control on them. We could not find the kiddies playground, but there is lots of open space for them to use, will visit again as it is extremely good value for money

A great location, excellent site, lovely pool (in the HOT weather only as it doesn't feel too "heated" as its supposed to be). The toilets are OK and fairly clean, the loo roll is tracing paper... take your own! The showers have hardly any pressure and in the busy times there was no water at all (other than cold). This happened on three mornings and one evening. This is a big problem obviously. When the water was on it was very, very hot and in fact was far too hot for the kids (a bucket and wash down for them!). Lots of people were doing the same and I reported it to the warden / cleaner two or three times but nothing was done and he said they had no other complaints... strange as everybody was moaning about this... I was told that maybe sun burn made it feel hotter than it was... hmmm!!

All in all I would go back for the location and swimming pool but the showers do make me wonder whether it's worth it... On balance I'd say this is a 6/10 site but sort the showers / water supply problems and it could easily be a 9/10!

Just returned from four nights mid week, so the site was not too busy. Excellent general lay out of facilities, and very  friendly staff.
The pitches are spacious enough.and I would imagine like "super pitches" on a club site. Hook up, TV point and water.
Only One small point to raise, the waste water drop is in a room with the elsan drop. It is just a drain in the floor so the water tends to gush out all over the floor. A quick mop up soon sorts it.
Didn't use the on site showers and loo so can't comment on the loo paper.
There really is plenty to do in the surrounding area. We managed a trip to Thrigby hall wildlife park, Caister Castle and car museum and a trip on the broads, day boat hire. We finished with and evening at the Stock car racing in Gt Yarmouth.

We found the site clean and well looked after, The staff were friendly and helpful.
The showers could have done with a mixer so tap so you could control the water better.
The site is in a great location as your near to some great beaches. We didn't stay on site in the day so I cant comment on the site in that way,You get to use the club house down the road which the kids really enjoyed.
There was a lot of kids in the evening playing games outside the tents but they never kept my kids awake so I had no problem with them.
I will be staying at this site again next year so I guess that's the best compliment I can give the site.
I would suggest you give this a try if your looking for a holiday site in the area.

We spent ten nights at this site in the beginning of August. It is a lovely site with a short walk to a sandy (but mostly windy) beach.
The good news is the toilet paper has been replaced in a few cubicles with proper paper!
the swimming pool is really good and our son loved playing in it every day. Seems bonkers that it is shut on a Saturday.
The site is really well kept, tidy and quiet
It is a really safe place for children to play. Our one quibble with this is that the pitch sizes are on the small size and when the site is full, which it was most of the time we were there, there is little space for children to play ball games and ball games are banned from the play area!?? our son was told to move away from several grumpy tents near to us when he tried to play football so he was left with nowhere to go.

Our last comment is that we are enthusiastic about camping as we love the environment, this also means respecting and looking after our environment, we were extremely disappointed to see that such a well organised site ( the shop is great too) fails to provide any recycling facilities.

It is also very cheeky to charge for freezing ice packs, we had never encountered this before!

having said that, we had a lovely time and would recommend this site, a great location to visit many beautiful places in Norfolk.

We arrived here quite late for the Bank Holiday weekend on the off chance.
The staff asked us to wait for about 10 minutes while they checked for vacancies before they said we could stay there. They were very friendly and courteous. We were taken to the area where we were told to pitch where we liked.
As this was our first camping trip, we were a bit daunted by this but luckily a family pitched nearby helped us by looking after our children and helping us pitch the tent. By the time we had finished it was dark and time to get the little ones to bed.
The shop was brilliant, the toilet block was good and clean BUT I agree with the comments about the toilet paper. The play area was very good and the pool was superb. I could not fault the facilities at all. My husband did comment that the men's block was dirty by the evening, so I took my son to the ladies with me.
My only other criticism would be that when we were out for the day on Saturday, we came back to a very packed field with some people pitching far too close to us. We were also in a field with a no dogs sign on the gate but were surrounded by them. Odd really.
As for the people who pitched too close they also had a rather big and very unfriendly dog that growled at my children every time they moved. We ended up having to buy some windbreaks (from the shop on site) to block the dogs view of us as the owners had no intention of stopping their dog from growling all the time. But that was not the fault of the site. When we did complain they did sort them out.

There are lots of great places nearby to visit, we would recommend Thrigby Hall. What a little Gem.
I expected a small place with a few animals, but this place was huge and packed with all sorts of reptiles, monkeys, birds, big cats etc. Brilliant.
Great Yarmouth is very close and great for the Sea Life Centre, wind farm and the usual seaside activities.
The site itself is very quiet and I have never seen so many stars in my life. My son loved the rooks flying back to the rookery every night. The noise from them was amazing but quite short lived.
I would recommend this site to anyone. I would go back there again, but I would take my own toilet roll!

Just spent a great week at Scratby Hall. This is a very well-kept site. Even though it got pretty full at the weekend, the atmosphere was peaceful and friendly. Having said that, it is a fantastic place for kids -with a pool (except Saturdays), play area, small games room and a superb shop with reasonable prices. Don't camp here if you are bothered by children playing football, cricket etc, as the flat, mown grass is ideal for ball games.
Downside? The toilets and showers are getting on a bit. Although fairly clean, the showers run off the hot supply only, with no apparent temperature control. Duckboards, seating and a thermostatic mixer on the hot supply would make showering a cleaner, more comfortable experience.

This is a well maintained site. If your looking for just somewhere for a quiet weekend IDEAL. The staff are helpful and polite. The showers are immaculate cleaned daily. Just a 10 min drive to Great Yarmouth and 5 min drive to Hemsby if you do want to explore. Only bad thing was the toilet roll which is tracing paper not very pleasant.

We took a last-minute break here and for a single mum with children it was absolutely ideal. The staff were always friendly and helpful and - joy of joys - not afraid to step in and warn the parents of unsociable/bullying children that they would be asked to leave if they didn't behave. Anyone with kids will understand what a relief that was!

There are many wonderful beaches nearby, unspoilt by rampant commercialism (though if you want it, Yarmouth's nearby), but the one we used (5 mins from site by car) had all the family 'essentials' - car park, loos and a caff to get a great all-day breakfast. Although on a windy day the breakers were big enough to knock me over, it also had a huge natural pool on the beach, so exciting for big kids and grown-ups but safe for the little ones. Perfect.

Have to agree with the loo-roll complaint - nasty stuff! Also the ladies washroom block was closed for cleaning each day (good) but between 10am and 11am. I don't now about anyone else, but now my kids don't get me up at the crack of dawn, that's exactly the time we want to have our morning shower on a lazy holiday!

The play area is great and the pool an absolute bonus. Both areas protected by trees, so the main part of the site still enjoys peace and quiet. I would definitely recommend this site to families with children old enough to enjoy a degree of independance as they'll happily spend the day at the pool and/or in the play area if you fancy a lazy day.

Site is populated by not very shy bunnies, so mornings and evenings are a delight for young children too. Great food-and-family pub just 2 mins away by car. Boat, canoe, kayak hire available nearby on the Broads. Also, I would recommend booking one of the special guided boat trips available before going (couldn't get a last-minute booking on the most interesting ones). We'll be going again. Do check the stated 'maximum' price though, if your setup is bigger than a 4 man tent.

 August 2005
Arrived about 7pm on the Friday of the bank holiday weekend. Well stocked shop with friendly and helpful staff. My main gripe is the amount of dogs allowed in a small area. Our last night was ruined by a rather large unfriendly dog constantly growling at my 5 year old son. If he was scared of dogs before, he is terrified by them now. I know the dog issue is down to the owners, but the gate on the field said no dogs, but there were 3 around us. Otherwise, not a bad place to stay.
Not sure if I would visit again as the mens shower blocks were disgusting by my husbands standards. Made some good friends and will go camping with them in the future.
