We have just returned from Scratby Hall caravan site.
The site is a beautiful level site, that benefits from a shop, launderette, heated swimming pool. Upon arrival we were issued with a key for the toilets. This one key was to do for our family of four. We found this rather inconvenient as one of us may have wanted to go to the toilet whilst another member of the family was already there. We have never stayed anywhere before with this system. On the Thursday of the first week our son went to the toilet block, went into the toilets and left the key on the side of the sink while he went inside the toilet, when he came out it was gone. Whilst we realise this wasn't the campsite owners fault we felt that had a keypad system this would have eradicated this from happening. We were then faced with the rest of our holiday wondering who had taken our key. Obviously someone who wanted a spare key and didn't want to pay for one.
The toilets were rather grubby and dirty and wanted a good clean. I went for a shower one day and thought there was a rather odd smell, and upon closer inspection but not that close, found that what I thought was a leaf was in fact faeces. Again this is the other campers who tend to leave the showers obviously not as they would like to find them, I complained about it and to be fair it was cleaned up.
The bin in the washing up area was caked in dried up food that had obviously been like that for a while. I ended up cleaning it only to find it was as bad again the day after. Why can campers not clean up after themselves? And leave it as they would wish to find it.
Needless to say we won't be returning, and the key never did turn up!
The owner worked so hard to mow the pitches and keep the grass trimmed when pitches were vacated.
I have tried to be positive about the site where credit is due and not moan too much.

An extremely friendly all grass site about a mile or so from the beach. Site and toilets/showers very clean though found the shower cubicles a touch too small, on site shop sold basics only, for anything more walk 200 yds down the main road where there is a Premium supermarket attached to a garden centre selling everything as well as booze. Along the side road after the supermarket is the nearest bus stop to Great Yarmouth(details from reception). Nearest village Ormesby St Margaret can be walked to over the fields via a public footpath.

We booked at short notice as the forecast was good, and the lady on reception was very helpful over the phone. The site was easy to find (sign posted from the Caister by-pass), and a friendly welcome given at reception.
We were given a 'super' pitch around the edge of the site to be near some friend. The pitch was very wide and level, and had a service point with electrics, water and drain. Pitches in the central camping area were still grassy (good considering it was post summer holidays), although not all were big - our friends had very close neighbours.
The shower block was cleaned regularly, with plenty of showers and toilets. The kids play area was suitable for younger kids - our 6 year old made a friend there and they seemed to use it to sit on and chat. The pool was shut when we were there.
The on site shop was well stocked with camping spares, but running stock down food wise - although still had the essentials. There was another shop nearby open until midnight which had a larger range of food and drink (I think they classed it as Scratby Garden Centre - had a pet shop and other supplies as well).
Everyone on site was friendly, plenty of people to chat to / willing to chat. It was also one of the quietest sites later in the evening - silent after 11pm, except for the local wildlife and a nearby donkey!
We visited Great Yarmouth and Hemsby - both easy to drive to. We paid an extra £5 for a late check out - allowing us to leave the tent pitched until 5pm which was handy.
Some of the flying insects resulted in nasty bites - I had 4 on the first evening which required antihistamines to calm them down. Go prepared if you react.
All in all a great find for us, and one we will visit again for weekends near the sea.

Really pleased we read the reviews on this website - the site is EXCELLENT!
We WILL continue to recommend the site to friends and family and we WILL return when in Norfolk next. Many people we spoke to were regular visitors over a number of years.
The grounds are lovingly tended, everything is tidy and clean, the grass is immaculate - (bowling green standard!). The toilet/ shower blocks are ample, the water is hot and the blocks are kept clean and nice -( lots of loos but not as many showers ).
The pitches are very spacious and a super pitch is well worth the extra few quid to get a plot along the edges with electricity etc.
The swimming pool is well supervised with lifeguards and is a respectable size - nicely sheltered too, with sunbeds - and nicely warm if the sun has been on it - otherwise tolerable.
Kids playpark very well kept, roadways safe for kids to cycle. Ample dog walking opportunities around fields (although some people seemed to expect a manicured park to be attached, to walk their dogs in - not sure why - it's the country side!)
The ladies in the reception are exceptionally helpful (gave lots of advice on pubs, takeaways, beaches etc). The little shop has quite a good selection of camping accessories and essential groceries - as well as fresh bread daily(?), ice cream etc (no booze. )There is a launderette.
The site doesn't have a clubhouse/ bar but who needs that! The village of Ormesby st margaret nearby has a proper pub, and other amenities. There is a local butcher, fishmonger, corner shop etc close by & supermarkets within 10 mins.
Beach at scratby is walkable in about 20 mins.
Beach at Winterton on sea 5 miles away - delightful! Give Hemsby/Newport a miss. Very commercialised (Chavsville)- if it's that sort of thing you like, you won't like Scratby Hall.

We are a party of 4 adults and 2 children.
Visited scratby hall for the first time after reading good reviews on here. We travelled 200 miles to find we had left tent poles at home, owner was very helpful and let us leave our trailer in a safe place on site whilst my husband drove home to get the poles. We arrived back the following day, pitched our tent. We were in the top field and near to the toilet/shower blocks and also the kids play area and football play area.
Toilet/shower blocks were cleaned regulary, also the field was maintained. To access the toilets you needed a key which you leave a deposit for, this didn't cause us a problem. Well equiped small on site shop, prices very reasonable. Heated swimming pool was a bonus but did get busy. Very quiet site no noise rule after 11pm which everyone adhered to. Never had to queue for a shower and we visited over a bank holiday when site was full.
The one thing that was a bit of a juggle was the size of shower cubicles, not much room for belongings and to get dried, also I feel the shower/toilet blocks could do with separate cubicles with sinks in so you could just have a wash rather than a shower if you just wanted to freshen up.
Site close for beach about a ten minute walk. Hemsby 5 minute drive away which we visited once, and a 10 minute drive to Great Yarmouth.
Overall we were very pleased with this site, one of the best we have visited. We cannot thank the owner enough for helping us out, the owner was always about tending to the site. Highly recommend and we will definitely be going back.

Very good site and loads of space between units. Would appear to of had a change of owner over the last few years as it now seems to be run by Caroline who also lives on site.
We were placed on the overflow field and able to pitch anywhere except the 2 electric pitches which were occupied, one being occupied by a massive tent which would not look out of place as a refugee shelter which appeared to have family of 7 living in it, our small gelert seemed to be dwarfed by it. When we saw the family and kids who seemed to be aged from 3 to 15 we did think that the silence would be broken but must say that apart from the odd baby cry or sisterly quarrel they were very quiet.
Play equipment very good if aged 2-12 but not a lot for older teenagers, though they did seem to be kept amused by pinching sugar beet from the field opposite and leaving most of their quarry as a present in the morning.
Overall the site is very well run with a cracking shop and pool but the pressure in the showers let's it down along with the grass.

We had booked into flamingo land for 2 weeks but after 8 days we left and as we had been to scratby hall a few years ago and enjoyed it so much I phoned in the morning and they managed to fit us in
we didn't get there till after 8 at night was told where to pitch which was a massive.
We had a great time, your made to feel very welcomed. The lady who owns the park remembered us.
The camp is very clean and well looked after they give you loads of leaflets of things to see and do, also a black sack for your rubbish and told if you need more to go back.
I would recommend it to everyone its a lovely camp and will go again

Last minute booking for a couple of nights, it was a pleasure to stay at Scratby Hall, nice clean loos and showers and a very well kept site.
Nice and quite not only in the evening but also didn't get too loud to early to allow for a nice lay in in the morning.
Locations is very good not to far from the Broads and Great Yarmouth and the lovely beaches along the coast line.
We are looking forward to returning this time with the family.

Very nice, clean and level site with good pitch sizes all on grass. Electric pitches are around the outside with non electric pitches in the middle.
The staff in both the reception and the small but well stocked shop are very friendly and helpful.
Plenty of showers although the cubicles are a bit small when you close the shower curtain.
Quiet time starts at 10pm and the whole site fell silent by 11pm so ideal for families with younger children.
Good location for Great Yarmouth and the Broads

Just returned from a fantastic few days at this park. Outdoor pool area is clean, pool was warm and has a life guard on duty. Pool does get busy though! Site is very well maintained and kept clean & tidy.
Play area for kids is lovely as were the staff throughout our stay. There is a well stocked shop on site which is very well priced and comparable to most supermarket prices.
There is also a launderette which we didn't use but looked up to same standard as everything else. The toilets/showers and washing up room were cleaned regularly.
We'll definitely stay again. Overall a very well serviced park providing excellent value for money.
