Just had a 4 night break at this lovely wooded site, bring wellingtons boots because when it rains you'll need them. Most of the earlier reviews have said it all and not much I can add. But:-
Pitches are big and in little glades.
ROCK PEGS NEEDED !
If in a tent try to pitch on high ground.
The paths around get very muddy (I know it's a wood) however if the paths had a layer of gravel like the main path has then the shower/wc block would not get so muddy after a heavy down pour.
The warden did a good job trying to keep them clean, the problem in our opinion is that the block is not big enough for the site. The toilets in the park can be used up until 6pm when the park closes. The showers had hot water but cubicles a bit on the small side.
Without the 24/7 access to the park I would rate it lower
I don't want to come over negative about what is basically a reasonably good site but this site could be better.

Well, we camped there for easter. What can I say apart from it was wet. Not the campsites fault, but it was a very waterlogged site. We did receive a phone call from the site the day before warning us that the campsite was waterlogged and if we wished to have our booking or get a refund which I thought was nice.
Upon turning up we had booked two pitches together with another family, the pitches were very large so we managed to find the 'drier' spots on the pitches and in the end we (5 man tent and a campervan with awning) would have managed to fit on one pitch. Take rock pegs!
Yes it expensive, but it does include access into the park during your stay, so taking into account what the normal day tripper would pay, its not that bad. You also get access to the park after it has shut, so if the adventure playground is busy, wait till everyone goes home, then use it! Yes I did have a few goes on the zip wire myself :)
Customer service in the park was very good, the warden helpful when our car wouldn't start (had a jump pack which got us up and running in minutes). The toilets whilst small where very warm and clean - which considering the amount on mud on the site was a miracle.
Couple of little niggles, the nearest water supply to us wasn't working so had to walk a bit further, the road surface in the campsite had a lot of potholes, I imagine in the nice weather its a lovely site.

Just back from a weekend here with extended family. The woodland setting of this site is fab. Look carefully at the site map before you book and choose what will suit you and your group then you will feel like you are the only campers here.
Take rock pegs.
The facilities block is modern but just too small. There are only 3 women's showers and 2 men's. We had to queue for showers, toilets, basins and even washing up sinks. It is a shame because what there are are of good standard but just not enough of them to cope with demand. They are also not checked and cleaned often enough so that by the evening they got a bit grim, especially when it had rained and mud was traipsed inside.
Entry to the country park is included in the pitch price which means that it can seem expensive, we paid £136 for 3 nights. The ages of our children ranged from nearly 10 to 6. There wasn't that much for the older ones in our group. We think it would feel much better value if the children had been younger and had enjoyed more of the activities in the park.
Country park would be great for younger kids. Little train (£1. 50 pp), jumping pillow, play areas, sand and water play area and animal area. Lots of themed weekends too. Crazy golf, ride on cars (extra cost) for older kids.
We have visited this site and country park once before but I doubt we'll be back due to the age of our kids and time spent queuing for facilities.

I can't give this site a full review yet as we only used the site as a stop over (arrived at 6pm and left at 7. 45am) however the fact that the kids and I can't wait to go back is in itself a good review.
There is a warden on site which is important for me and this, and the fact that entry to the country park is included, does reflect on the price. However despite not visiting the park the close proximity to Reading made this price worth paying.
The pitches are scattered through the forest and are a good size. It was quiet when we visited (hardly surprising in march) however there are lots of pitches and the toilet block may struggle in the height of summer.
Looking forward to a repeat visit this year to properly appreciate the site.

Had great weekend at Wellington Country Park, we used a non-electric tent pitch which cost £40 (high season), which was great value as we got access to the Park for both days of our one night stay for this, and that would have cost over £33 each day. Plus we got access to the park in evening and morning before day visitors. However if you aren't going to use the Park itself this would be expensive.
Pitch was level and fairly secluded as its in the woods. Used our rock pegs as recommended, but probably would have been fine with normal ones on our pitch. Toilet and shower blocks were clean and spacious (best I've seen on a campsite) and there was a laundry room too. As a bonus there were loads of Blackberries around the campsite and park and we enjoyed 'foraging'.
Country park had masses to do for our kids (5 & 4yrs)with range of play areas, free crazy golf (deposit required) and a small range of farm animals to feed/pet.
Lots of other families there and no one patrolling in the evening to keep the noise down that we could tell, but there is a warden on site so if it had been closer to us we would have been able to ask for support. There is a no noise rule from 10. 30pm.
Would definitely go back for a weekend again, but probably a bit pricey for longer as the Country park was all done within the two days.

I stayed here for 3 days with my little boy in a tent and we had a great time. We were based in the tent field and we had no problems with hard ground but I could see other pitches that looked rather hard and not used very much - maybe only used when the park is fully used, not sure.
After ready previous reviews I was worried about the showers, I did not have a problem but I did have a shower as soon as I got up, about 8am. I was slightly worried to see only 3 showers for the whole campsite - 3 men and 3 women.
My son had an amazing time in the Wellington park, he loved the pillow and the animals and we loved it when the public went home and the park was nice and peaceful.
The food in the cafe was nioce but we only used it on the last day to have breakfast.
The deer park is lovely, very close to the camp site and we sometimes woke up with deer on the other side of the fence.
I can recommend camping, we migth be going back next year!

I had high expectations for Wellington as some friends raved about it, but I have to say I was really disappointed.
First of its expensive, but that does get you access to the park - but of course if you pitch up on a Friday night and have to be off-pitch Sunday morning you only really get the Saturday in the park.
Pitches:
We were on a premium pitch as a friend booked our group, they are huge the misses and I must have spent best part of 10 minutes debating exactly where to put the tent from all the options! Put it this way our friends on pitch 1 were at the very end of their EHU cable to get into their tent!
Now allegedly they have some grass pitches, but I did not see any, our pitch and all the others I saw were best described as 'gravel car park'. Whilst I am sure its a great cost saver for them not to have to mow the pitch, and the caravan neighbors seemed happy with their hard standing, it really detracted for me from the experience. By hard I destroyed several of the tough Y shaped plastic pegs, in some areas they were best option in others you were best to go for basic steel peg as less chance of hitting stones underground. A friend was less well equipped and only had some basic steel pegs - we only got there tent up by using three pegs at a time on each main fixing until we ran out!
Ignoring the pegs and torn footprint (yes, we snagged our footprint somehow on a really sharp stone in middle of pitch - and that was after I walked/swept it before we pitched!) your under tress. Tress that drop stuff. Trees that drop stuff including lots tiny bugs that crawl everywhere. This was a nusiance for two reasons, if you leave table out its covered in about 30 minutes, you can't dish out a meal and enjoy, but also the small bugs get under all the flaps and nooks on the tent - you definitely need to 'de-bug' before you break camp or you will have squashed bug in all the vents and flaps.
Facilities:
Not bad, but limited for size of site, which was pretty full when we were there and showers were in demand 6 total for a very large site, when I used one it was also very muddy - luckily I had suitable footwear for me and the kids but would not have been pleasant if you were travelling light.
Washing up area was good, really generous sized sinks and drain space, little waste bins above the sink for slops great idea to stop sinks clogging.
Ambiance:
So strange site really compared to others, your all quite separated but as other reviews note there is often music and noise late into the night (which with two very small children is not ideal). I found this strange as the site has a resident warden (who I did not see). The segregation also means you don't really as many others as you do on open sites, good or bad as that may be. I would also hate to be on the pitches on the main route through the site to the toilet block next to the path - please be sure to insist your not on one of these if you book at this site!
As far as site experiences go, I would not rate this as a great one, it had no sense of community due to separation which seemed to perhaps drive the noisy behavior from some groups?
Staff/facilities:
Reception staff were friendly and polite, did not see the on site warden at all during our 3 day stay.
Summary:
If you can maximise hte park entrance price forced into the pitch costs great, otherwise I would stay somewhere else and just day drop to the park - your tent and its pegs will thank you.

Just home from a 2 night stay at Wellington park.
At reception, the staff are cheerful and your instructions/directions and campsite rules are clear from the start. The camping area is gated and you are issued with a key. You then drive to the site (2 mins) and are miles away (by foot) from anything. I. E. Reception, shop, cafe.
There is a live in warden on site, but you'd kind of feel rude knocking on his caravan as it is clearly his home. !. ?.
The pitch sizes are huge and the locations are glorious, with most being set apart or are far enough away not to invade or be invaded by other campers.
The ground is HARD. !
The pitches are surrounded by tall trees and shrubbery. If you prefer privacy from other campers, the Premium pitches seem to be the more set back, unbothered plots. We were in pitch 1 and we felt like we could've been the only people there at times.
The facilities area is clean and useful. Toilets are clean though the floor in the block is as clean as a wet campsite floor could be!
The shower cubicles (3 of) are large enough to hang your stuff behind the curtain and get changed in, they also have a stool in each cubicle which comes in handy. A separate cubicle provides a nappy changing area with sink and bin.
At 6am, I used the facilities and the Water was fine for me, though later in the day, I did hear people complain about it being cold and I saw others looking in and abruptly changing their minds?
Maybe the fact that I wear flip flops in the shower was why I wasn't deterred?
Washing machines are provided though I didn't use them, 20p hair dyer use, 6 washing up spaces and a Ben and Jerrys vending machine :) Oh but no ice block fridge :(
The park itself is huge and although the kids adventure park is a 15min walk. ! It's great fun. We all took our torches down at night (it's open to the public until 6ish) and had a ball. !
There's also a mini railway, mini golf, toddler areas and fishing lakes to name but just a few things. Unfortunately we didn't get to see it all as we went to Go Ape (40 mins away) and had an amazing day there!
It is pricey, but I think we would return. To just chill out and enjoy the park and scenery. My kids are 8, 11 & 16, so they are quite happy to amuse themselves with a football/frisbee etc, to be honest, I don't think I'd have a peaceful time with much younger ones as there is nothing for them actually in the camping area :(
Hope this was helpful xx have fun xx

We spent 3 nights here. Have to say, only semi impressed and don't think we'll be returning.
Good Points:
Nice woodland location
Nice Country Park - although its not that big and only suitable for younger children.
Bad Points:
VERY expensive. Yes you get access to the Country Park - but its still a lot of money.
Average facilities
No staff walking around checking on peoples behaviour - we had people playing music and talking behind us until about 2am
All in all, glad we went and tried it but won't be returning.

We have just returned from a glorious weekend at Wellington and found it to be a fantastic campsite. We were greeted by the friendliest staff and shown the ropes. Everything seemed really well prepared for our stay, perhaps more so than I expected for their opening weekend of the season. The non-electric pitches were still soggy from the wettest winter on record so were allocated an EHU pitch. Being low season the site was not full, but not deserted either and everyone was dotted around. Our pitch was one a cluster of three, with the other two left vacant so we had a lot of space to ourselves. The location is beautiful, being clearings in the woodland so still being sunny and light. It's also ridiculously easy to find. I love sites that are countryside yet conveniently close to a main road like Wellington.
The facilities were top notch with modern toilet / shower blocks and a good set up for laundry / dishwashing.
We chose to visit in low season for it's distinctly better value for money and got high season weather (t-shirt and shorts temperatures) to add to the bonus. I think as long as you stay on site and make good use of the country park, both within and outside of public opening hours, and after check out, it's great value for money. My only gripe is that I think £3 for 24 hours of wifi is expensive and then we discovered that only one device can connect at a time. I didn't fancy forking out separately for two adults and a teen so we took turns.
The country park itself is great; perfect entertainment for a sunny weekend with primary aged children. I wouldn't be so keen to stay any longer or to use it as a touring base, but then it's only an hour away from home anyway.
