What a great place! Had the feel of Centre Parcs but without the restaurants - in fact, the play areas here are much better than any of the 3 centre parcs I've been to.
Just spent 5 nights there (and would have stayed longer had the site not been full) with a 2 & 5 year old & my husband. The kids had a ball, they loved the farm (which is beautifully kept with happy, clean animals & pens), best of all - the numerous play areas are fantastic!
Their website pictures simply do not do the play facilities justice, they're bigger & better than they look & there's at least 4 different areas to play in. You can play all night long if you feel like it as the playgrounds and whole of the country park are open to campers 24hours. The kids rode their bikes all day around the campsite & then again in the evening along the lovely lakeside paths.
The park is full of birds, there are deer everywhere (and frogs!) - you can go into the deer pens at night with torches & try to find them. Don't bring teens! there's really nothing for them & its geared towards little ones & under 11's.
Try the jeep safari too - hilarious watching your kids try to steer a 'real' car! The showers were clean, as were the loos.
Some pitches were very gravelly but if you ask for a grassy one there's a large area which has been added, right next to the woods which is very grassy.
Staff were really helpful, very friendly. Cafe food is expensive & only serves hot food until 2. 30pm & the shop is pretty useless for campers, its more of a gift shop for visitors. But, there's a huge Tesco in Hook so we weren't worried about supplies! The cafe will freeze your ice blocks for free!
All in all we were gutted to leave & will definitely go back again regularly until the kids finish junior school.

Very well organised site and friendly and helpful staff. Easy to book and lots of different facilities to suit tents and caravans. Check out the on-line map for the most appropriate site for you.
Facilities excellent and very clean, although there weren't so many showers for such a large site three were never really any queues. The BEST part of the site though is access, even out of hours, to the country park, adventure playgrounds and BBQ picnic areas!
The kids had a ball and we only just live up the road! While there is a shop (expensive and limited) on site and the estate have a Farm Shop (also premium prices)which is almost opposite the entrance to the park.
Otherwise you need a car to get to shops in the local villages, or just up the road to Reading or Basingstoke. But the Farm Shop has an amazing chocolate fondue that goes on the BBQ resulting in melted chocolate to dip your fruit into: this became quickly became essential camping equipment and we'll be taking them whenever we go camping in the future!

We went here for 5 nights for our 1st family camping trip. The campsite is very well laid out, we were in a 'cul-de-sac' of 3 pitches so quite private, but plenty of room. At one point besides our tent there was 2 more plus a caravan and gazebo across 3 pitches, but still loads of room in the centre for everyone kids to play (a total of 8 kids under 6).
On the 4th day it rained heavily - bear in mind you are in a forest and there is a lot of dripping on the tent and acorns falling and hitting the tent and car roof - it got quite noisy and an acorn on the head hurts! Despite the rain our site and tent floor remained dry - the caravan next to us was in a dip and ended up in a bit of a puddle though.
Beautiful in the woods and free access to the park which is huge - has a model railway the kids had rides on, an adventure playground with deathslide, a toddlers play area and sandpit, animal area with cows, pigs, ponies, donkeys, alpacas and smaller animals. And as you walk round the lake there is a kids 'assault course' to do. They also had a teddy bears picnic which with our free entry meant free access to the bouncy castle, clown, storyteller, cakes etc - the kids had a whale of the time in the sun and the rain.
The site facilities consisted of clean toilets and 3 showers in the ladies - not enough for the size of the site in my opinion as between 07:30 and 08:30 there were queues. Plus as it was wet and muddy the floor was filthy and despite the readily available squeegee no one bothered to clean their shower after they finished. Laundy room and washing up area also provided and in general very clean.
We had a great time and fantastic first trip - will definitely go here again - we chose it mainly for the proximity to Legoland and will be going again once the 2yo is bigger - happily staying on the same site again.

Visited “Welly” a few times over the years – it’s probably my favourite summer site albeit potentially quite expensive. Great for kids and adults alike, it’s a large site with large pitches, most in forest enclaves.
Regularly fully booked but you certainly don’t feel a sense of overcrowding. With trees roots and shingle, many of the pitches aren’t tent peg friendly and we watched a neighbour successively bend 6 pegs in a row - that’s the quality you get with these Festival Special packages!
The upside is that the ground doesn’t become muddy in torrential rain – verified! Friendly and helpful staff, emails replied to quite quickly. Loo block is heated, clean and well stocked, showers hot and free, covered washing up area with many sinks and hot water. Torches are vital as there’s no lighting.
Being in the woods it’s no open fires but BBQ’s are ok, taking the usual precautions. Entry fee includes access to the park itself with a huge lake to walk around, a wide selection of things for kids to do free crazy-golf (£10 deposit) and sometimes there’s a narrow gauge railway running through the woods, well worth going on. Shop linked to the park sells the basics but predictively not at superstore prices.
The common 2 nights at weekends, 3 bank holiday applies and there’s quite restrictive check-in and out times: check-out by midday or £8 late departure fee – you have to hand in the gate key.
Check-in is from 2pm to 5. 30pm, no facilities for late arrivals unless by prior appointment. However, I was running late, (M4 Friday afternoon, ) they phoned me and made entry arrangements – that’s service for you!
Per pitch per night, in high season, a unit (car, tent, 2 adults) is £24/£25 which is good value for everything on offer. Start adding kids (3-15) at £4. 50 then a dog, gazebo and pup tent then the bill starts to rack up.
I don’t care – I love the site, the other adults and kids love it and so does the hound. We’ll be back again – woof!

Just back from a 4 night break and had just the best time, probably the best place we have stayed to date. Couldn't recommend it highly enough, it was great to see so many children cycling on their bikes and running through the woods in a very safe environment having such a good time.
We were able to use the facilities in the country park all day for free as entrance to park included in your stay, you just had to wear a wrist band given to you when you first check in.
The park is huge with different types of play parks for various age groups. Petting area, sand pits crazy golf and a small train. £1 charge for the train ride and £10 returnable deposit for crazy golf are the only additional charges.
Toilet block and showers were always clean when used but would imagine if weather is wet could become quite muddy due to being in the woods.
We only ventured out once whilst we were there and went to Reading that was really nice to with loads of shops and restaurants
Would def return.

A really great campsite, specially for campers with small kids. You really feel like you are in the middle of the forest and there is loads and loads to do for the kids. There are loads of lovely walks to do, loads of great play grounds for the kids - from water play, to climbing frames to a petting farm.
You can go here and not camp and pay to get in, but its so fun camping and the pitches are spacious. You do need strong pegs though as the trees have shallow roots and we bent loads of ours rying to pitch our tent.
Toilets were really clean and heated at night. We stayed at a quiet time so cannot say how it is at peak time in terms of toilets etc. The showers were hot and the washing up facilities were great.
We would definitely go again for a long weekend just to stay on site as there is loads for kids to do and places to run and explore.
There are local pubs a short drive away and on site there is a cafe serving basic hot food during the day (but not evening). The nearest supermarket is a bit of a drive away so you would do well to stock up a bit before you get there to avoid taking half a day out to do some basic shopping. The shop on site is only open during the day and sells the basics.
We are quite local to the site so stayed on site as there was lots to do. There is not a great deal in the immediate vicinity but Reading is not too far and there are some attractions like Windsor a drive away of around 30 - 40 mins.
A nice site - a bit expensive considering its location once you add EHU etc but if you have good weather its lovely.

In a word - FAB!
This isn't our usual type of site, we tend to stick to quiet, small, toilet/shower only sites. But we were in the area for a rugby festival weekend so thought we'd give it a try as we knew the boys would love the use of the facilities after hours!
We weren't sure what to make of it when we arrived at the reception, which was heaving, but once we spotted the camping reception we were sorted out by a friendly official and off we set to the campsite a short distance away (by car). Through the locked gates and up the very dusty track - we were blessed with fab weather.
Our pitch was huge! Most of the pitches, especially those with ehu seemed very big, all laid out in sort of mini clearings in the wood. Even when full it didn't seem crowded though it did mean a bit of a wait for the showers if you timed it wrong!
Shower/toilet and washing up facilities were great, very clean. There was also a small laundry area.
They boys were straight off to make new friends and play in the dirt! Having seen the state they came back in, we decided that they would wear those clothes at the site, and only change if we went off site. They were absolutely filthy, but had a whale of a time exploring the woodland close to our tent.
The wardens wandered round making sure new arrivals knew where the facilities were etc, very friendly.
We made most use of the park after hours as we were busy at the rugby festival, and during the day the park was heaving because of the good weather, but there was still plenty of space.
This was the most expensive site we've stayed at, all the more so as we visited the relatively local combi camp dealer and bought a nearly new combi camp! But we will definitely return again if we're in the area.

We have just spent a fabulous week at Wellington. Can only agree with all the previous good comments. The padlock system is still in place, but is not a problem - site feels very secure, despite it's size.
No crowding despite being busy. Some very faint traffic noise in the distance, but not bad enough to detract from the normal forest noises!
The real bonus is access to the main park - the adults enjoyed the peace of the woodland, while the children adored the extensive playground equipment!
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, a lovely place. My only minor gripe would be that it could do with a family shower room - not easy to get two small boys showered in a small cubicle!

We visited at a very busy time and was pleasantly surprised at how clean the shower block was, the site warden was checking first thing in the morning and we would see him checking last thing at night just before we went to bed.
When we arrived we had a problem with our caravan and the warden was more than happy to help us. Very happy and we are planning to book again for next year,
We hope the high standards are kept as we have told our friends and we are all planning to visit as a party next year.

Stayed for 3 nights to visit our son in Reading on our way home from France.
We arrived at 12.30 and we had to wait until 13.00 for an access key and to get on our plot, which was supposedly occupied. We were then very surprised when we went to the plot to find the site virtually empty. We still cannot understand why they could not have given us another plot. Just their system I suppose, but not very customer friendly.
This is a great place for families, with so many activities for kids in the park. Entry to the park is free when you book the site, which makes it a cheap trip for families. This does though mean that many stay until the deadline before handing in their keys. There was a leaving queue at 13.00!
The key system for entering and leaving the site is rather cumbersome and did get on our nerves a bit. After 18.30 the gate to the whole park is also locked and you then have to get out of your car and open and re-lock to 2 sets of gates. There was a keypad on the outer gate, but it must have been broken and replaced with a padlock. Fortunately the one key opens up both gates.
We were allocated plot 29, one of their top plots. It was a very good size, but had no grass and was quite muddy. Many of the cheaper plots looked in better condition, with more grass and gravel. Realistically, as this is in a forest, you will always have some mucky plots. We would rather have chosen ours, but we could not be bothered to yet again go through the padlock system.
Plenty of water/disposal points and an interesting elsan pit for chemical toilet disposal. The toilet block was first class. Very clean and well heated. One of the best I've seen.
There is a snack bar at the park enterance, which looked reasonable. Plenty of country pubs within a few minutes drive.
The highlight of our trip was the excellent walks in the park. The lake is very nice, but the deer walk was excellent. Lots of bounding deer and you can walk in the area where they graze.
We did not try any of the activities or the small petting farm, but they all looked very good.
This is great place to stay to do activities with a family and a nice site overall, but they just need to sort out their key system. I can also imagine it being a nightmare if you arrive late.
