We stayed here for one night in the stormy October half-term. This may have made the site quiet as we were in an area for five on our own.
The site is in the Wellington Country Park and is in a wooded area which gives lots of room. The pitches are in groups and well spaced so you would not feel crowded. The facilities are modern and well maintained. The campsite has free access to the country Park. The park has lots for young children to do with lakes and woods to explore. Reading is a short drive so all the shops you could want are at hand. There is plenty of information at the park on the local pub and other activities.
A good campsite in a forest location. The access to the park means there is plenty to do at the site.

This was our third trip to Wellington Park (second this year) and yet again the site didn't let us down.
The site is easy to find and has loads of things to keep the kids occupied for free with miniature bikes and a mini railway being the only chargeable activities.
Good points:-
Toilets are kept clean and stocked with good showers
Washing machine available and good washing facilities
On site warden does a good job of keeping the site clean and secure
The main gates are locked to the public at 6'ish so you get the complete run of the place making it very safe
Ideal for all ages up to early teens
Onsite café open throughout the day (closes at about 5)
The only not so good point is that the pitches are very hard - I bent three groundhog pegs before giving up and praying it wouldn't get too windy over night.

Spent two nights here in our caravan, with other family members in two tents. Had to book 3 pitches as we weren't allowed to have a pup tent on our pitch. Thought this was a bit unreasonable as the pitches were all of a good size, and not cheap. We paid £88 for our family of 4 with EHU. The pitch we had to have for the pup tent was £56 without EHU, for one Grandma. Definitely not cheap. However that included unlimited entry to the country park.
The pitches are arranged in groups of 1 to 3 so it is great if you are visiting with friends/family as you have your own little area in the woods. The site is quite big but doesn't feel like it at all, due to the arrangement of the pitches.
Our children (aged 4-7 years) loved the country park, to which there is easy access. The only things we had to pay for were the train, go karts and (returnable deposit) crazy golf. Not much for older children but suited ours just fine.
The only toilet/shower block was new and modern. There were plenty of loos but only 3 showers in the ladies and 3 in the gents. Six showers was not enough for the number of people on site. As the site is in the woodland and therefore muddy at times, the facilities could have done with cleaning more often too. Having said that, I wouldn't let this put me off returning. Just be prepared to be flexible when you want to have a shower or access the dishwashing facilities as they were often in great demand. We visited over a weekend in August so to some extent this is to be expected.

Wellington Country Park is located between Reading and Basingstoke. It had been recommended by a colleague of my husband, and proved worthy. By camping at the park we had full access to the park during the day, and once the park closed to the public we could use the facilities that were open (the adventure playground, the miniature golf, nature trails, and the play trails). We made full use of our stay and visited all areas of the park. We particularly enjoyed the deer park walks.
We paid for a premium electric pitch, which afforded some privacy (although we were on the road and were woken up on two mornings by small children climbing the trees behind our tent -- sad that some parents aren't aware what their children are up to at 7am). The pitch had no grass but was shallow earth and bark; we'd been advised to take rock pegs. We used the barest minimum to pitch because of the shelter afforded by the trees, but we lost almost all of them once we decamped. Shower facilities at the campsite weren't the best, only three for women, and there were long queues every morning. The toilets also weren't kept very clean. There were very good washing-up facilities though (one plus point). There was no campsite play park for the kids (not that they needed one, with all the woods to explore); they could ride their bikes around the campsite (not the park though except after hours).
We might return to this site because of the location, there are plenty of attractions in the area (we visited Hartley Wintey, Wokingham, and Bagshot, with Silchester Roman City on the list for next time). I'll just time my shower a bit better!

Just left Wellington this morning. It is set in beautiful woodland and was easy to find. Pitch was a good size and provided sunny and shaded areas. We arrived on Thursday and there were only a few other campers. It was idyllic and peaceful and this helped us turn a blind eye to the fact that the female toilets and showers were far from clean. None of the toilet cubicles had toilet brushes and there was no sinks with privacy to wash at. It was a costly stop due to the tariff only including 2 people, we paid £51 per night, 2 adults, kids 16, 13 & 5 night. It costs more because it includes play park entry, small animal Farm and dinosaurs which our five year old did enjoy. He didn't notice the litter and the extra costs for the train rides £1. 50 & £3. 00 for wee cars. Vending machines around the park were out of stock. We were accused by a lady in the shop (vastly over priced toys) if we were campers and had we sneaked in without paying as she couldn't see our clearly visible wrist bands.
It wasn't busy at all on the Thursday. Friday and Saturday multiple large camping parties arrived. The three female showers and toilets then deteriorated to a state I have not witnessed in 25 years of camping. The male toilets were found to be clean. At the dish washing other campers were complaining about the toilets and how it would deter them from returning. It was particularly hot and the baby nappy bin should have been emptied more often as the smell became unbearable. The park is aimed at under 12 s, I would say 8 and under is more appropriate. Clearly large groups with small children do enjoy camping here and partied and enjoyed themselves till late at night and up early in the morning. Good site if that's what you are looking for, unfortunately it was not us and there are lots of campsites half the price with great play parks.

We stayed here for the May bank holiday weekend with our two kids (2 and 5) and dog. It is a fantastic place. The campsite is in the woods so it had a lovely feel to it.
The kids enjoyed every minute of it with all the facilities in the main country park. Jumping pillows, mini steam train, play grounds, water play area. The kids were busy every second of the day. The staff were lovely and the special activities they had on for the bank holiday were great.
There isn't an awful lot nearby and you can buy a few supplies for a meal in the shop - but you are probably better of stocking up before you arrive.
I would give this place 10 out of 10 but the only thing that let it down was the shower/toilet facilities. We didn't mind being a bit grubby for a weekend and it was very busy as bank holiday. There aren't enough showers or toilets and these could have been kept a bit cleaner.
Everything else was perfect though so we will definitely be returning very soon.

We have stayed here a few times as the children love it so much and it close to where we live. The highlights for us is using the park when it is closed to the public. All that space for the children to safely explore and play.
We have always chosen where to pitch so have managed to be tucked away with lots of privacy. The facilities are okay although they can get really busy during peak times but that is to be expected. The staff are very friendly and there is a small shop where you can buy essentials if you run out. You can also refreeze your ice blocks for free where as we have been on sites before that charge you for this.
We also love that you can have an open fire if you use a brazier. Camping out in the woods with a fire going and deer's grazing in a field behind you is pretty special.

Camped with my daughter over the Easter weekend and was impressed from the start with a warm and friendly welcome from reception. Campsite is very spacious, the pitches are huge and provide a degree of privacy. Whilst pitching the tent we were welcomed by the warden who explained the layout and facilities. The toilet block was clean and showers hot.
The site is part of the country park which is nothing short of fantastic if you have children or dogs! The fact the price of park is included in pitch fee is great and over the weekend provided a circus attraction, Easter arts and crafts, cake decorating and an Easter egg hunt - if people say the is pricey then they need to realise what you get for your money!
Overall, a wonderful weekend, lots of time spent in park and a great campsite. I will end with words from my 6 year old daughter - daddy I don't want to go and I definitely want to come back.
Many thanks for a great weekend.

We stayed at this site October half term as we wanted to visit Legoland.
We spent one day at Legoland and one day exploring the park.
We had a lovely time.
The site was lovely with huge pitches. We were pitched in the middle of the woods and had loads of space around us.
The showers were very clean and the water was hot. The site warden was lovely and was able to lend my husband a spanner for our gas bottle!
It was lovely to be able to wander around the park whenever we liked even when all the other day visitors had gone home.
There was loads to discover around the park and our kids loved it.
We would totally recommend this site and would love to visit again.

A superb site, we arrived slightly early, but were made very welcome, the staff were very polite and very helpful,
The pitches were very well arranged, spacious and private,
The toilets and showers were immaculate, with plenty of hot water in showers, the cafe served good food and drinks at acceptable prices,
The park offers plenty to do for all the family. We had a very enjoyable few days. Will come again for sure.
