When we arrived at BudeMeadows Campsite we were shown to our pitch after a quick check in procedure in which they operate a secrutiy gate and you are then showed to your pitch around the one way system.
The pitch itself had plenty of room for our trailer tent and car.
The children's park which had a small football pitch and entertained my 12 year old son and husband on occasions for a while, my son made some great friends whilst playing in the park, the park was closed by around 9pm at night to stop the noise and allow everyone to relax.
The heated out door swimming pool was fun with no lifeguard present and although on the small side was never really busy.
The shop is well stocked with daily newspapers and fresh croissants and rolls.
There is a bar on site and also a takeaway which we didn't use either of these facilities so cant comment on them.
The indoor children's playroom had a pool table, 1 arcade machine and a football table.
The toilet and shower blocks were kept really clean and I noticed them being cleaned at least 3 times a day.
The site isnt far from Widemouth Bay Beach and the parking there is reasonable price, also close to the seaside town of Bude. Whilst we were there we went to Barnstaple this is only around 90mins away and is a great town, We also visted the Milkyway Theme park which is 30mins away a great day out for all the family.
Our only criticism of the site is that I feel that there isnt enough showers with quite a few people queueing in the morning. The site although is in a great position the traffic from the A39 main road at night can be a little noisy. Although this wont put us off going back again as we had a fantastic time.

We have just returned from a fortnights stay at Budemeadows. The site is located just off of the Atlantic highway, and is a short drive from Bude and Widemouth bay. You could walk to either location but the roads didn't have footpaths so we always went by car.
Parking on the beach at Widemouth increased in increments up to a maximum of £5. 80 for 24hours.
We always found free parking in Bude, for up to 1hour, which was plenty for our needs.
There is a Sainsbury's and a Morrisons in Bude. We went to Sainsbury's first because it is our usual, but the parking at the store is horrible and you then have to walk along a sloping covered walkway downhill to get to the store, but uphill with your shopping trolley to get back to your car. The next time we needed groceries we went to Morrisons!
At Budemeadows we stayed in the back field so we had perfect access to the swimming pool, Grumpy Pete's bar, playground, games room, shop and take away, but we were far enough away that none of these facilities disturbed us if we wanted to sit quietly on our pitch. This was just what we wanted. Another plus for this field was that it is further from the road and there was no noise from passing traffic which other reviewers have mentioned, however some of the pitches on this field (including ours) were not level so if a perfectly level pitch is important to you make sure you ask their advice at the time of booking. The slight slope didn't really bother us and the owners helped us with blocks to level our unit so it wasn't a problem.
The pool was one of the reasons for choosing this site and it did not disappoint. It was lovely and warm, even when the weather got chilly.
The shop was great for basic groceries, reasonably priced and open for good hours.
We didn't make much use of Grumpy Pete's bar, but the homemade cakes were delicious!
The toilet/showers were in two blocks. One by the pool and one at the top of our field. Despite the site being full we always found both blocks clean and well stocked. The showers were free and the water temperature could be adjusted to suit your requirements, although sometimes the water pressure seemed a little low.
I liked the separate wetsuit rinsing areas as the main showers and sinks weren't clogged up with sand.
We made use of the laundry facilities once during our stay which was useful.
The dish washing areas, one at each toilet block, were always clean and had big deep sinks. Again sometimes the water pressure in the main area seemed low.
The owners and all the staff were always friendly and helpful, I've already mentioned helping to level our unit, but they are also lent us a brolly when the heavens opened and gave us recommendations for what was a delicious meal at the Brendon Arms, Bude. They are a wealth of local information. Just ask and they will help you find the answer.
We have already booked to stay at Budemeadows next Summer.

If you like a campsite that is in between the basic and the large commercial ones then this is for you. The pitches are large. We had a pitch on the far side of the campsite which meant we had no noise from the popular areas like the swimming pool and playground we were also away from the main road which was a bonus. However the negative to this is that the pitches in this area are not particularly level. All facilities were very good the children's playground, pool and in door and outdoor games areas were widely used by my children. The toilets/showers although old were in good order and plenty of hot water and very clean. We ate in the take away area one evening food was ok burgers could have done with some salad!
Now local information which you might find useful we used Morrison supermarket not far away. We also found a nice fish and chip shop in Widemouth Bay and if you want a treat then go for a walk in the Wier wildlife centre lovely panoramic view of the Bay and the went for a lovely meal overlooking the lake afterward.
Days out: We went to the Eden project which we enjoyed, slightly disappointed with the Dinosaurs Unleashed exhibit. We also visited Menick Theatre on storytelling day (this needs to be booked up in advance as it gets very popular). Well worth the entry fee of £4. 50 for adults and 50p for kids.
Overall a really good time. Thank you Budemeadows.

A lovely site, children loved it.
Pool a bit battered in places but clean enough and the kids loved it. Toilets and showers old but clean, my daughter loved the beach hut doors on the loos, in the main block, this block was the furthest from our pitch though and the closer one always had a queue.
Didn't use the food van as it seemed to be mostly fast food.
Grumpy Pete's bar was a lifesaver on a night with torrential rain! Staff friendly.
Shop had everything we needed and fab 'cheap' pocket money gifts for the kids.
Quite annoyed when campsites fleece you for extra money to freeze your ice packs. Unlike other sites we have used that either have freezers for you to use for free or a tiny fee, Budemeadows won't let you freeze your own, you have to use theirs at a £1 deposit per ice pack and a 50p charge to freeze each pack. A small thing but a bit tight!
Kids on the site did whizz round past our tent on roller skates/scooter/bikes and skateboards, we were on a slope so they were quite fast!
Wide mouth bay was lovely, a great pub on the front called the Bay view inn with views of the beach, great food and a trendy feel!
We had a lovely holiday and it was as I expected, doubt I would use it again though.

Visited this site in July with my wife and small dog.
Found the site to be very well maintained and well set out with small hedges separating the various pitches.
The shower and toilet area's were very clean and there is a bath if you preferred one. There is also a good laundry area if required and the washing up area is also very good with plenty of hot water.
The on site shop is very handy for essentials and stocks a lot of items you may need for those emergency moments, tent equipment, etc but for your general shop there is a Morrisons just a few miles down the road to Bude.
The pub is pretty basic but fine for a couple of cold beers, they could make more of this by having a quiz night etc as they do have a captive audience with no pubs within walking distance.
I would recommend this site as a great base for exploring the area but if like me you like to have an evening stroll with the dog to a nearby pub for a bar meal and a couple of pints there is nothing close but it is an ideal location if you intend to visit places like Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle.

Lovely small campsite reminding me of french sites of years ago.
My son loved the pool and the fact he could ride his bike around the site and as an only child meant he could meet other children on the way and at the playground.
Road noise has been mentioned by other reviewers but this was not a problem for us even in a tent we could hardly hear it.
Nearby we visited tintagel, Boscastle, bude, port isaac and widemouth bay has great surf and rockpools and newquay was an hour away.
If you visit and want to do something on a rainy day then please visit Rebel cinema which is a small local cinema showing some latest releases. No inflated prices either. Was only 5 mins from the site and well worth it.

My wife and I visited Budemeadows for 12 nights in early July.
We thought that the site layout was one of the best we have stayed on, pitches tucked away in dead ends with plenty of room.
Showers and toilets were spotless. Grounds and pitches well kept.
The staff and the maintenance man all were friendly and do a great job.
Ideal for touring north cornwall and devon.
Tried to think of something negative, but could not come up with anything.
We are going back in September for another week.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend, stayed previously on site in tent. This was our first time out in our new caravan so as we are newbies the site was our first choice
The site is a bit tight to get in with caravan, probably OK if you know what your up to but as a complete novice it is tricky.
The site itself is great, just off the main Atlantic highway, didn't hear any traffic noise, so easy to get to some great beaches, wide mouth and bude to name a few, pitches are plenty big enough, level, which meant I didn't have to show myself by attempting to reverse caravan. Owner showed us to pitch and helped wheel in to place, so easy. The owners were friendly and very helpful, nothing was to much trouble.
Facilities good, nice and clean and site well looked after, have 2 kids, 9 and 12, hardly saw then when on site, good play area, football area, zip slide and games room.
Would recommend site for anyone, we enjoyed it so I much we booked again for the next bank holiday.

Having just bought a caravan, and wanting to go somewhere local to try it out. We only live in Bude. We chose this site.
It was perfect !
Well laid out pitches, and very large and level.
The site manager was very helpful, as we are novices to this caravanning lark !
We couldn't have chosen a better site.
The idea was to try the awnings out. The caravan came with 2 awnings. But the weather was a bit wet so we decided to do that next time.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The toilets, showers, washing facilities etc were first class, and all very clean.
We will definitely be back again. Even if it is only 4 miles from home !
Well done Bude Meadows for being a top class site !

I have camped in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and throughout England.
Budehaven Meadows is the tidiest and cleanest campsite that I have ever stayed at, I will return again and again.
We were shown to our pitch ina most friendly manner and any queries were answered clearly and promptly.
We the customer really mattered.
The only downside was a certain amount of traffic noise from the Atlantic Highway which is adjacent to a site boundary, however we did not notice this after the first night.
