Nice site in a good location - close to Bude and Widemouth Bay. Cost of a taxi in to Bude in the evening was £8 each way.
The site is next to the main road, so there is road noise if you're at the top of the site. Site wasn't busy when we were there and the facilities were clean and tidy. Pitch sizes are good and clearly marked.
Would use the site again.

We had a Brilliant time over the Dec2010/2011 new year weekend. Owners/staff at Budemeadows were very helpful both on emails and on site. The area was very welcoming we visited Tamar Lakes what a lovely place to walk around. The shops are close by the beaches are clean and the people could not be nicer. We will be going away at Christmas time again as we enjoyed the time in Bude very much. I did not comment on child friendliness as we don't have children under 30years HaHa

Stayed at Budemeadows for a week during August, first time at this site. Very friendly staff, walked us to our pitch. Very spacious pitches and a good sized site.
During our stay we had a fair bit of rain but drained from our pitches without any issues. The toilet and shower blocks were very good, sometimes having to queue for a shower, but not for very long. Having two young children, they used the swimming pool, which was excellent, heated, and I mean heated! The children loved it.
The bar was great, a good selection of local beers to choose from, and the takeaway food was also very good,, which we used on several occasions. Location wise, a short drive into Bude, and a few minutes drive to the nearest beach. We enjoyed our stay at the site, and when back in the area will be booking again

Friendly staff on arrival with a reminder not to laugh(too loudly)after 11 oclock. This site is in a good location for the beaches, Bude and a pick of supermarkets.
The site itself has large pitches with plenty of room for a large gazebo and fabulous panoramic views on clear days. There are clean hot spacious showers, brilliant for parents with small children. A nuisance at busy times in the mornings and evenings was the queuing if you just needed the toilet.
The sinks and toilets are together in their own cubicles, a few more toilet cubicles would have been good. The pool was warm, heated and clean in a lovely grassy area. In the small bar don't be fooled by the draught pumps, the Guiness was from cans discreetly poured into a glass by staff and the coke was from plastic bottles. A little disappointing and overpriced. The meals from the snack bar were average.
There is good wifi coverage if you need it, but this again was overpriced for the week. The downside for this site was the over zealous gardener who needlessly trims each pitch within an inch of it's life within an hour of each family leaving. This is very noisy and disturbs the ambience of the site.

Just returned from a fortnight at Bude Meadows. We consider the site to be an excellent standard with well maintained facilities. The toilet blocks were always clean and we never experienced a queue over the fortnight. Toilet block is not modern, but it is well designed with no frills. We have young children and took advantage of the family bathroom and showeroom almost daily. Hot water was plentiful and free.
The weather was wet and windy, so site did get water logged in places (more noticeably in the lower areas e.G. Plots in the area of plot N14).
The kids play area was popular and well equipped. It was closed at 9pm presumably to limit the noise to surrounding pitches, but we found this acceptable.
The swimming pool was warm (28C) and clean with plenty of sun loungers for parents. The bar was friendly, and had a screen to watch sport (but not on at any other time). Shop was well stocked and reasonable.
Site is located on A39, so offers really easy access, but noise level was really noticeable in mornings with heavy lorries. Site location meant you need to use the car to go anywhere.
We felt the management team were working really hard to provide a fantastic venue, and were really approachable and helpful. The attention to detail which has gone into the facilities and their maintenance was noticeable ie wetsuit rinse area, cloths provided for cleaning of sinks in the washrooms, hand wash sink by the CDP, up to date weather and surf forecasts printed and displayed several times a day etc.
Bude town was nice, and the beaches of Summerleaze and Sandymouth were excellent.
Overall we would consider returning to this site if it was closer to where we lived. The site offered the benefits and feel of a small intimate touring campsite but with the facilities of a more commercial venue.

This was our third trip to Budemeadows touring Park.
So we thought it was time to let known our thoughts!
Welcomed by the very friendly staff.
The usual bits:
Two toilet/shower blocks with laundry facilities: the main one has plenty of facilities, even has a bathroom (I know on a campsite!) and unisex showers (i.E. Anyone can use them – even kids if you catch them on a good day!).
Main things that one looks out for – toilets/showers cleaned regularly, mid day and late evening – even got to know the mid-day cleaners of the top field toilet block after a few well earned lie-ins! But the main block was not far away, which meant I could stop off for a coffee on the way back!
Also, (which I think is new this year) a dunk tank for your wetsuits (yeah I know when I were a lad....) – the water does get murky quick, but mention it to the staff and they change it out.
It is an extremely well looked after site. The pitches are well tended and spacious. Even though it was busy – it never felt packed (if that makes sense!).
Extras:
The site has a swimming pool, heated. A second shallow pool for young ones to paddle in – even though it was quite nice just to lie in for a quiet moment for grown ups as well.
A park the children enjoyed, as they seemed to stay in it for ages, until hungry or closed, so it must be good. It has a buzz-wire thingy, “That’s really really great!”. Also some big swings – I think they are new.
It has Grumpy Pete’s Bar with an assortment of local beers – I might have tried a few of them! – I still think there’s a few yet to taste. New one this year was a Nettle beer [Cornish Stingers, quite light and refreshing in the afternoon sunshine/warm British rain (delete as applicable!).
They had a room with games (skittles and shove ‘apenny [which the children had never seen before) chess, mastermind you get the gist. Had a brilliant game of Jenga all the children got involved – even a few we’d never met – but the parents were enjoying a quiet moment in the bar whilst their children were entertained! They even have wi-fi, can’t comment on that as I was on holiday.
The takeaway van and the shop were very handy.
The owners were very welcoming and always happy to help.
We will definitely be going back.

We've just returned from a weeks visit to Budemeadows and have to say we were very impressed with the site. Very clean, great facilities and my children 6,10 & 12 loved the warm outdoor pool and the large children's play areas. We stayed on one of the new serviced pitches which are ideally positioned nearby all the facilities. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and would visit again.

Being a picky family, I trawled through many sites to find a good one. Having not camped before, we were not sure what to expect though Budemeadows turned out to be everything you would expect from a summer camping trip.
We took an 8-12 man tent with landrover and found our spot absolutely perfect. I asked for a nice enclosed area for our young children, (2,5 & 9) to be able to run around & was placed in a lovely corner spot behind pretty hedge barriers with one entrance in & out (even though the children have been well catered for with the variety of games & things to do).
The swimming pool was clean and a nice size, plus there is the bonus of a much smaller, shallower toddler pool & sun loungers provided.!
I found the overall size of the site just right. The walk to any area, shop, pool, toilets etc was not so far that you couldn't be bothered to do it but far enough that you didn't suffer from the bustle of other users.
The layout seemed to work with central toilet, shower & washing up facilities, which were all clean & perfectly usable. The on site provisions are priced to expectation, ie slightly dearer due to convenience but not extortionate. To round our experience here up, it is going to be a hard act to follow. I'm currently trying to find a site closer to home & am having trouble selecting one that I feel will meet the experience we had at Budemeadows.!
It is 6.5hrs from home & was a big gamble.(lets be honest, websites are not always truthful & can be slightly deceiving (thank you reviews.!)), it was so worth the drive.

This campsite is in a great location for Widemouth Bay. We stayed here for three nights at the end of the May half term holiday with children aged 9 and 12; the site was about 70% full at this time. The pitches themselves are all quite open but the site overall is generally well sheltered from the winds by trees and hedges. Our pitch was adequate for our trailer tent and car, albeit slightly sloping. As we were enjoying fantastic weather during this week there were no issues with mud or drainage. The facilities nearest to us were modern, clean and warm. There is another older block which also seemed fine and includes an area for washing wetsuits.
This is a very family-friendly site and the children's play area is excellent with lots of equipment to suit both small and older kids. A minor gripe is that this was closed at 8.30 PM which seemed a little early for light summer evenings. The swimming pool area is very nicely laid out with lawns and sun-loungers. The pool is a decent size and the water temperature was lovely and warm.
We had one meal from the takeaway which was delicious and reasonably priced. We also took advantage of the bar for coffees in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening.
In all, this is a great site with friendly owners and nice facilities and where children are safe to run about and make friends. I would have some concerns about coming here in the height of summer when all pitches are occupied as I think it could feel rather cramped but would definitely come back at quieter times in the season.

We have just returned from a touring holiday round Cornwall and Budemeadows was by far the best campsite. The owners were helpful and polite, and have lots of info on surrounding area.
The weather was mixed, but our hardstanding pitch with large grassed area was well situated. Others in the main tent area were not so fortunate as it was quite waterlogged in parts.
The pool was lovely and warm, there is also a well equipped outdoor and indoor games area. Excellent clean shower blocks.
Our 10year old made lots of friends and it was very safe for them to run about all over the site. However, it was quiet at night.
An extremely well stocked shop, with a bar and a takeaway serving breakfast and evening meals was a big plus. A cold bottle of wine and a proper cup of coffee!
There are several supermarkets nearby and Bude itself was a nice town with a good beach.
We would definitely recommend this site and will return.
