Visited with family for four nights. Helpful on phone regarding booking a serviced pitch and was looking forward to arriving.
Very matter-of-fact approach on arrival. Given info and shown pitch. Would certainly not call it friendly.
Shop had basic conveniences and girls running shop were friendly and helpful.
Grumpy Pete's bar had good selection of beer but unfortunately was aptly named!
Good sized pitch, lovely small pool and good showers. With a more friendly and warm approach this could be a fantastic site.

Spent 9 days at Budemeadows in our caravan, choose this site on the strength of the reviews I had read and wasn't disappointed. Nice layout of pitches, our pitch was a very good size even with car, van and awning we still had plenty of room.
Site was very clean and staff friendly, overall very pleased with this site, location was OK with Widemouth Bay approx 2 miles away and Bude another mile or so further on, the site was easy to find and access.
There was a nice heated pool and shop on site and plenty for children to do.

Have just returned from another wonderful stay at Budemeadows. We've been coming here for over six years now and the standards this family-run site set, continues to impress.
The owners are extremely welcoming every year and will go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The site is extremely clean and well-maintained from the toilet blocks to the washing up areas and laundry facilities.
Pitch sizes are very generous and each is designed to give you a degree of privacy where possible.
The facilities are excellent for the whole family. From the outdoor heated swimming pool, children's playground and play area through to the bar Grumpy Pete's which stocks a lot of local ales and beers. So in the evenings you don't have to sit out by your tent looking like 'billy no-mates' you can pop along and meet some new faces.
Don't think this campsite can be beaten in any respect and they deserve every success for all the hard work they continue to put into the site.

Literally just back from a 3 night stay at Bude meadows and wanted to write a review whilst all details were fresh in mind. I will start with a summary. Best camping trip so far for us, the site was brilliant.
We are a family of 5 (kids are 3, almost 5 and 9) and we had pitch E3 which was perfect as it was next to the play area. The kids absolutely loved the site (as did myself and my wife) and yesterday they wanted to stay on site instead of going to the beach. We used the pool everyday and it was excellent. Weather was great which helped but even without the great weather we still would have used it, as it is heated and is a nice temperature. Little kids paddling pool is also nice.
The play area has usual things like swings, little tikes slides and climbing apparatus, zip line and football goals with nets. All in excellent working order. This site is very well maintained throughout.
With regards to other site facility's they are also excellent. There are showers in the toilet areas and also another block of hot showers. They aren't power showers but the water was nice and hot (and not on a meter) and everything was very clean. In fact everything on site was super clean. My wife is OCD when it comes to cleanliness and she could not fault any part of this site. Washing up area was very good and there is also an area to wash clothes (we did not use this but it looked well maintained).
Shop was useful and owners were happy to open briefly at times when it was not scheduled to be open which was nice of them.
When we wanted to stock up with other food and drinks we used Morrisons in Bude which is just off the A39 and is very easy to get to.
So that's it we all had a brilliant time here and are already planning on going back at some point later this year if possible. Trip is 240 miles to the site but I'm happy to make the trip even for a fairly short stay like our 3 night stay.
Note to others coming, Summerleaze beach in Bude was excellent and we had a much better time there than at Blackrock beach which is next to Widemouth Bay. Blackrock had very nice views and looks good for body boarders but Summerleaze at Bude was much better for the kids and the natural sea pool was also great.
Thanks again to the people who run Bude Meadows. Mark

First time camping as family. Would highly recommend BudeMeadows. It's quite a large site but we'll laid out with the feel of several smaller fields.
The pitches are well maintained and many are large and have electric hook up which was a must for us.
Toilets and shower blocks are clean and free. There is plenty to do on site with play areas for kids a game room and outdoor play area with chess and bowling etc. The on-site bar is cosy and well stocked with some lovely local bitters to help you sleep. As well as some great family bar games for when you can't sleep.
The site is family friendly so lots of kids around during the day but quiet at night If you are by one of the roads pitch you tent so bedrooms are away from path - otherwise the sound of flip flops on route to the toilet block will drive you mad if you turn in early.
There is not much in walking distance from the site but the beach at Widemouth is a short drive away and abuse has several big supermarkets. There is also a shop on site for essentials.
The only negatives are the fact there is nothing else nearby to walk to but that's probably true of many campsites after all its to get away from it all. But a quaint village right next door would make it perfect.
Staff were very helpful friendly and always around.
We loved it so much we went back 2 months later and will go back again and without hesitation.

Arrived the 1st week in March for a long weekend break. We only live just over an hour away and were looking for a site in the Widemouth Bay area and Budemeadows was the only one open all year. We emailed the site before arrival to make our enquiries and replies were prompt and welcoming.
We arrived late after work on Friday evening, friendly owner met us and showed us to and gave us a choice of pitch. Site is easy to find off the A39 and good access for motorhomers and towing caravans. We plumped for a hardstanding pitch in the bottom field overlooking the fields. Traffic noise was minimal, although I would imagine in busy Summer during the day you would hear it but the road does quieten down loads at night. The site is well set out and pitches generous. Nice playground for the kids with some play houses and a goalposts - Pitches around this area ideal for those who like to watch their children play.
Can't comment too much on the ladies showers as they were closed for renovation to the path to the shower block so the we used the family shower room which was perfectly adequate, clean and spacious. Not the most modern bathroom I've ever seen but I don't judge campsites on posh facilities - as long as they are clean that's fine with us. Only slight niggle was shower pressure could have been better. The site was lovely and quiet when we were there (about 4 units total on site) so no queuing.
There is no dog walk on site but the owners kindly let us use the camping area to exercise our dogs before breakfast, as we were the only people pitched in this section, this was perfect - it was a dream to have the whole lower field to ourselves. This arrangement for using the lower field is during low season only if there are no campers in that section so if you are dog owners and it's high season you will have to walk your dogs off site - just out the campsite and turn left there is a public footpath (go past Widemouth Fields campsite entrance) and you can walk for a long way along the public footpath down past the farm which is away from the main road so ideal for early morning walkies.
The main reason we chose Budemeadows is it's proximity to Widemouth Bay, a mile drive and you are there. We spent all day, every day of our 3 night/4 day stay at the beach. The beach is fantastic and ideal for bodyboarders, surfers, sandcastle builders, rock poolers! As it was out of season we never had to pay a penny to park. There are 2 large car parks (both with cafes open in season) and the car parks are literally only a few footsteps from the sand, so easy access for all. Dogs are allowed all year at Black Rock end of Widemouth Bay and restricted during Summer on the main beach. FAB rock pooling for the kids when the tide is out, would keep them occupied for ages.
Take the coast road from Widemouth Bay to Bude (really short drive, great views). Plenty of parking in Bude itself, and the town was relatively quiet when we were there. Rosie's Cafe next to Crooklets beach is worth a try and have an outdoor seating & play area for little ones overlooking the bay.
To sum up our stay: one of the best in Cornwall yet ~ we were blessed with really fabulous weather (cold, frosty nights and sunny cloudless days). Out of season Budemeadows is a treat - if you like quiet, relaxed off season breaks near the sea then book your trip to Bude and Budemeadows now!

We have stayed at Budemeadows on long weekends during the winter months for the past five years.
We are happy here, and find it very convenient that it is open all year. The owners are helpful and friendly, and extremely hardworking; many improvements have been made since we started visiting, especially to the drainage (a must at the moment) and also by providing more pitches with full services.
The amenities are always well looked after, clean and tidy, and although we don't visit in summer, the area is landscaped nicely, with large pitches and hedging for a bit of privacy. There is a grassy play area with various climbing frames, and in the summer, a swimming pool and a bar, although we haven't used these. Plenty of space for games and dog walking too.
The surrounding area is stunning; the beach, countryside, good pubs restaurants and cafes are all nearby, and Bude town has a good range of shops. The site is easy to find, and the staff will help with any problems.
The rain sometimes puddles the grass in places when very wet, and some may consider the main toilet block a little old fashioned, but this is a campsite, and a very nice one at that. Enjoy!

We arrived in the dark in incredibly wet weather, but the owner walked us round to our pitch and made sure we were happy with everything. The toilet block was clean and decorated like beach huts! but cold. However, the showers, only two in ladies, were huge, no horrid curtains, and the water nice and hot, and a good flow.
We were only staying one night, but I could imagine in the summer the site is lovely - a pool, outdoor chess etc. There are laurel hedges, and the site is well looked after. We were advised to eat at the pub in the nearest village, and after trying to find a restaurant in BUDE - an impossibility as nowhere was open - we went to the pub. The food was typical pub food, but nothing special and overpriced. A good site, but I'm not sure there is much in the area, but we were stopping on the way through.

Spent 10 nights at the site. Fairly quiet as it was low season. The road is a little noisy but not intrusive. The owners were friendly and helpful. The whole site is clean and very well maintained. The toilet/shower blocks were very clean, plenty of hot water, no charge for the showers and no timer taps on the water.
As the bar, shop & pool were closed, I am unable to comment on them. However, the office does have some basics like milk, gas and some non-perishables for sale. The site is very handy for Bude and the beaches. Black Rock at Widemouth allows dogs all year, off leads. The car park is right next to the beach. Weekly tickets are available which will save you money. We shal definitely go back next year, probably in the Mid season, when all the facilities are open.

We visited this campsite with friends and the owners were very helpful in the booking process suggesting which pitches would be best, and the 2 we had together we fantastic size, plenty of room for tents and cars. We did ring ahead to see how site was doing with the exceptional amounts of rain we have had in UK this summer and they were very honest, so we arrived expecting a wet campsite. We were in the second field and it was nicer but a little exposed, may have been made worse by fact that fewer than expected tents were booked in during our stay. Toilet and shower block were fine, kids loved all amenities and wifi access(chargeable but reasonable) was welcome.
Heated pool on site was well used and local beaches are great, parking at summerleaze for £5/24hrs was very good value. Takeaway on site was useful and good. Noise from the road was evident early in morning, but not such that it distracted. Despite wet, duckboards were available and good information on up coming weather was available at reception. Will visit again.
